Well

Elbert isn't here, so all that can be done to preserve what foundation stock he left behind is all that can be done.. As with all dead dog breeders.. No one could or would do what he and Sarah would have unless he left distinct notes or letters on how he felt to carry his line forward. That probably did not happen..... Those who bought up his dogs probably made mistakes, maybe didn't cull as they should etc.... ALL water over the dam now. What you do have are dogs that go back to his multiple generations back... Their roots go to his dogs, their basic genetics are built from Elberts stock... They look as his did they operate in the timber as his did.... Did we gain ??? Did we loose ???? I'm not the judge of that... I'd like to believe we gained some.... I have enjoyed this thread.. It has brought out the good and the bad in some people.... Shown that not all of our ideals are the same, some hold to much higher standards and goals.. Some just try to instigate and cause trouble amougst friends. Here is to 50 more pages and tons more GOOD topics and discussion on Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn and their beloved hound dogs......

Good post Mr Valentino lot of truth in it i have a good freind that new Elbert hunted with him hunted dogs for him there is no dought the foundation to alot of good lines came from Elberts stock acording to the mutual freind Elbert was guilty later in life of not culling and breeding just to breed for the sale of puppys and people need to cull i know its hard folks fall in love with there dog or dogs and they can't do this i enjoy reading this post keep it going

Ole Lady is back here at Blue Dog Kennels. She will be bred again in the Spring. Possibly to Adkins Blue Dog Henry V. Both of these dogs are very dominate in producing their type pups. It will be interesting to see which one will come out on top. The good part is that they both thow well built, big mouth, tree dogs that will TREE MR coon....

Travis ,I agree with you as well with Mr Valentino I believe that to keep the type of hound that Mr Elbert produce is not in just breeding heavy in this bloodline but keeping out the dogs in this bloodline that do not carry such traits. There are a lot of good strain of dogs that came from the Vaughn line and became famous in there own desiarable traits.

Blue IX is back home now. Ken Gregory has been hunting him and his son Chad has been showing him. Thanks Ken and Chad for all the work you put in him.... Ken also raised a litter of pups off IX and his Nite Ch Chloe Bleu female. They are looking good....
