Not been much going on up our way. We've been hunting fairly regularly, treeing a few but doing more puppy training (chasing) and trying to stay warm. February looks to be a big month!

We had a good night last night ahead of this weather. Swag treed two singles but the best part of the night came when my grandpa was able to make it to the first tree that Swag made and he had a coon.

My grandfather is a couple of weeks shy of 80 years old. He still tags along when it isn't too cold or rough. He's the one who started taking me coonhunting at age 3. He's been hunting practically all of his life and has always kept at least one good dog. He's ingrained much of the hunting and training philosophy that I've stuck to with the hounds I have had the pleasure of training. He's seen lots of things come and go but he's very fond of the hounds I'm hunting that have come from Tim and Homemade Kennels.

Simon I can say that I enjoyed the short time I got to spend your Grand dad, I think I could had sit on the tale gate all nite an just lessoned to him talk while you went to the dog's, enjoy it all while you can cause I never got the chance.

I talked to buddy a few Days ago, Hardwood Chance is doing good on drag's, going with the old dogs, very independent, very Loud, said he had enough hunt for 3 dog's, working a young dog in WV in the winter is tuff.

I agree with what you're saying. Too often we get caught up on hunting, dogs, and other parts of life that we forget to remember what's important. One thing he has taught me is that dogs are temporary (unfortunately) but the friendships and the time that we have to spend with those we love that are lasting and mean the most. Every night we get him out and about I count as a blessing.
