I was talking to Aub after this hunt. Told him about this little one acre woods. Last year one coon from it. This year 14 with these three. ( 4 hunts ) Go figure. Don't know why. There are no dens that I've found. No ground holes. Nothings been logged out, no old barns.
It's got corn stubble and fresh water. That's it.
All coon harvested were taken from different tree's.
It's my new honey hole. Yeah thats it.

I did hear about Boo... Sad deal, at least she made her impression on several Redbone people while she was here. Bout all you can hope for the way I see it.

I got a 6 bulb LED head for my 26V battery pack. Extremely bright, now I need to send in my battery pack sounds like to get it a little dimmer. Right now, it's either on 1 click, or completely off. Should never have to worry about that blowin bulb thing again.

Went to Darlington last night myself. I was pleased, I had some mediocre coon mixed in with some good uns. I figured if I hit a $10 avg I'd be doing well, and I got $13 something.

I think this year I'm on pace to, or already have harvested more after the 9 day rifle season than prior to compared to years past.

I'm sure there is a lot of key factors that come into play, but this year I can honestly say I've left more coon in the tree for another day, (especially earlier in the season) than I have in years past. With that said, I feel like I'm treeing a lot more coon now later in the season than I normally do as well. I realize the weather has a lot to do with it, and not having to trudge thru deep snow, but just really seems like we're getting a lot of coon treed this year. More coon treed than in the freezer anyways...

After selling hides last night, me and my girlfriend, Nikki, went out for a few drops. Here's a picture we took at the end of the night. Feels good to be able to have 3 singles a few days before Christmas.

Well I'd like to think it's the dog power, but it's prolly some other form of miracle...

I know a farm where I hunt where others do as well, the hunting isn't as good as my other spots where I've been selective. That's what has got me thinking. Not long ago I took Nikki along and we had Bo and Bree. The dogs took off northbound off the farm and onto the next and were not far from HWY 11, but 1.5 miles from the truck and treed with a coon that decided to bail when we were 60 yards from the tree. Been a few drops like that on that farm where the dogs have to go hunting.

We've been enjoying the post and seeing how everyone's season has been going.

Sold to Groenewold yesterday, 177 coon, $15 average. We were tickled with that. Work has been limiting him some the last month, but hopefully he'll be able to get out a little more before the weather changes......assuming it will?! It has been a warmer winter so far, for sure.

Head out right after dark bubba. They're still moving.
The last one was a cold track. took her 25 minutes to cover 400 yrads. But she did cross afrozen over big marsh section. Petted her up real good at the tree. She normally doesn't do good on that type of a track.
