I'll tell yall this and this is true, if there's one thing i have learned coonhunting it's this, there is absolutly NO LIMIT to what a dog like the one i described above and a slick handler can do.

A dog like the one you described will win some small hunts. They WILL NOT win larger hunts with any consistency. Sometime during a world hunt, a pro hunt or whatever the will draw a dog that will tree a coon. A dog like that shouldn't be too hard to beat, it is wasting all of it's time making trees not treeing coons.

Crap a dog like hes talking about want even win in north ga...I'd pay money to draw one like that every single hunt that comes! A slick handler cant do nothing about another dog treeing coons!

If a dog is babbling and the handler waits the minute until he strikes HER he should them be minus a hundred and than warned. Same goes for a regular hunt, vote on and do the same. The problem is people want put the rule into affect. Akc has it master in my opinion on there countdown system.

Since I couldnt find the other post you made about the finals a couple years ago. I take this post as directed towards ME AND MY OLD GIRL. I'll try my hardest to win one honestly, I guess. I needed a little motivation.....................thank you.

PS your best friend RB drew her 2 times in the zones ask him how many times she babbled??????????

If you would like to call me 563 343-7859. anytime after 5:00

Yep, If they never shut up but get struck three barks after the minute, that dog needs the 100-. The handler will scream bloody murder. However, when the rest of the hounds on the cast don't strike for several minutes and the babbler is right with them when they do, it needs minused.

I'm still trying to understand why a dog is minused (strike points) for coming into a plussed tree but circled (strike points) for coming into a slick or circle tree. What is the difference? They both quit their track. They both came into a closed tree. Circle strike if no coon is seen, minus strike if coon is seen. What is the sense in that? Can someone explain the reasoning?

How about minus strike points (because they have quit their track) for any dog that comes into any tree after it is closed without reguard for how the tree is scored?

No, I'm not gonna ask the TWB&FA to put it on the ballot. It wouldn't get a single vote.

I agree that sounds like a winner.

It dont much matter which rules are changed to , what matters the most is if you have Real CoonDog on your lead . This game is not that hard but people makes it alot harder . What makes every rule alot easyier is having a Real CoonDog then everything is cut and dry ( Strike , Tree , Plus , Minus or cricle ) the rest is water under the bridge

The only thing a rule like that, or a tree countdown or something like that will do is make it harder for a me-too dog to win and easier for a real coondog.

you are right

that is why they have the hunt test now for real coon dogs. i hope someday they will make everydog before it is awarded championship honors pass the hunt test. this can only better the breeds and qualilty of hounds.

sure they can. A truely experienced handler with no moral values or conviction in there heart can and do get by with nearly anything. That other dog may tree coons but I've saw too many folks stand there and look at a coon so plain you can count the rings on his tail and simply say they cannot see a coon. Then, you have the hunting judge and guide that is very very skilled at leading the cast directly away from another dog treed way off deep by himself somewhere. I've saw it happen. The list goes on and on. A truely experienced handler with an Honest heart is a diamond to be treasured. I've only met a couple. Thats it.

hunt test

how many people on this forum have taken and passed the hunt test with your dog. if so, thats great, but if not, how then do you know if you have proven that your dog deserves to be called a coon dog and not a me too.

You must live in an area with a lot of crooks. I have hunted a bunch of casts and I can easily count the times that I have actually been cheated on one hand.
It takes two crooks on a three dog cast or three on a four dog cast to get much cheating done. I am certianly not saying that cheating does not happen. I am saying that it does not happen nearly as offten as some say that it does.

\That test done prove if you have a coondog or not LMAO!!!!!!!!! It is a step in the right direction.

i'v had 2 to pass & they are alot of fun & yes that would be a good thing to have a dog pass 1 leval before every degree earned !!

Posted by josh smedley on 08-14-2008 06:34 AM:

It seems pretty stupid to me to pay someone to hunt with my dog.
If passing a hunt test means that a dog is something special it will gain popularity without connecting it to the nite hunt program.

Posted by blackisback on 08-14-2008 10:35 AM:

yes there is some things need fixing. but dont minus a dog just because comes to a tree late. maybe the dog just never ran across the track,or any other track.and he is just coming waiting on the next drop.maybe first dogs all are just LIEING dogs do that. ( MY GRAN PA ALWAYS SAID IF IT IS NOT BROKE DONT FIX IT)OR( STOP TRYING TO REINVENTING THE WHEEL) i was reading one of the reply. and it said something that made me think, (TRAIN THE DOG TO THE RULES NOT THE RULES TO THE DOG).NOW THINK ABOUT THAT.

Posted by josh smedley on 08-14-2008 12:31 PM:

It just doesn't make sense to me to minus a dog for coming to a tree that is plussed but not a tree that is minused or circled. I do not understand that logic. The dog should have found a track, he was struck.
