Hey Dave... I finally got out to go hunt last night. My wife and I were on our way to meet my hunting buddy... I saw a coon cross the road so I stopped and dropped Bubba only, knowing he can track if he wants, but He still had never openned on track.. He hit the ditch openned and took off through the field. He tracked it for about 150 yards and lost it. It has been a month since I hunted last. Looks like It's time to get back to hunting.. He openned with a chop mouth, Not surprising being the first time he's ever openned.. I'm sure once he gets confindence in him self he will roll to a bawl mouth.. I also picked up another win on him he now has 3 Grnd Ch. wins... I'll keep you posted on him..

Good job with the win Shelby. How was his mouth on that track? How did the rest of your hunt go when you met your buddy? Looking forward to the next update, make sure we stay posted.

He mostly chopped on track. It was one of them natural openning barks for the first time, he just opened I think without knowing he was openning. I think a month of running now will get him confident in himself then he should open and let it all hangout.. I met my buddy after that. We turned out his dog, and he fail treed Queenie & Bubba went on. Bubba openned a few times on that track, We caught them a mile down creek at a bridge. We had a sever thunderstorm closing in on us. We called it a night and went home.. : ) Going tonight for one turnout, I now need to keep Bubba on the tracks. This means 3 1/2 hrs of sleep throughout the week. : ( I'll keep you posted..

Keep him in the woods and he will go Shelby. I was told once by a guy that them Turkey Creek coons dont run that far. What happened? LOL.

Red, Grit turned 9 in April. Still huntin hard and had 2 litter in the spring with 10 pups in one and 9 in the other. He is still siring good sized litters of pups.

Dave, I went last night.. Queenie struck and Bubba was seconds behind her openning.. She fail treed and Bubba treed for a few min. but had quit treeing by the time I got to them, but he was there at the tree when I got there I tied him back and he treed a little more.. I squalled the coon out and Bubba ran it down into the creek. The creek was rolling hard flooded. The coon crossed and he couldn't find it... I've meant too tell you.. I have NEVER seen a dog that loves the water as much as him.. He will run 2-miles just to sit in a mud hole.. LOL.. So when it comes to swimming he has no problem in that area.. I've seen him stand in the sprinkler and bite at the water spraying out.. :-) He will also lay in the pond here at the house, with just his nose sticking up...LOL..
I'll keep you posted..

Went out last night in the 85 degree heat @ 10:30 last night. It was very bad hunting, Full moon and HOT !!! Bubba openned on a track they all were running. He got some fur last night.. Should give him some extra go.. Think I'll wait for this heat to blow out of here before going again, My fat Queenie dog was sweating Crisco. It liked too killed her running in that heat.. She's old, fat and out of shape.. Bubba was so hot and tired he fail down in the middle of the road when we got back to the truck and laid there not wanting to get up.. It's just to hot to be running dogs here for now.. I'll keep you posted..

113 degrees 4-days straight here.. We have a cool front coming in Tues. 90-93 for 5 days they're saying.. That will be a shock, might want to break out the jacket.. LOL.. Good looking pups in the above Pic.
