I know there was no motion or vote to change it so....if they did get changed....it will not be right. I truly don't think that Kitty changed them because if she indeed did, she would have read them in the general meeting with the words "look into".

No disrespect intended here...but isn't the winter classic, grand american, walker days, autumn oaks, and the world hunt all held when school is in session? Aren't some of these hunts the biggest in the country as far as attendance and participation? Do you think the walker association argues every year to move their hunt date to a time of the year so more kids and farmers can participate? I used to be a member and cannot remember ever hearing that argument at their meetings. Personally, I think more hunters will enter with the earlier date because it is more enjoyable to hunt in april than july. Walker days will be the week before and they have no problem drawing 4 or 5 times as many people as we do in july.

I have been coaching my high school team and running my real estate appraisal firm and don't really have the time to get on the board as it seems many of you do. The motion was read and Kelly Hyde corrected it at the General Meeting. The April dates are put into place, this will take place in 2015. The 2014 hunt in Bellevue will be July 4th weekend as was clearly stated in the bid contract. As per the by laws the bids were mailed out to clubs, this occurred prior to UKC giving us the April date. Due to the delay in getting dates, the 2014 dates were July 4th weekend. This has all been explained to Mr. Hyde who via phone conversations seemed to understand. It was clearly stated at the Southern Meeting and all in attendance were welcome to look at the bids we got and NOT one member bothered to come up and look. The only way there will be further discussion of the date chage or any possible re-vote is if it is put on the agenda at the 2013 National Redbone Days meeting, all items to be put on agenda must be submitted in writing and provided to a board member as was discussed at Southern Days. This should eliminate any possible confusion on the wording of any motions. Mr. Harris was at the meeting so he should clearly understand the dates at Bellevue. The dates are clearly listed on the association site for 2014. 2015 contracts will state the April dates unless a motion to change is brought up at 2013 National Days. My guess is there will be a motion, I do not personally care which date we use. My point is that the membership clearly voted for the April date and until that is changed it will be April 2015.

Another Note

To add another note to this, meeting minutes are mailed to each board member. If a board member is not in attendance of any meeting it is his/her personal responsiblity to contact an officer or another board member if he or she wants to discuss what took place. I have been on the board for a few years, I have never missed a meeting, if I did, I would be sure to contact any officer or other board member at the meeting if I wanted to know what went on. I would not expect someone to call me. A new rule was passed on attendance also, if a board member misses 3 meetings in a row they are automatically removed from the board. There will be no further excused absences, if you miss 3 in a row (which spans 1.5 years in time) you will be dismissed from the board.

I am sure we will see record attendance in Holmesville for our meeting, the membership has spoken on the date. If a change is to be made, it will be made at the General Membership meeting and not behind closed doors in a board meeting, as I stated at Southern Redbone Days. The general membership meeting is for all members and all members votes will be considered. That is the democratic process, see you at National Days.

I just spoke to Dutch....because I was still a little confused about all this.
The vote stands on the motion that passed at last july"s meeting and the new date for National days is april...but...
The bids had been submitted for 2014 for the july date and 2014 will be july 4th weekend. 2015 will be the soonest we can have a bid put in for the april date. He also said there was info on the association website that would answer alot of the questions posted on here. So now I understand this situation a whole lot better and I hope that clears up alot of the confusion.

As I mentioned before it don't mean it's not being worked on just because it's not posted on here .

It would seem it's in place for 2015 which may not be as soon as wanted but this a major change which in reality isn't the first time it's been brought up over the years . If the super hot summers continue this will go thru like poop thru a tin horn but if we get some nasty cold springs it will come up again . Such is life .

A word of caution would be to be at the meeting at 2013 NRD's because if a motion is made and seconded it has to be dealt with and going back and forth on this issue won't be good .

Dale your right , back and forth voting on the same issue is very bad. I would think any motion made on the 2015 date would be considered a motion that was already made, discussed and carried. I could see a motion being allow for 2016 but the 2015 date has alraedy been finalized according to our own website. This kind of "revoting" is not a normal concept and has not been allowed before. It would lead to a breakdown of our own system and certain to cause many future problems. Lets hope for calm heads and orderly systematic business meeting . Everyone have a great day.

I agree with Dale.....if this issue is important to you, try to be at the next meeting in July. Dutch isn't much for saying alot on this forum....but he and the rest of those in charge are taking care of the responsibilities that keep our association strong and growing. They can always use help from those who are interested in becoming involved...so don't be afraid to step up and lend a hand. We need to work together, and do things openly and with integrity .....and that will ensure our association stays strong in the future. Every member is important and so is their vote on important issues like this one. I hope we see a record turnout in July
