Well, Im 4 days in and have 24 coon up and im hunting like I do every night. So when yall's weather clears up and you start treeing coon im guessing were going to do more than that barring any unforseen tragedies. The hunting is good here now but its only going to get better, and it has to get better for the MN crew.

Guess Team # 8's goal is going to be 500 + coon. If I have to , I can rack up pretty fast in short order with a few extra hrs a night hunting.

I figured wrong I have 28 coon on the board. I think im beating all the other teams combined by myself. lol EDIT: Im 7 coon away from beating all 54 other people lol Ive been blessed with awesome weather, all the time in the world to hunt, and LOTS of coon with coondogs to sit underneath them though.

I start at dark and try to hunt till 3-4 am. One of those nights I didnt get out until midnight though. My average is about to go up after tonight. We had a steady rain from the time I turned loose at 8:20pm until I pulled Jake off the last coon treed at 3:30am. I went through 2 sets of froglegs 2 pairs of jeans 4 shirts and 3 briar proof jackets but I love hunting in the rain. One of the reasons is that with a steady rain like we had it washes away alot of the colder tracks so the tracks you are hitting are medium to hot and alot less chance of putting it on a den. My theory about washing out tracks held true tonight... getting ready to post pics.... I train pups also by the way lol

I just wish I could get him to change that name.....englishman. In all the time I've known him, I've seen him turn an English dog loose about four times....

He's officially converted to Walkers..... well, at least until Walker Days in a few weeks....

I hate getting beat in this contest by my own dogs...but hey...I'm gettin some great pictures!

The first dog i ever had was a ntch female out of Jet 5 and she was tougher than nails, but the first dogs I started winning with were english. Ive been registered under this name for 5 yrs. Now I will hunt anything that is a coondog, doesnt matter to me.

Posted by ironwood on 03-19-2008 10:09 PM:

maybe one of theese nights i will see a coon over my dog? just a thought..
