CHEESEBURGER IN A BUN


1/2 lb. ground beef, 3 slices bacon, diced, 1/4 c. onion, chopped, 1 tsp. salt, 1/8 tsp. pepper, 2-1/3 c. Bisquick, 3 T. butter or margarine melted, 1/2 c. milk, 6 slices cheese, 6 slices tomato

Mix ground beef, bacon, onion, salt and pepper; shape mixture into six patties. Place on rack in broiler pan. Broil three to four inches from heat for four to five minutes on each side. Decrease temperature to 400 degrees. Stir baking mix, butter and milk to a soft dough. Gently smooth dough into a ball on floured board. Knead 8 to 10 times. Roll dough 1/8 inch thick. Cut with floured 4-1/2 inch cutter. Place half of the rounds on ungreased baking sheet. Place 1 meat patty, 1 slice tomato and 1 slice cheese on each round. Top with remaining rounds. Pinch edges together to seal securely; cut slit in center of each. Bake 15 minutes or until golden brown. Serves six.




QUICHE LORRAINE


1 c. Bisquick, 1/4 c. light cream, 12 slices bacon, fried, and crumbled, 1 c. Swiss cheese, shredded, 4 eggs, 1/3 c. onion, minced, 3/4 tsp. salt, 2 c. light cream , 1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper, 1/4 tsp. sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Stir baking mix and ¼ c. light cream to soft dough. Gently smooth dough into a ball on floured board. Knead five times. Roll dough two inches larger than inverted 9-inch pie pan. Ease into pan and flute edge. Sprinkle bacon, cheese and onion in crust. Beat remaining ingredients with rotary beater; pour over bacon mixture. Cover edge with two to three inch strip of aluminum foil to prevent excessive browning; (remove foil last 15 minutes of baking time). Bake 15 minutes at 350 degrees. Reduce oven to 300 degrees. Bake about 35 minutes longer or until knife inserted one inch from edge comes out clean. Let stand 10 minutes before cutting. Serves six.




MEXICAN FIESTA CASSEROLE


1 lb. ground beef, 1 c. sour cream, 2/3 c. mayonnaise, 1 c. Cheddar cheese, shredded, 2 T. onion, chopped, 2 c. Bisquick, 2 to 3 tomatoes, sliced thin, 1/2 c. cold water, 3/4 c. green pepper, chopped

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cook and stir ground beef until brown; drain and set aside. Mix sour cream, mayonnaise, cheese and onion; set aside. Stir baking mix and water to a soft dough. Pat dough in greased oblong pan, 13 x 9 x 2 inches, pressing dough 1/2 inch up sides of pan. Layer ground beef, tomatoes, and green pepper; spoon sour cream mixture over top. If desired, sprinkle with paprika. Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until edges of dough are light brown. Serves ten.




PARMESAN WINE SUPPER BREAD


1-1/2 c. Bisquick, 1 T. sugar, 1 T. instant minced onion, 1 egg, 1/4 c. milk, 1/4 c. white wine, 1/2 tsp. oregano, 1/4 c. grated Parmesan

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Mix all ingredients except cheese to a soft dough. Spread dough in greased round layer pan, 8 x 1-1/2 inches. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake 20 to 25 minutes. Cut into wedges; serve warm. Makes six to eight servings.




FRUIT KUCHEN


2 c. Bisquick, 2 T. sugar, 1 egg, 2/3 c. water or milk, 1 c. sliced fruit, Streusel Topping

Combine baking mix, sugar, egg and water; beat vigorously 1/2 minute. Spread batter in greased square pan, 9 x 9 x 2 inches. Spoon fruit evenly over batter; sprinkle with Streusel Topping. Bake 20 to 25 minutes. Serve warm. Serves 9 to 12.

Streusel Topping: Mix 1/3 c. Bisquick, 1/3 c. brown sugar, (packed) ½ tsp. cinnamon, and 2 T. firm butter or margarine until crumbly.

GARDEN SNAKES CAN BE DANGEROUS...

Snakes also known as Garter Snakes (Thamnophissirtalis) can be dangerous. Yes, grass snakes, not rattlesnakes. Here's why.

A couple in St Paul, Minnesota, had a lot of potted plants. During a recent cold spell, the wife was bringing a lot of them indoors to protect them from a possible freeze.

It turned out that a little green garden grass snake was hidden in one of the plants. When it had warmed up, it slithered out and the wife saw it go under the sofa.

She let out a very loud scream.

The husband (who was taking a shower) ran out into the living room naked to see what the problem was. She told him there was a snake under the sofa.

He got down on the floor on his hands and knees to look for it. About that time the family dog came and cold-nosed him on the behind. He thought the snake had bitten him, so he screamed and fell over on the floor.

His wife thought he had had a heart attack, so she covered him up, told him to lie still and called an ambulance.

The attendants rushed in, would not listen to his protests, loaded him on the stretcher, and started carrying him out.

About that time, the snake came out from under the sofa and the Emergency Medical Technician saw it and dropped his end of the stretcher. That's when the man broke his leg and why he is still in the hospital.

The wife still had the problem of the snake in the house, so she called on a neighbor who volunteered to capture the snake. He armed himself with a rolled-up newspaper and began poking under the couch.. Soon he decided it was gone and told the woman, who sat down on the sofa in relief.

But while relaxing, her hand dangled in between the cushions, where she felt the snake wriggling around. She screamed and fainted, the snake rushed back under the sofa.

The neighbor man, seeing her lying there passed out, tried to use CPR to revive her.

The neighbor's wife, who had just returned from shopping at the grocery store, saw her husband's mouth on the woman's mouth and slammed her husband in the back of the head with a bag of canned goods, knocking him out and cutting his scalp to a point where it needed stitches.

The noise woke the woman from her dead faint and she saw her neighbor lying on the floor with his wife bending over him, so she assumed that the snake had bitten him. She went to the kitchen and got a small bottle of whiskey, and began pouring it down the man's throat.

By now, the police had arrived.

Breathe here...

They saw the unconscious man, smelled the whiskey, and assumed that a drunken fight had occurred. They were about to arrest them all, when the women tried to explain how it all happened over a little garden snake!

The police called an ambulance, which took away the neighbor and his sobbing wife.

Now, the little snake again crawled out from under the sofa and one of the policemen drew his gun and fired at it. He missed the snake and hit the leg of the end table. The table fell over, the lamp on it shattered and, as the bulb broke, it started a fire in the drapes.

The other policeman tried to beat out the flames, and fell through the window into the yard on top of the family dog who, startled, jumped out and raced into the street, where an oncoming car swerved to avoid it and smashed into the parked police car.

Meanwhile, neighbors saw the burning drapes and called in the fire department. The firemen had started raising the fire ladder when they were halfway down the street. The rising ladder tore out the overhead wires, put out the power, and disconnected the telephones in a ten-square city block area (but they did get the house fire out).

Time passed! Both men were discharged from the hospital, the house was repaired, the dog came home, the police acquired a new car and all was right with their world.

A while later they were watching TV and the weatherman announced a cold snap for that night. The wife asked her husband if he thought they should bring in their plants for the night.

And that's when he shot her.

.... Funny stuff!
Hi everyone,
Well... yesterday was different... It was Bob's 49th Birthday (we did icecream cake over the weekend while the kids were here for Bob, Richard- bday in May and Dyls graduation. Anyway... yesterday I had my psychiatrist appt as I have every 2 mos so I can get my meds... All went well and at the end of the appt he asked what I was going to do without Dr Zickl? Dr Z is my primary care Dr, an internist who has seen me thru abuse, raising Richard as a single mum, my accident, my vitamin deficiency... WELL... I was surprised he'd retire... and I found out he DIED! Suddenly and quickly on May 22nd... I'm quite sad, he was a wonderful man and exceptional Dr. I feel a bit lost but I"m sure they will have good Drs to take his patients... Still can't believe he's gone though... He had MANY elderly patients and some younger like me.. and was more than a Dr to most of us... He was also a wonderful husband, father, animal lover, friend and only 72... so please pray for his loved ones. Ironically yesterday aftn when I said good night to our last hen I told her that if the critters got her over night... to let Dr Z know I was thinking of him, would miss him and would work HARD to continue to stay healthy. She was alive in the am when Bob fed... WHile Brandon was eating breakfast he yelled out that a nice red fox just jogged by and I made a joke it probably had the hen, Whitey. Lo and behold.. I went out to feed this aftn... and found her fluff of feathers and realized... that fox DID have her! Oops.
SO... Bob turned 49 and we had more cake and icecream last night. It POURED on and off today... I DID get the chores done though and then I ran 2 miles instead of one on the treadmill...
AND... here I am playing catch up on here AGAIN!
So far so good with my sister and we are grateful for the prayers!
have a good night, let your loved ones KNOW they are loved... life can end so fast! Also... LOVE life cause even on the bad days... it is such a GIFT!

Closed on the place down in Louisa county today out of Mineral. Gotta get some kennels built and the back yard fence fixed in one place to start with. Pickn up a Walker female next weekend in WV. So ill be busy this next week to have places for High and the new female,her name is Whiskey,,, then in a month there abouts i have a pup coming from Texas out of Dr, Law. Then anuther pup if all goes well will be coming in sept...rather ill pick the pup up when i go down to Lousiana for the world show..... the world show is only 2 hours from my ole stomping grounds for i moved here to virginia....that pup will be from one of my good friends...LEt the Fun Begin!!!!!!!
