Trav, hunted the plainview hunt. didnt do so well. the grands all started the night nabbing a skunk. pleasure hunted after that. coon weren't moving real good where we were. I think 4 of 6 casts came back dead at that hunt. oh well, next time.....
heard conditions were tough in marshfield also- no plus on grands?

Brad got rear ended on the way home- someone fell asleep at the wheel and forgot to change lanes! sounds like he will be all right- dog is ok, car is totaled.

mark- there aren't many harry females up in our country- one got bred in iowa last year she had pups but complications in first week or so - none of them made it. would love to try a cross on a good harry female sometime. if you have the right one- we have a little semen in oklahoma city.

gudgeon- whats the mother of this pup? keep us posted.

I bought "Edge" from Duane Eiseman. "Edge" would be "Kokane's" littermate brother. They're off a Sackett Jr. female, "JJ". Duane told me "JJ" passed away recently.

Here's a couple pics... Edge is being handled on bench by my girlfriend, this is her first time ever handling a dog on the bench.

Hey Brandon- I have heard of dogs beating the coon to the tree, but based on the time stamp on your digital photo- Edge ran that track so fast that he moved the calender ahead by 24 days!!!!!!!!!!
Glad to hear you got that dog- I just heard from Duane that he was really turning the crank. I drew Kokane twice at the world semis, he is a nice dog. Sure that Edge will be also. Good Luck!
Ben

TIME STAMP

After the pics were taken I finally realized my camera was off a month... LOL

I took Edge out the other night, did really well. He took a track and treed about 1/2 a mile from where I dropped him in. I didn't think the coon were really going to be moving as it was a little cool, and it had been really warm not too many days prior. He ended up treeing one, and then my other dog was running a different track. I got to where Edge was treed, cut him loose again, and he went and finished the track with my other dog, "Remi", and they treed together. It was awesome!! I took only a few photos as we were about 200 yards from a house and their dogs were going nuts. The pictures weren't the greatest, and they don't do them any justice. The dogs were treein HARD!! I'm not a fan of my new camera, everytime I go to snap a pic, it has to flash about 15 times before taking the picture.

that sounded like a super cross- good luck and keep us posted. I have to admit it was a real honor that John Monroe would own a dog of my lineage and say such good things about her. Lizzy sounded like she turned out real nice. any idea who owns her now?

What is a typical Tucker dog? Size...Mouth on Track..Mouth on Tree..How they hunt.... Early Starters?

Posted by truly on 04-15-2009 03:25 PM:

Generally speaking, a little more track oriented, colder nose, squallier on track and more independant than usual. There are some off any program that dont fit the mold- Tucker has thrown a few silent track dogs, a mean one or two, one or two with accuracy problems, however these are generally their strong points- that they open quick, can handle the tracks as they come and are self confidant enough to be accurate. As far as I know he has never produced a dog that had a mouth that was hard to hear. I can think of at least 5 Tucker dogs that folks have told me that they thought were the loudest dog that they had ever heard. Many thought Tucker was the loudest dog that they had heard. As far as size- generally a little smaller- some big ones 70-75 pounds, but many 45-60 pound males, 35 to 45 pound females.
Many of the Tucker dogs are turning out to be good reproducers also.
Generally hunt pretty hard and wide.
Generally start moderately young. 7-12 month old pups can be expected to be treeing or tracking. Not the kind of dog to peak young though- generally they are smart enough that they get better and better with age.

xtra won third grand and high scoring female on saturday night. placed fifth in lee crawford on thursday. another tucker grandpup [sassy 2] placed ninth in lee crawford. cowboy jr and cowboy had opportunities to pull it together and do some winning but like 90% of us who attended this years walker days- we are traveling home with "coulda shoulda woulda stories". for what its worth, imo, the sportsmanship, and guiding out of cadiz made this a very enjoyable walker days for everyone that i talked to. would have been nice to see more coon, but most of the winnning scores were totallly legit.

Wayne- thanks again for caring for Tucker this last year. Tucker is now back in Minnesota for anyone interested.
