Football season is over for me!!
Look out coons and dogs because we are about to set the woods on fire!!

HUNT

I hunted friday night by myself. First drop I cut Cy and Cotton and they stayed gone for a long time. I finally heard Cotton open DEEP. I moved around and she was just opening sporatically on a bad track. She came down the creek and was headed to some bad stuff so I caught her up. I cut Andy and BB on the next drop. They got deep as well but soon just fell treed. I got around to them and they were on a big den. I called it a night as my headlights were messing up on my truck. We will be at full force this week.

hunt

My lights have been messed up on my truck and I finally got them going yesterday. Drake and myself went for a little hunt last night. First drop we cut Cy and Cotton. Cy struck in a beaver pond and kept trying to tree but Cotton went on and struck going up a feeder stream coming to the pond. Cy went on to her and they worked the track deep in the hills. We ended up walking a long ways to stay within hearing. I soon heard Cotton load up and hammer a tree. Cy was locating but didn't sound sure of himself. We made our way into the trees and Cotton was on a huge red oak. Cy was split treed but didn't take much to see he was slick treed. We leashed him up and went to search Cotton's tree. I soon spotted at least 2 coons and maybe another one on up the tree. I rolled one of the smaller coons out to her just to tease ole Cy a bit.
Next drop we cut Andy and our NtCh BB gyp loose up luxapalilla creek. Andy hit a track and BB soon made her way to him. They ran a good track for about 450 yds and Andy loaded up followed closely by BB. They treed good but the tree they were on ran into a huge water oak and a huge pine on the other side. Just couldn't get him to look. Won't get to go tonight as my 21 year anniversary is today. I will have to keep momma happy and take her out to eat. I will be back at it friday and saturday night!!
Got to get these potlickers tuned back up!!

HUNT

I have been trying to get on track with my hunting. I didn't realize how much I was behind on things because of football season. Hopefully I am about to get caught up.
I hunted by myself Saturday night. I took Cy and Andy. Cotton is showing pretty good so I left her in the kennel. I will try to hunt her a few more times. I cut Andy and Cy in the hills in some good hardwoods. They left hard and soon I heard Andy open followed by Cy. They worked a track deep and I finally heard Andy load up. I made my way to him and got to the tree. Cy was up on the hill above Andy and was still opening. Andy was on a den and I couldn't find him. Cy located and treed about 30 yds up the hill and I went to him. I couldn't find his coon so I don't know if he had it or not. He was on a huge white oak. I gathered them up and made my way to the truck. I moved around and cut them again down a big holler leading into the bottom. They split up and went separate ways. Cy struck and headed over the hill to the next holler. Andy struck and went on down a small creek that runs along the holler. Andy made his way up the hill and across the logging road and loaded up. I got a text message from the land owner saying that Cy was rattling his windows!!LOL I went to Andy and he was up another huge tree. I looked for a little while and couldn't find his coon. Me or him needs an adjustment. Won't be long til there will be no mistaking right or wrong.
I drove around and Cy was blowing the top out in the hills behind my buddy's house. I made my way to him and he had his coon. I didn't shoot it as my buddy has two young daughters that were trying to sleep. I took a couple quick pics and got out of there. I called it a night and will be back at it tonight!!

Thanks Rick. I like him. He does a few things I don't like but he does a lot of things that impress me. You are right , this season will make him a nice young hound.

HUNT

Went by myself for a couple drops last night. First drop I cut Andy and Cy down a big hardwood holler. Andy struck and Cy opened quickly behind him. They worked a track down the holler and soon Andy loaded up treed. Cy would never commit and I made my way to the tree. Andy was treed in the edge of a small creek on a leaning tree. I looked for a long time and was about to give up when I grabbed a long vine and gave it a shake. I seen some eyes way up in the very top. After more looking I seen a tail. I shot and the coon started walking down the tree. He walked down and jumped out right to Andy. Andy made short work of him. Cy was on up the hill but came in to the tree with all the squalling that was happening. I grabbed him and leashed him up to watch. No reward for coming in to the tree late. I finally got those two settled down and made my way to the truck. The next drop I cut them down another hardwood holler. Cy struck followed by Andy and they headed down the ditch. Both dogs located a few times but didn't stick it. Andy stayed hushed for a long time and Cy started treeing. I made my way to him but he was hung up on a DEEP high bank ditch. He couldn't find his way up. I just left him to figure it out. Andy located and fell treed 200 yds on down the holler and I headed to him. He had gotten in some rough stuff. I got to him and he was on a small tree. No coon seen and he got a good adjustment on that one. Cy found his way out of the ditch and came on in to me. I called it a night and we will hit it tomorrow night again. Y'all Keep'em Lookin' Up!!

HUNT

Drake and myself went for a little while last night. First drop we cut Cy and Andy loose in the hills. They struck fairly quick and seemed like a good track. Cy wasn't opening as much but Andy really was liking it. I got a sneaky feeling that it wasn't right. They weren't leaving the area but were making some large circles. I moved around and they were quiet. Andy soon started cold trailing and Cy put in with him. I think they were running a fox to start but fell off on a coon track. They worked the track down a holler and hit a small branch. Andy loaded up treed and Cy soon treed as well. We got to them and they were split. We found neither coon. I was a little frustrated about not finding the coon. I accused Andy of just missing. We cut them again and they went about 400 yds and Andy just fell treed. We got to them and Cy came in to me. We looked and couldn't find a coon here either. It was a large sweet gum with lots of leaves. I am really frustrated at Andy by now. We cut again and they hit a decent track and soon made there way to the bottom. They treed and we made our way to them. They were treed up a large tree but it didn't have a leaf on it. We backed off in the fresh cutover and looked for about 20 minutes. I didn't see a coon. I was really mad by now. I got my spotlight out and looked one more time and man there was the coon sitting out on a limb as plain as day!! How did I miss that sucker I don't know. The coon would never look no matter how hard or loud we squalled or beat on that tree. I got the rifle and shot him out to the dogs. It made me feel somewhat better about the night as I could have over looked coons in the other trees as well. It won't be long and there will be no leaves on the trees and we will know for sure, most of the time!! Gone hit it tonight!!

Won best of show male to make him a show ch and scored 625 circle and 225+ to win a second place. Finished him to NtCh with two 1st and a 2nd.
He was alone on only coon we could get to look.

Andy and I just couldn't seem to get a break. I should have already had him finished but just had a streak of bad luck. Either I would mess him up or he would mess up himself. He was alone most of the night last night and did a good job. I will be breeding a few females to him now to see how he will reproduce. Thanks for the congrats guys and Y'all keep'em Lookin up!
