I haven't started a pup of my own in a long time but I helped start and train one out of my Brummy dog that is a real nice balanced hound.

i know all your females are some of the best bred Grnitech females in the US that all have all-grand and are from generation after generation of your own females(which is a huge accomplishment). But i guess im just curious....Im sure its a plus and makes the pups you do not keep for yourself more marketable and appealing to the public . im just curious to know if you ever consider any stud that is not all grand?

Dwils - Back when all the Lipper talk was going on with the 2 yr old good stuff and all, it was put up about who should be the 2nd one to get a dose. Travis put up Haley as a choice, got a few replys so he threw in Taylor and her daughter. Lipper does not have an all grand pedigree, and will not throw all grand , so would say Travis breeds for what works more than pedigrees. Tom should have taken Travis up on that offer, I have a feeling it would have amazed a few with the results .

ROADTRIP!!! Best, easiest, fastest starting pups I have ever fooled with... Someome truly hurt the walker breed when they stole him!

Dwils I do consider any walker that I think will throw a high percentage of balanced coondogs. Like Glen mentioned I did offer to breed to the Lipper semen and I did contact Randy Booth about breeding to Mister Jack this fall. However Mr. Booth did say that only about 50% of Jacks semen was good on the last test he had run after missing a couple females. Now I do think a pedigree with no weak links is a good indicator of a possible reproducer but thats just breeding theory and no breeding ideas are as important as a sire being a proven reproducer. Some other dogs I have bred females to in the past that were not all grand include Gr. Nt. Pulpwoods Image, Gr. Nt. Estes' Nocturnal Locker, and Gr. Nt. Brown's Nitehawk Jake. In recent years I have liked the Harry, Rat, Skipper, Harry Bawls and Trackman pups. the five above are all grand and I will lean toward dogs with these bloodlines in the future because they have produced pups that I have liked in the past. I would be very cautious of breeding to a sire with a lot of untitled dogs in the pedigree. I would also be cautious of breeding to a sire with all title dogs in its pedigree but no winning pups.

iam hunting a pup now that neither his ma and pa are famous but the guy that bred them is a hard hunter and i much rather buy a pup from somebody like that. it seems to me people are putting to many bells and whistles on their dog so they can sell pups.
