He probably has been around enough smokers to know what he is talking about.

I smoked for nearly 15 years. I couldn't smell ANYTHING until I quit. Now the smell makes me sick to my stomach.

If I was guessing,m I would say they banned smoking on their grounds to keep from having to clean up the cigarette butts everywhere.

I was at SETWD's and was ashamed at the number of cigarette butts on the ground and being THROWN on the ground by visitors there.

If you want to smoke that is your choice and I don’t have a problem with that. But for the most part smokers are very disrespectful to those of us that don’t smoke. As a non-smoker the smell of the smoke makes me sick to my stomach and it is worst since I’ve been pregnant. I try my hardest to stay away from people smoking so I don’t have to worry about what it is going to do to me. But when you have people walking around smoking without a care as to where their smoke is going or where they are flicking their ashes it makes life very difficult. I have had smoke blown at me along with ashes flicked on me by smokers not caring who was walking by. With so many laws about smoking inside, smokers feel they should be able to smoke outside wherever they want to with no concern about others around them. I think it is great they are making this a smoke free event, I wish our local club would do this as well.

i agree with this post, so you enforce littering laws. try to educate people on the mess they make with butts. their is no need to make up new rules just because you cant enforce the rules that already exist.

some people need to stay busy minding their own business, i don't need your help minding mine.

just my thoughts...............

What would be wrong with just setting up Smoking Areas?
Most smokers wouldnt have a problem with that.

I have seen several posts that have said if you don't like the smoke you can just move away. That is not always possible. If you are standing in line, if you are at a movie, or out to eat, or in a crowded room. I hate it around kids. Some smokers are very aware of those around them and make every effort not to inflict their habit on others but some are not. As always, the abusers ruine things for everyone. I am a non-smoker. I have bad allergies and suffer greatly from cigarrette smoke. I have no problem with someone smoking outdoors, and as long as I do not have to suffer from someones habit, I have no problem with it. This has been a law in my state for some time and I enjoy eating out without having to fight for fresh air. We have enough polution problems as it is, and if I can avoid one up close and personal I am all for limiting smoking to outdoors. Make a smoking area, nonsmokers will have no problem with that!

I agree, but just because its outside and the air moved freely does not mean that a person will not be in the path of that airflow. If smokers could be a little more considerate and point their mouth and head UP, the the smoke would go over people's head instead of into it.

Its funny to see this many people up in arms about not being able to smoke, but you cant get half this many to care enough to contact their legislature to help stop and fight against some of the ridiculous hunting and dog bills that are being proposed. If the smokers put this much energy into that, the antis wouldn't have a chance. jmo

Well if the Anti-Smokers, Anti-Everything else would spend more time fighting for everyones rights rather than imposing their will onto others...then the Anit-Dog/Hunters would also never have a chance !!!

Sorry I spent 22 years giving folks the right to say and do what ever they wanted per our Constitution and Laws to be forced to do something the MINORITY wants all the rest of us to follow.

I've seen all the Anti Smokers here in Illinois raising cain to get smoking out of the bars, resturants and they don't even go to them, and now they are failing and closing faster then anything I've seen.

There were "Non-Smoking places" but that was not good enough for them...they wanted all of the places to be non-smoking and to FORCE their WILL onto others...just like the Anit-Hunters, Peta, and the HSUS !!!

Well I watch were I smoke, field strip my smokes, throw the butts in the trash and if my money is not good enough along with my habits then count me OUT..simple and its my way of protesting against the Minority few and for my rights as an American !!!

See you at another hunt down the road !!

smoking

my personal opinion is if a town or state has a smoking ban they should not be able to sell them...if that was the case we would hear it no more

I doubt that the Minority is non-smokering bar goers. I shouldn't have to taste cigarettes while I'm eating my food. I grew up in a house of smokers and have watched my mother lie in the hospital to have 3/4 of a lung removed from Cigs but not once did they ever sit and think about us kids riding in that car with the windows just barely cracked chain smoking. People think about your kids while you are smoking around them. I now have the worst allergies you could ever imagine. I cannot even stand to be around someone smoking but I don't have a problem with you smoking outside.

I agree Kenny. Being a former smoker,I can say that smokers are the most self centered selfish folks there is. I sat down one day and conservatively estimated what I had spent on cigs in the 15 years I smoked and I could have easily sent both of my children to a good local college.

Having said that. i think everyone should be able to smoke if they want to. Just please realize that people don not stand downwind of a campfire fire a simple reason.

Posted by Mark A. Hauck on 05-18-2009 11:28 PM:

Folks I guess I missed something, but my parents smoked, never in the house, never in the car when we where in it and I do the same. I have my Grandsons here almost every weekend, never smoke around them, as most know we don't smoke in the house and never in the car with the kids or grand-kids. Maybe I thought a large percentage did this.

As for your food, if there are 2 eating places in town and one is non=smoking and the other smoking ...go to the non-smoking place.

What we saw here in Illinois is the non-smoking places in Chicago were flat going under because hummmmm those folks did not seem to go out as much as smokers, so they wanted all to suffer their same fate. If I took my mom (a non-smoker) out to eat we went to a non-smoking place simple but nope seems a group would rather IMPOSE their beliefs onto the rest of us....

Humm kinda seems like some other organizations I know of

Just like human nature to argue!
I agree with Downing, better things to talk about.
Richard was just stating something and now it's a hot topic.

Get on with life, it's to short to be mad over something like this.
Could be alot worse off. I bet the men and women serving our country wish this is all they had to complain about!

i hope u really dont mean this, do any of you clowns complaining about second hand smoke outside have any idea what other far more hazzardous chemicals are in our air?
you ever see that john travolta movie "boy in the plastic bubble"? you should really consider moving into one to be safe from the dirtty air.

also truthfully, i just dont understand why they dont just outlaw smoking. it would be much easier.
