TREED ONE OF THOSE DARN THINGS LAST NIGHT. VERY THANKFULL NONE OF THE DOGS GOT ANY QUILLS. HE WAS HANGING ON THE SIDE OF THE TREE ABOUT 30' HIGH.

RMCMILLAN......In NH it is a year round season as long as you carry a regular hunting license.

I would rather have my dog sprayed by a skunk once a week, than get quilled once a year.

When he was a pup he would come back with every quill from the porky in him. Luckily the dog trusted me enough just to lay there and let me pull them without a struggle.

At least now when he comes back with quills they are on the side of his muzzle or in the front under his chin and nose. I honestly thing that they are backing in to him and swatting him with their tails.

I had a porky one night come down a hill, right to me and start wacking me with its tail. It would not leave me alone.....he didn't make it.

HERE THAT GUYS, IN NEW HAMPSHIRE THEY ARE LEGAL TO HUNT ALL YEAR WITH A VALID HUNTING LIC.

MAYBE WE CAN PRESSURE THE PENNSYLVANIA AND MARYLAND GAME COMMISSION TO HAVE A HUNTING SEASON ON THEM. MOST GUYS ARE HUNTING THEM ANYHOW.

I try to forget these things!

The worst dog I have seen actually killed the porcupine, and then continued to roll in it until every quill was in her...back, head, tail, legs, chest, ears, nose, throat, tongue, etc.....It took 3 hours to pull them...and she just stood there like nothing was going on while we did it.

The dog definitely had a screw loose.

The gift that keeps on giving....

My dog hasn't been the same since his "incident" a month ago. Just seemed like his nose wasn't working that great and he was being real quiet.

Guess what I found?

I was petting him up a bit under his chin and felt a small rough spot. I started really picking and realized it was a quill....GREAT....I ended up finding 4 quills that were straight in about 1". They were going into where his tongue attaches to his bottom jaw.

Thankfully he just laid there while I dug them out.

Took him out a few times and he seems better. I was wondering if there was some swelling, which in turn might affect his scenting?
