Had a pup from very large reg, beagle and a springer female, would jump grouse and tree squirrels. never had him on a coon but i know he would have done well. He looked like a walker.

working with a guy now that has a 4 year old female GSP for sale. Has a great nose and out of a line of dogs that just hate coons. They have been known to catch em on the ground and kill them. Just a hate for anything with fur other than another dog. If the plans go through, she will be bred to a walker hound that is a track drifter him self. Here are some big names in his ped and there all close. Clover, Patch, Hardwood Henry, Rat Attack, Lipper, Lipper, Lipper, Lipper.

Birddog X FL Cur make a jammed up hog dog they are trashy as pups and love to hit a possum or coon. Fast good hunting dogs that beat the bush.

I told him I was pretty sure I can get rid of the pups. The Bluetick is Spring Hill breed with a triple shot of Raisin Cain and Jenny. He ain't mine but he comes outa the truck slingin dirt and in his first comp hunt was treed 10 minutes before the other dogs could get to him. He went across the big swamp and the other dogs went around it.

Let me know if you do I'd be interested

Any particular reason? I done some looking up on it a while bback about using them on big game I'm wanting to run them on coyote a lot of guys like them and if I remember right they've really got the grit and are smart about not getting hurt when it comes to bear for the most part

Kenneth

I've seen several east of me on speed dogs crossed with running hound a lot of them are english pointer I think

My wife's car just broke down and the money I had for this just went to her car. I also had a redbone I just sold and I have an apt to pull semen from him and I would also have to drive 8hrs one way to get the female. If some one else wants to buy her, I have all the info for the guy who has her. She's 4 and never been messed with for $250. She's just been someone's pet all her life. She has killed a few coons in the water and comes from a line of GSPs that just hate fur.

We have used English Pointer crosses for hogs here in Florida. Before I knew any better I crossed them on catahoulas also. Made great dogs as well for hog. The hound crosses do well on bear also.

But a long time ago I realized that if you need a cross then you have the wrong dog to start with.

I have seen some walker X GSP make some super nice coon dogs. In fact I know of a guy right now that started out with this cross and still breeds for it today and always has a super nice dog on his lead. I'm not saying they are world beaters, but they will give most a run for their money.

I heard that a guy registered one as an English a while ago and was a pretty big Pkc winner and throwing pups. And I know of two that are world reserve world champs in the squirrel hunts.

Bird dog crosses are just like Bigfoot, everyone knows somebody who's seen one and where there are some, just no pictures or proof.

My grandpa crossed a mare and a jackass. He coulda won the Kentucky Derby if they would let mules enter.

I can't seem to post videos for some reason but send me your number and I'll show you a Walker X Gsp that's tree dog. But then again I'm not trying to prove anything to anyone. If you just read through the fourm, the real people that have walked behind them are the only ones saying anything good about them. Lost of people use them on big game, and I'm sure there are more out there than you think. They just throw a fake set of papers on them.

Seems like some of you havent done you research. I am a little rusty on it but near as I can remember all hounds, bluticks, english, redbone, black and tan, walker, all hounds except my beloved plott dogs come from the same dogs originally. So theoretically you could get anything if the right genes click.

Posted by Sy Sparks on 02-10-2015 11:54 PM:

Don't get me wrong, you can. I totally agree with you but, how many would you have to go through? Or how much money would you spend trying to buy it? This deal in particular I feel like it's worth a shot. These pups are super cheap and worth trying. I haven't been hunting with dogs long but I have seen some good walkers and a lot of bad ones. I at one point had to TRY a change. I was up in the air about what hound to get. Bought a couple red bones and kinda liked them but then got my hands on a Mountian Cur. I really really like them because of the brains and they are so versatile. That's why I'm hoping that the Gsp can through some of that in there. I like a bigger type dog that can hunt with its head up and wind and track the body sent than one that has its noes glued to the ground. One that can move through the woods better than a deer and have the grease if you know what I mean. I'm not looking for a comp dog but if it was what it takes than I sure would take em!

Ed ...that was funny......

Im like you...I have heard of half birdog/ half hound crosses from way way back but never seen one in person. I never thought of it like that till you posted about big foot. that made me laugh at loud here by myself. haha

From what I heard from a couple of my older coonhunting buddies, some of our more famous walker coondogs had some bird dog in them. I wont name names cause I wasnt there, but they swear that its true.

Id like to have one myself to turn loose on the place here. they would have to be smart.

I saw a three month old pointer bird dog pup point a robin on a fence post once. that was the darndest thing I ever saw.

Black Panther-Issue solved

I was watching a TV show the other day and this fellow was holding what looked to me like a black panther 3 to 4 month old cub. I can now see where all the confusion comes from.

As I watched this show a little longer, it was explained that this cat I was looking at was actually a black leopard, I think from maybe South America.

But I could certainly see how they could have been mistaken for a mountain lion. I can now see that they could have been brought to North America as a pet and either released or escaped (by/from) its original owner and then start breeding with cats in the area.

To the untrained eye (Like mine) this cat looked like a panther cub, but black in color. I have no idea if they could mate with a mountain lion and reproduce, but this cat sure looked like a black mountain lion cub to me.

So now I must have solved the mystery, LOL!!

South America is home to a lot of Jaguars and is rare but some are black. They also live in Mexico, my neighbor has a ranch there and says they have killed 2 in 20 years that were killing his calf's. These jaguar do come North and cross the border into America and some are black, their spots are more hidden on the black jaguars but in the right light, you'll see them. And, if "V" has a litter on the ground, I'd bet the GSP, hound cross works also, he usually knows what he is doing.
