I drove to a satellite club once a guy rode with me from there we were headed back to the main club when we remembered that we had left his truck at the satellite club had a heck of a time finding the club, because we left from where we finished the hunt too much BSing going on !!

Your dog can ride in your front seat of your truck and when your truck gets stuck, or your dog gets deep, don't expect anyone to pull your truck out or hear your dog. just keep being a ____ cause it'll come back on ya, guaranteed, but until then just keep being a ____.

see to me, CHEATING (acting like you dont hear my dog when im trying to strike in) or not helping someone with a stuck truck, is VERY unsportsmens like...i carry a tow strap in my truck JUST incase someone gets stuck..

stuff like that WILL drop attendance at clubs and make enemies...

not offering a ride to someone that showed up at a hunt without one and signed up hoping someone decides to cart them around all nite, well, thats not anyones fault but the guy thats trying to bum a ride...

i just feel that adults should act like adults and take responsibility for themselves and their own actions...

showing up at a hunt knowing that you are going to need a ride is IMO irresponsible...i got my own agenda..

like i said in my first post..a guide FORCED me to ride with him...but, said i could leave my truck at his house and it would be safe and we wouldnt be far from it all nite and he'd take me back if i withdrew, got scratched or an emergency came up etc...well, wouldnt you know it, my dog cut her foot wide open...might not have been life of death..but, getting her home and cleaned up, or atleast back to my truck so i could work on it, would have been mighty nice...there was like an hour left..i know were werent more than a mile or 2 from his house..but i got the ole "we gotta finish this hunt" line...

just another reason i wont give or take rides...

a guide ever tells me i have to ride with him and im turning around and going back inside...i will get a refund and go home..or the guide will have to work something else out...didnt make anyone else carpool...why me?

i understand some guys dont want a bunch of trucks..thats fine..but you gotta work with the hunter..ive guided more than once..ive accommodated the cast..if we had a bunch of 2wd trucks i didnt go anywhere we might need 4wd..parked in places we could all fit..i knew i was guiding..i got spots we can park in a parking lots if we have 20 trucks..

that just really ruined it for me when my dog was injured and forced to sit in some strangers dog box for a good 2hrs after i withdrew..

everyone says they wish UKC would comment on this well look at it this way I have been to and hunted autumn oaks several times and when comes time to draw out no one is allowed to leave the building till everyone going to that satelite has a ride they even say not to worry they will get you back just something to think about

Guys there are a million scenarios out there. So if a guy screwed me royal on a dog deal I have to give him a ride. If the guy is a registered sex offender and I have my kids in the truck I have to give him a ride. If the guy is into drugs I have to give him a ride. If he raped my sister I have to give him a ride. See where this is going. How can UKC force me to give a ride to anybody in the United States. I dont think so. Now haveing said all this I still have never refused anyone a ride. But the day I am told what I have to do with my truck is where I put my foot down.

I would give someone a ride if they needed one, because I know how it feels to be young and broke, but still want to go! I have been in their shoes at one time, but I would stay home before I'll beg anybody.

There are a bunch of senarios.

I most always am one of the drivers on a cast. Rarely do I not drive. I like having my stuff and being able to know I can get my dog if something happens. I offer to take those without a ride, but if its a possibility I am not comming back to the club, I will let them know.

At the bigger hunts, when I do drive, it leaves my wife at the room usually with another dog and maybe puppies. Thats an inconvenience for her and an extra expense. But its what we do.

I would never refuse to ride someone and deny him/her an opportunity to compete. I feel sorry for the people that have car pooled to events and have to withdraw because of no ride. It doen't seem right.

I car pool to hunts alot and have been refused rides and had to ride in the back a few times, thats ok.If you are able to give a ride you should.Thanks to David R. I have road with him many nights thanks again.

Everyone in our cast last night rode together in our truck & we had a blast I mite add!

I took it upon myself to do a lil driftin in the crowd while everyone was hookin up with their casts. Pretty happy to say not once was there any sorta wankin & wimperin about the rides. Did hear a lot of,"Your welcome to jump in" though. Three capable of driving but a mutual thought was,"No sense in takin anymore than we need" was common phrases I heard..........................

Not so much of a "SCREW YOU" among the crowd just like it always is in these parts>!

well the way i look at it is unless u going out your way to give someone a ride it shouldnt be a problem. i mean u was going back to the club anyway

YEP YOUR RIGHT BUT SOME ARE PACKING JUNK FOR COONDOGS AND TRY TO MAKE UP FOR THAT WITH A TRUCK THAT THEY CAN SHOW OFF. SO IF YOU EVER GET TO RIDE IN ONE OF THOSE COONDOG LACKING TRUCKS TAKE SOME HOUSE SHOES WITH YOU SO YOU DON'T DIRTY UP THE COON TREEING ABILITY.

Honestly I think its sad that Fellows hunters wont help each other out more. Maybe they are afraid the other mans dog is better than theres.

I don't mind letting people ride but it can have its problems. I have been asked to ride with another hunter by a judge/guide then screwed me by not helping get my dog when he got out of pocket with timeout called. Won my cast one night then the guy that all 3 of us were riding with locked the keys in the truck. Missed the deadline. If you drive ,its all on you.

so how far should someone have to go out of their way to get someone witout a ride back to the clubhouse when no one else is going back?

times are alittle tough, do you think it would be too much to ask for someone to cover my entry fee also, being the sportsman thing to do and all?

btw, i almost always give someone a ride at the hunt, but for some to make it out like its an obligation is ridiculous. and again, it isnt the getting them to the woods part, its the getting them back part and down here that could mean a very long ways out of the way you are heading.

I'd would have insisted that the MOH file a report of unsportsman like conduct on that fellow and then followed up with UKC on it.

Here's one for you, you have someone riding with you that is handling a dog for owner. Owner ask you to link up to dogs collar as handler doesn't have receiver. during the hunt time out is called because dogs have gotten out of pocket and close to highway.you are approximately half mile from truck, when gps connects your riders dog is running up middle of highway yours is treed about 50 yards in front of truck in opposite direction from where you cast. when you get back to the truck, do you go get your dog to keep from being scratched? Do you go gather other dog up who is now running down the middle of a major 2 lane highway and risk the hour catching you? What obligation do you have to someone else to retrieve there dog in danger. Give me your answers then i'll tell you what happened.

I don't care if it means loosing the world hunt, I am going to try and get that dog!

this is another good reason to hunt pkc someone is going back to the club;;;; ps not kicking ukc maybe. if there was always a CW winner this could help get someone back to club JMO

giving rides is a priviledge not a must ! i almost always give a ride cause i normally guiding and judging and i like to cut down on trucks and its not really out of my way to go back to club house , but like i said in a earlier post dont carpool to a hunt with 2 spectators and exspect them to get to ride along , and the bigger hunts people are out for blood and if they get a chance to send someone home early cause you dont have a ride - it sucks but thats how people due one another now days ! everyone needs to come togethor as coon hunters and help a fella out on a ride or whatever it may be , but alittle thank you , or offer a guy a few bucks for gas or a cup of coffee at least in return . i personally like having conversation with someone riding with me but use common sense dont trash a guys truck up cause you dont care bout yours , i know your coonhunting but take your trash with ya when you get out , everyone use alittle common sense !

its not about not being able to afford the gas its about being smart with your money and not wasting it on gas and carpooling to the bigger hunts.

btw i always offer to help pay for gas and usually buy breakfast.

.......no, sir................not sayin' that at all.............AM saying that if you are THAT strapped for $$$..........WTH are you doing at a $20 or more entry fee night hunt???????..you can't afford the gas.....but you can afford eating away from home, staying away from home, whether it be camping or a motel room, and the entry fee???........I just addressed the argument that folks are "poor and broke", as someone stated......but still at a hunt????.......hmmmmmm......ps-and you can ask all on here that know me.......I ALWAYS offer a ride to another hunter...............good sportsmanship, PLUS my landowners rather have one less vehicle on their place........
