She is via Pounder 2 x Mid American Rage. She is pretty nice and deserves to be hunted more. Her littermate brother doesn't live far from me and should finish to NtCh pretty easily. If you hear about their litter mates, I'd be curious to know about them because if the whole litter acted like these two, it was a special cross.

Good luck with Pounder 2 and Mindy 3. I have dogs out of each of them.

Thanks Terry! I haven't been spending time with the dogs lately like I'd like to, but that will change soon enough when temps warm up. I'd sure like to come up again sometime, it sure was a lot of fun!

COMPETITIONS ARE UPON US

Kicked off the competition season last Saturday at my home club's TW Sectional. I wish I had some win pics to post, but it wasn't in the cards. My friend Cody offered to handle a dog for me, which I was very thankful for his offer. He has only hunted with Tramp, so I let him have the leash in Tramp's first ever NtCh cast. Sounds like Tramp did some good things, but also showed he doesn't completely have the dust knocked off yet. He treed a couple coon, and the cast winner treed a couple coon, just when mistakes were made, Tramp was a little easier to get talked into joining in. Now we got dumped on with snow, so it's gonna be a little bit again before the hunting gets good again. Seems to be an annual spring thing here in Wisconsin, and I'm getting used to it. Soon enough I'll be complaining about the heat, so I'll just be patient and keep trying to get dogs hunted.

I handled Speck in her first ever hunt. She is in no way (in my opinion) ready for a hunt, but is much farther along than some that get hunted. She has done some stuff I really liked, and since Cody was willing to hunt Tramp, I entered Speck. She did some things I really liked to see, especially for her experience level. A 2nd and 1st on a woven wire that they couldn't get through cost her the cast win. She had 14 min left to tree a coon for a win. She spent about 5 min trying to figure out why the minused out dog was going ballistic in the box, then went in and finished a track a few minutes after the hunt with a den. She made another tree on a timeout that had a hollow log leaning into the tree she was on. I didn't even try to get a look in there.

Had a lot of fun, and got to be the judge for someone's first ever comp hunt. Tried keeping it laid back and explained things the best I could along the way. He said he'd be back and had a great time. Wins will come, but as long as we're having fun along the way and making and keeping friends, that's what it is all about for me.

I've had the hunting and walleye fishing itch lately, so if anyone wants to do either, get a hold of me!!

BLUETICK REUNION

Buck and I loaded up the camper and headed down to Eldon, Ia for the BBOA/BBCHA Bluetick Reunion. As Buck would say, "We're here for fun, if we win it is just a bonus." We had a lot of fun to say the least. We were up till sun came out on Thursday night as well as Friday night. Many laughs were had, and memories were made. We were glad to see the friends that were there, and wish we could've seen some that weren't.

Spit won 5th place in the RQE qualifying him for the world hunt on Thursday night. I managed to end the weekend on a good note by winning my cast with 412.5+ on Saturday night. I needed 425+ for a NtCh win.

Wins will come, but what happens at these hunts before and after the scorecards are filled out, is what keeps me going. Traveling to these hunts and just relaxing around camp has got to be one of my all time favorite things to do.

Reunion

Congratulations on the cast win at the Reunion on Saturday night. Looks like you needed a few more points to get a win but that will come with Tramp for sure. He is a nice one and I enjoyed hunting with you again. I am sure we will draw out a few more times in the future.

HEARTLAND CLASSIC

Tramp won his cast on Saturday night of the Heartland Classic, but didn't have enough points for a win. So far I've hunted him in 4 NtCh casts at the BBOA/BBCHA Reunion and now the Heartland Classic. He has won his cast 2 out of the 4 times. Really makes me wish I could attend more hunts.

4:45 when I crawled in bed & CUB calls at 9 to find out what happened & who won!!! Told him if he wanted to know so **** bad he should have driven up Sat. night, so I could have stayed asleep. People keep telling me I can sleep when I die!!!! Problem is, every day I get up, I figure that's one day closer to the solution of lack of sleep. Congrats on the CW, Brandon. These larger events sure are a lot of fun, but sleep is something that is put on the back burner. Most of my experiences have been good, and it is worth it. Speaking of big events, sure wish I could make Bluetick Days this year, but have had all my free money and then some taken up by things around the house. When it rains it pours. Maybe if I'm lucky I'll be able to sneak out to a local hunt.

Haven't been able to make it to many hunts this year so far, but have been trying to keep dogs hunted up just in case the stars align, and because competitions or not, I love coon hunting.

Here is a video of Tramp and Speck from last Wednesday.

Here is a video from Thursday. It was a good 2 nights of hunting, Tramp made 6 trees with 6 coon. Leaves are getting thick now too.

Not that I'm complaining, but Tramp and Speck haven't been treeing a lot together lately. I was hunting them with a young female pup from Tramp x Gert, and the 3 of them wasted no time shoving one up a big oak. It is very rewarding seeing these young dogs getting it figured out. Looks like I'm gonna have fun in the future hunting pups out of Tramp.

Here's a video of Tramp and Stamp treed together with another coon. I believe Stamp is somewhere around 10 mos old.

2015 ZONE 3 CHAMPIONSHIP

Tramp won his cast last night, but missed out on a NtCh win by a tie breaker. Had he won the tie breaker, 1st and 2nd place NtCh's would've been Jet pups. Congrats to Jake Appel and Bee on the 1st place NtCh win.
