ok,
my aunt raises dachshunds and has some of the BEST. this did not happen overnight. this happened after 25 years of careful breeding and alot of showing. 25 years. so, that makes her a very reputable breeder. this line was and is perfected. she does not breed any of her dogs until they are champions. now, this being said, she gets no less than $900.00 for a pup. $600.00 for semen.
my point is, if you want a reputable dog from a reputable breeder that has logged the hours within his kennel. you will obviously pay alot more because you know you will be getting quality from quality.
if i have a 4 carat diamond ring, flawless, why would i sell it for the price of a zirconian????

Wow this is getting deep! I do believe that the price of pups has kinda sky rocketed but obviously people don't mind paying it so if someones willing to pay 2500 for a pup more power to them, but with SO many people selling pups who is a reputable breeder? Seems ever body wants atleast 300 a pup outta dog ive never heard of.

i understand yur view,i can't afford a 2500 dollar pup or a 40,000 dollar challenger so i just don't look,this thread was just interesting,at least i aint the only one who can' afford them high priced dogs,but then,who the heck can

Come on guy why you have to take shots at the man he was just stating that prices for good pure bred pup are high. You may not like weiner dogs and never buy thats fine but have a little respect..

My advice for those of you complaining about pup prices is go to your local coonclub and spectate on a few casts and you will more than likely find a very good dog that you would like to have a pup out of of that wont cost an arm and a leg.

I know of two dogs that hunt out of my local club that I would rather have a pup out of than 99% of the advertised studs I see in the books or on the classified page.

Most of the time pups out of these dogs are sold very reasonable or given away.

Alright come on guy's I know I opened a big can of worms here but we do all have a common ground here we all love to coonhunt and yes some of you might be great spellers unlike me but let quit taken shoots at each other this was all started by me a man feed up with high prices not just on pups but everything I can get on here and complain about pups but I cant get on a gas website and complain I should have just keepted my mouth shut Im not going to buy a high priced pup plain and simple but yes im going to buy gas week after week cause I have no choice so once agin Im sorry for the toes I stepted on.
