These pups are the right kind. Mine treed a chicken that tried to roost in the rafters.haha But this past weekend they got her caught and needless to say she wont roost up there any more.

We bred Allen Ellisons Missy female to Smoke this week. Ought to be some really nice pups in this litter.

The heat has been unbearable this week but I might get some hunting in this weekend with Smoke and some of his pups. Now with the kitten coon in the mulberries and some of the corn field races going on these pups should make their move to being coondogs.

Roy sure wish now I had brought that little good looking female home with us. Would have had a hole for here. Hard to come by a female breed like she was and have the looks to boot. Oh well maybe down the road!

Hunting has picked up

Super nice weather for a change.
Been hunting a little trying to keep Smoke in shape and tune on some pups.
Hic is healing and can go for a dump each night. Her foot is healing up pretty good. Just need to take it easy on her for a while.
Working with Second hand Smoke. Then also have Mike and Ike that we are starting. They are 10 months old and need a lot of every night huntin.
Bred Lou but it doesnt look like she is going to have any pups. Might be over for her as far as raiseing pups is concerned.
Bred Allen Ellisons Missy female this past weekend. Allen should have some walcur stompers in this litter.
Also bred Robin and Blueberry just waiting to see if they start showin. Super excited to get pups out of both of them. They will be the right kind.

Hunt

Danny and I cut Smoke and Mo together tonight. Made six trees and they split every time, and they were always 800 or more yards apart. These old dogs just about walked us to death. They both looked really good and had the meat every time. Couple of times we had to walk a good ways to get across the river.
Seems like all week its been tough for the young dogs but these old dogs make it look easy.
Back to hunting pups tomorrow night.

Hot and dry

This hot weather is takeing its toll on me. Have not hunted much lately. Still working 7 days a week and that dont leave much time to get rested up.
Talked to Norm and we are going to super stake smoke and candys litter. Been thinking about SS ole smoke. For sure do it this fall.
Got to get back in the timber or I might get lazy! LOL

get a Polaris or mule! its the only way to outhunt the dogs lol

Pups

Pups are all doing good. Hunting off and on. I think the heat is harder on me than the dogs.LOL
Dave, Blue Berrie is as big as a barn due the 5th of Aug.
Still waiting to see if Robin is going to start showin. She is due the 1st of Sept if she is going to.
Danny has been hunting Hic for us and she is looking good. Prob put her in a hunt in the next week or so.
Smoke is nurseing a sore foot but will be ready for the Zones.
Aaron Gamble came and hunted with us and really liked Hic. He took home Second hand Smoke.
Getting some little bitty rains maybe the tracking will pick up for these pups now.

Blueberry has four pups as of right now and isn't done. They're a little early but seem to be doing ok. We got 2 1/2 inches of rain last night.

Well she had 11 still has 9. 7males and 2females. Just our luck. Needed that turned around.LOL There are going to be quite a few with big blanket back on them. Three or four open spoted.
Tim and Danny hunted last night and Tim said Hic is looking great. Treed one tree that they couldnt find anything in but treed three more times and had the meat in those. Hic treed by herself and had 5 kitten coon on one deal.
Got a call for a male pup going to Washington state. Female going to Canada and another male going to Stillwater Okla.
Gettin spread out.LOL

Smoke X Blue Berrie Pups

Well Timmy and I cant count. Guess we missed a female in the bunch. Anyway we ended up with three females and six males.
Course all the females are spoken for and one male. Leaves us with 5 males if anyone is looking.
Rain has helped the hunting and tracking has improved for the young dogs. Still overwhelmed starting young dogs right now but we are getting it done.
This fall we will have our hands full with these guys.LOL
Smoke is still on the injured reserve list but he is doing better. His foot is healing up and he will be back to runnin in a couple weeks.
Talked to Brian and his Smoke pup is ready for the hunts. She is a litter mate to Hic and sounds like she is as coon crazy as her bro and sis.
Been playing with my Smoke and Candy pups and they are comming along super. Course at 3 months old every thing is fair game to them. Cats and chickens dont stand a chance with them.LOL

Hot humid weather has hit here and our hunting has slowed down a lot.
We are hunting a 1 1/2 old female out of Smoke and Drizz that is turning it on. She is makeing a super nice dog.
Have two 1 year old males out of Smoke and wendy that we are working on too. They both have big motors and its hard to throtle them back.LOL
Got Smoke on the recovrey list. He tore a pad off on a hind foot. Hes healing just got to wait to hunt him. Wanting to keep him in shape for the zone semi finals for the world. Zone 4 location this year is only 40 miles away from us.
Working on takeing the female out of Smoke to the Clinton Mo. RQE this weekend. This will be her first comp hunt so we are crossing our fingers. I think she is ready.

yea these pups are impressive. Natural go getters full of gamey want to.
We hunted both Hic and Robin at Clinton and we both got beat by a couple of really nice dogs. I hunted against a little walker female that sure enough was impressive. She deserved the win.
Blue Berry is down to 7 pups. Still has 3 females and 4 males. They are growing like weeds and are going to be super dark pups.
Putting the finishing touches on Smoke getting ready for the Zone Semi Finals next month. He sure is looking good.
Got a call that Jimmys Smoke pup ran and treed his first coon last night. Said the pup looked fantastic and is a coon killen machine.
Just got to put them in the woods and it all come natural.

well roy i went hunting the other night and i took smoke and janie i cut her loose on this creek on a boat ramp and i cut smoke with her. well janie took off and smoke right with her and they got almost three quarters of a mile going down this little creek as i stood there my garin beep janie treed and smoke treed well im listening and they wasnt moving t on it so i started walking towards that way i walked alittle over a quarter i was tinking i think i hear janie treeing and as i got closer i was staring to hear her more and more and i thought i heard smoke trying to tree as well as i walked in there i notice that the top of the trees are relly thick and its like that for about 100 feet or so and the coon was 2 or 3 three trees over from where janie was treed at and smoke was trying to tree with her and when i shot at the coon i missed it and it walked out of the tree and got gon and smoke figured out that the coon left there and he tried but it was so thick and he treed in a hole and im thinkng it was the coon.but i could be wrong but that was a really hot track but who knows but i will say this hes independant most of the time he wont hardly go with te other dogsi really do belive that he will make a coondog

Smoke

Been runnin smoke a little and his feet seem to be healing up really good another week and he will be 100%.

Jimmy just work the pups with Heart and she will show them everything they need to get goin. They have the genes just put them in the timber and let mother nature take her course. They will make nice ones and will be ready for a hard kill season this winter.

Blue Berrie is down to 7 pups 3 females and 4 males. They are two weeks old and turning really dark. Four big blanket back pups. All are marked really good with good marked heads. Can't wait to start these little dudes.

Starting to really pour it on ole Smoke getting ready for the Zone Semi Finals. Every thing here will get put on the back burnner while we concentrate on that.

Roy good luck at the Zones with Smoke. Our Zone is at Flora which is just a couple hours so it is not too bad of a drive and is pretty good hunting over there, going to hunt Riptide over there and try our LUCK! In a way I feel good about just making it there. Take care and get him ready!
