To correlate the two is a last ditch stretch of desperation.

I want to give a little example of the bad results of unequal strengths. for the last 7 years we democrats have been concerned about unwarranted eavesdropping, datamining, and unwarranted collections of emails and text messages. we were unable to do anything to stop Bush from convincing you that it was ok.

The republican party will need to reinvent itself as the "small government party" and the "right to privacy" party. and if they dont reinvent themselves as the fiscal conservatives then who will?

There are very few Democrats left that are in office. The Democratic party has become Socialist and the Republican party has become mostly what the democratic party used to be with a few differences. In MN. there are only two real Democrats left one is Colin Peterson and to a lesser degree Tim Walz. Both are in the U.S. house. The rest are Socialists. Obama is not a Democrat he is a Socialist, leaning more to Marxism. McCain is not a Republican but a mix of Republican and Democrat.

we are actually seeing the failure of managed (or mismanaged) socialistic capitalism NOT free market capitalism.managed socialistic capitalism is what we've had for the last 100yrs. the former is the exact thing ayn rand described
in atlas shrugged. and, just like in atlas shrugged, i think the men of the mind have left the game to the looters. the goverment wants houses for everyone- let them have it, it doesn't matter if they pay it back or not---give them the money. it doesn't matter if they have no concept of value and want to overpay for the property hoping to make a quick buck--- give them the money. read your atlas shrugged again and know that without the men of the mind- the very men that are the true leaders, then who is it the followers have to follow. question--- where do the "workers" work if there is no one to give them a job?
question--- why would any private capital come into this market to "save" it when the public is so contemptuous of anybody that they think is rich?
question--- why would anybody with any brains and capital throw any money into the market with the high percentage chance the government will nationalize it?
if you are going to use ayn rand as a source- please get a correct handle on the philosophy.
p.s. i have to second what 1939 just wrote.

"Kim Jong-Un speaks and his people sit up at attention. I want my people to do the same.” An actual sitting US President said that. Let that sink in.
I see you are from Tennessee Wingman.
How is it that your Governor can use state troopers to look into private files on private citizens that were against his campaign and fire troopers that were against him in the election and not be found guilty of the same thing Palin was??
the Fact is she could have fired the drunken, death threatening, child tasering trooper herself but didnt want to due to her family's relationship with the trooper in question and when she fired the man who wouldnt fire him(who also just happens to now be on obama campaign staff for Alaska) she fired him.
What kind of person, overseeing taxpayer paid employees, would not fire a trooper guilty of drinking alcohol, on the clock, in his state funded /owned patrol car, making death threats from a state paid for cell phone, and using a state owned taser gun to taser a child with?
There was a story from Tennessee about a sheriff firing a deputy for tasering a citizen as a prank a few months back. Should he be found guilty of abuse of power as well.
I will also mention that Palin committed to crime and did not break any laws.

you know it sound a bit partisan when one home boy was touting this as the Oct.surprise....
and the prosecutor say the claims were bogus....
when...
"The record clearly indicates a serious and concentrated pattern of unacceptable and at times, illegal activity occurring over a lengthy period, which establishes a course of conduct totally at odds with the ethics of our profession," Col. Julia Grimes, then head of Alaska State Troopers, wrote in March 1, 2006, letter suspending Wooten for 10 days. After the union protested it, the suspension was reduced to five days.
seems Col. Julia Grimes has some splaining to do...
especially when...
Troopers eventually investigated 13 issues and found four in which Wooten violated policy or broke the law or both:
• Wooten used a Taser on his stepson.(dats1)
• He illegally shot a moose.(dats 2)
• He drank beer in his patrol car on one occasion.(dat's 3)
• He told others his father-in-law would "eat a f'ing lead bullet" if he helped his daughter get an attorney for the divorce.
hmmmm, who telling the truth now???
OOOOPS
Sen. Gene Therriault, R-North Pole, said the report is flawed because Branchflower didn't take into account statements and other materials submitted earlier this week by Todd Palin and administration employees.
Therriault said Todd Palin's written response indicates that Gov. Palin, at some point, urged her husband to drop his efforts against Wooten. That information goes to the heart of Branchflower's conclusion that the governor violated the ethics law, Therriault said.
Therriault said Branchflower was unable to consider those late-arriving materials "because we had this artificial deadline today."
"Why?" he continued. "Because the ethics board refused to review all of the documents submitted to them."

On April 11, 2005, McCann filed for divorce from Wooten.
That day a judge granted a Domestic Violence Protection Order (DVPO) against Wooten.
The same day, McCann's father Chuck Heath phoned police to inform them about the DVPO.
Also that day, police spoke with McCann. She said Wooten had threatened to shoot her father if he hired an attorney to help in her divorce.
McCann said that although Wooten "has never physically abused her," he "acts very intimidating."
She also accused him of using illegal testosterone supplements, drunk driving, and threatening to "take down" Palin if she got involved.
McCann said she was "scared" of what Wooten "would do when he finds out she has hired an attorney."
On March 1, 2006, Wooten was notified of the results of the Alaska State Trooper internal investigation. The probe found that Wooten violated internal policy, but not the law, in making a death threat against Heath.
Wooten denied having made the threat, but the investigation decided that he had in fact done so.
The investigation concluded that the death threat was not a crime because Wooten did not threaten the father directly; therefore, the investigator deemed the threat to be a violation of trooper policy rather than a violation of criminal law.
Although the death threat was listed as a violation of trooper policy in the Memorandum of Findings issued on October 29, 2005, it was not mentioned at all in the suspension letter sent to Wooten by Col. Grimes on March 1, 2006.
Wooten was also found to have violated department policy in using a Taser on his then 11-year old stepson in 2003.
He told investigators that he did so "in a training capacity" after the child had asked to be tased.
In a September 2008 newspaper interview, Wooten said that he set the Taser to "test" mode, meaning that it was on low power.
In a statement to police, the boy said "he wanted to be tased to show that he's not a mommy's boy in front of Bristol [his cousin, Palin's daughter].
Following being tased he went upstairs to tell his mother that he was fine."
In a statement to police, Molly McCann said "she was up stairs giving a bath to the kids … Mike was going to show Payton what it feels like and she told Mike that he better not."
According to Molly's account, she remained upstairs during the incident.
Although the Taser incident happened in 2003, it was not reported to police until on or after April 11, 2005, the day McCann filed for divorce.
On June 6, 2005, a police investigator asked Bristol why they "waited so long and brought the incident up after two years." Bristol said "because of the divorce."
Based on the internal investigation findings, Grimes announced on March 1, 2006 that she would suspend Wooten for ten days. In announcing the suspension, Grimes referred to the Taser, moose and beer incidents, and also to seven other negative actions in Wooten's personnel file, such as failing to use turn signals. She concluded that "The record clearly indicates a serious and concentrated pattern of unacceptable and at times, illegal activity occurring over a lengthy period, which establishes a course of conduct totally at odds with the ethics of our profession".
After a union protest, the suspension was reduced to five days, and Wooten was warned by Grimes that he would be fired if he committed any further misconduct.

abortion should not be a political issue especially at the federal level... supporting the right for a woman to have a choice is not the same as supporting or advocating for abortions... tough and devisive issue...

we are screwd either way. john is for hunting rights and is a true american, but might not have the best way to bring the country out of debt infact it sucks. well on the oother hand we have obama. who has a good economic plan but want gun control and has never worked a real american job out side of goverement. no one can figure where all his money comes from, or how he has the connections he has you guys are right when you say our country is on the line. i am not a republican or a democrat but i just dont believe obama is the right way to go is he a true american. I GUESS IS HE A TRUE AMERICAN IS MY QUESTION IT REALLY BUGS ME HE DOSE NOT SALUTE OUT FLAG NOW THINK ABOUT THAT
from the LA TIMES:
The NRA on Thursday officially endorsed John McCain, though that was merely a formality given that it had already spent $2.3 million on attack ads targeting Obama. This puts the organization in the odd position of throwing its considerable political clout behind a Republican candidate whom its official journal once called "one of the premier flag carriers for enemies of the 2nd Amendment," and against a Democrat who never tires of telling voters that he believes in the right to bear arms. So what gives? Apparently, the NRA thinks that McCain's past legislative sins against gun ownership are forgivable, while Obama's are not.
