Here is a picture of old Meat, a son of Ranger II and natural Blue Rose.

This is the dog that sold me on the Ranger blood.

He was a coon dog. That pretty woman holding him is my wife.

I'm pretty sold on her too.

This a female Billy Moon owned named patches.

She was a littermate sister to Ranger VI.

This picture doesn't do her justice. You could wear out a pickup looking for a better looking bitch than she was.

This picture brings back a lot of good memories.

When I lived back home in the hills, I hunted a lot of early Satirday mornings in the winter time.

My old Belle female would trail them up after daylight and tree them in those old Post Oak snags where they'd be laying there asleep. I had a lot of fun rousting those old coons out of there for pups.

The English dog on the tree was a double Platte Valley bred dog, with a shot of Turkey Ridge Racket on his top side.

He was a loud, hard tree dog, but couldn't run a coon with old Belle. He also couldn't smell some of the coon tracks she ran. But then, neither could a lot of dogs I hunted her with. It always seemed to dishearten those dogs when I would shoot coons out that they couldn't open on.

Anyway, this young dog was a deluxe me too dog.

I have no particular fondness for him, but I thought the picture of the Ozarks in the misty morning was pretty.

If you was shooting coon out to him that ole Bell treed for him you was shooting to high up the tree, it would have been better to shoot the tree hog.

I really wasn't talking about him, Voyd. I was talking about various other dogs guys I hunted with had.

The English dog in the picture had his career cut short. Real short.

I never have been able to stand a me too dog.

John, I sure don't want to get a fight started (lol) but the hammer dogs I owned gave more mouth than I like a dog to give, and were kind of hard to break. The dog in the picture was a nice hound with a good mouth. He did not tree hard, by that I mean he did not bark hard or fast. He was very accurate when he did tree. If my first experience with Hammer dogs had been as good as my first experience with Smokey River I would probably be hunting them today. I do know that there are good and bad in all strains. I like a good dog regardless of their color or bloodlines.

This was a picture I took tonight of two first cousins.

The female on the tree belongs to Brian Bebber. She is out of Dual Gr. Ch. Lathrop's Blue Abby and Doyle Uchtman's Chief dog.

She is a tremendous natural young tree dog.

The dog on the ground is Nt. Ch. Gr. Ch. Razor Ridge DUI.

Popper is about as good a looking Blue dog as I ever saw.

He has thrown some dogs that can do it in the woods too.

One of them, a Nt. Ch. is tied up at my house right now. He is a top notch son of a gun.
