He can not directly adjust prices but he and our Polticians can inact legislation that can and will influenece the specualtiors and the amount of oil on the market, thus increasing supply, thus lowering demand, which menas lower prices at the pump.

You know this is true rrs, you just refuse to admit it and keep posting lies and BS.

"Congress", Now there is a honest source for information. The band of Socialists hellbent on having us pay $10 a gallon for gasoline.

What you failed to mention about those numbers is they were compiled from the Clinton years in office.

Your statement is also misleading. The link I included is the entire story for those wishing to learn the facts instead of posting misleading, 1/2 truth statements made by the king of BS, rrs.

Corporations don't really pay taxes, their customers do.

Therefore, when the Holier than thou Democrats and the Obamessiah state that they are going to raise taxes, "windfall taxes", etc on Big oil and other corporations that REALLY means they are going to increase the cost the consumers pay. The Democrats know this as well.
And yet the ignorant masses keep clapping and applauding at the Democratsproposals to raise taxes on businesses and corporations like it is a grand idea.

ben-wipe,
talk about the truth, you may talk about it -but rarely make use of it.... you stated that the President by calling for drilling caused gas prices to decline, read your own post, now you say the president cannot influence the same, your words not mine, the truth of your untruth.....
the information about corporate tax simply is reported to congress by the General Accounting Office-an independent agency that simply does research-does not take stands about the same... interesting how you turn factual information into a political diatribe, never commented on any poltical aspect of the GAO report-just what it said, once again you make a feeble attempt to make it something it was-is not...
if the truth will set you free, you have sentenced yourself to life by your total lack of it.....

Once again you twist and contort things to suit your belief and what you WANT to make people believe about it.

What I stated is pretty easy to comprehend. GE cannot wave a wand and make prices rise or fall. But he can pass legislation and urge Congress to pass bills to increase production and drilling to help lower gas prices.

I hate to break this to you rrs, but the majority of people on this forum see right thru you and your posts and dont fall hook line and sinker for them.

Now, instead of bashing GW and posting more lies, why not explain to these fine foilks on this forum what the Democrats and Obama have tried to do to lower gas prices and decrease foreign dependency on oil.

Posted by rrs on 08-13-2008 01:50 PM:

poor ole ben-wipe,
no one ever called for tax increases-just reported, believe gw was in office from 2000-05, never made it a political statement- you tried to do that... never have advocated a tax increase on chickens or the pot cooked in, just the fact that 2/3 of our coporations and 68% of foreign ones doing business here pd. no federal income tax between the yrs. indicated, by the way never stated that they pd. no taxes, just corporate income... you
might consider taking a reading for comprehension course, your local elementary schools might offer some....

Posted by rrs on 08-13-2008 01:52 PM:

poor ben-wipe,
please try to read what is stated, never bashed gw or anyone for that matter, just reported-referenced what you posted and than changed about the president's ability to impact gas prices, don't try to change unless it is your underwear-lo....

Posted by rrs on 08-13-2008 01:58 PM:

ben-wipe,
another of your truths-oops mistruths, have never advocated for any candidate or party, you just again attempt to do that, a reminder-have been a registered republican probably longer than you have been able to try and convulate the truth, try to look at issues and not blind adherence to a party though, you might consider doing the same, possible to prepare chicken in more ways than one.....

rrs, Keep trying to pull the wool over the eyes of the folks who read this forum.
99% of them see right thru you for the liberal hack you 'truly" are.

Keep posting misquotes, 1/2 truths and twisating reports I will post the facts and rest of the story for those who wont look it up for themselves.

Would you please post a reputable source for these "facts"

I believe you have Cheney mixed up with the Democrat Icon, ted Kennedy, who was driving drunk, drove his car off a bridge, killed the lady he was with, and didnt bother to report it until the following evening.

But then again, when did the truth mean anything to someone who supports a Democrat?

More Democrat Propaganda to swoon the ignorant and gullible.

Everytime the Minimum wage is increased, the Unemploymewnt rate increases due to small businesses laying off people they cannot afford to keep on the payroll. Go look at the figures for yourself. EVERYTIM your precious Demo-socialists raise the minimum wage jobs are lost and unemployment rises. Not to mention the price of staples increase as well to offset the additional burden on business payrolls and bottom lines.

mr. ben-wipe,
cluck-cluck on, anyone that points out the fallacy of your biased clucks you try to label as something far from reality, why is anyone that states a fact that your narrow mind does not what to accept a liberal-communist-democrat, cluck on, but please try to cluck the truth on occasion... again nothing political about what the GAO reported except in your very limited mind...
look up the concept of devil's advocate and see how you may continually allow others to play that role as you cluck on-on-on....

Still looking for you to post a compete, inerrant fact rrs. Keep trying.

mr.-ben wipe,
not sure what " compete inerrent fact " as you clucked is,
fact- mr ben-wipe cannot accept anything that he does not agree with as reality and attacks the same with diatribe clucking.... again look up devil's advocate... some statements are simply objective and not subjective as you often attempt to make them, today we have the greatest deficit-debt in history in our great nation, not a political statement, simple verfied fact period, senator mcain was a brave prisoner of war for 5 1/2 yrs.-objective fact... please try to understand the differnce between objective-subjective, apply-use the same....

oh, but were to start? if you google "bush lies" you get 896,000 responses. that isn't to say that he has only told 896,000 lies. its just that those are all we know off! here is my favorite:
In the closing days of September 2002, with a congressional vote fast approaching on authorizing the use of military force in Iraq, Bush told the nation in his weekly radio address: "The Iraqi regime possesses biological and chemical weapons, is rebuilding the facilities to make more and, according to the British government, could launch a biological or chemical attack in as little as 45 minutes after the order is given. . . . This regime is seeking a nuclear bomb, and with fissile material could build one within a year." A few days later, similar findings were also included in a much-hurried National Intelligence Estimate on Iraq's weapons of mass destruction — an analysis that hadn't been done in years, as the intelligence community had deemed it unnecessary and the White House hadn't requested it.

Your Precious Democrat leaders were saying this and urging Clinton to go to war with Iraq using the same facts and rhetoric LONG before GW was ever in office. Even Bill Clinton himself said Saddam had NW's and WMD's on hand. SO i guess, by your own words that GW said this and lied that Clinton, kennedy, Gore, Kerry, and 99% of the other Dmeocrats are/were lying as well?

Truly, you are making this too easy.

so you are willing to let the democrats set the standard for truth and correctness? just because 4 democrats were wrong also means it is ok for your guy to be wrong? george w bush was the president who started this war. he told and promoted the lies to justify it. it is his war. period.

4 democrats?? Try about 90% of them. Want videos of them on the House floor wanting to go to war YEARS before GW was even running for President?? Do you want to see videos of your precious Dmeocrats saying that Saddam was funding terrorism and Al Quaeda??, Or does the truth scare you that bad Truly?? The last I checked most Democrats voted to go to war in Iraq. GW didnt do it on his own.
If it was left up to them they would leave tomorrow, accept defeat, and allow the first real chance of a democracy in a Eastern muslim country to be lost forever.
But if I recall correctly it is Obama and the Democrats calling our soldiers murderers and "occupiers".

Keep supporting the party that wants to see me and you paying more and more for Gas, poaying more and more in taxes, and wanting to see our troops murdered so they can call "gw's war" a blunder and lost cause.

Real patriotic there Truly. Lenin, Stalin, and Obama are proud of you.

I WONDER WHAT OUR TROOPS KNOW THAT WE DON'T..........................

According to an analysis of campaign contributions by the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics, Democrat Barack Obama has received nearly six times as much money from troops deployed overseas at the time of their contributions than has Republican John McCain, and the fiercely anti-war Ron Paul, though he suspended his campaign for the Republican nomination months ago, has received more than four times McCain's haul.

Despite McCain's status as a decorated veteran and a historically Republican bent among the military, members of the armed services overall -- whether stationed overseas or at home -- are also favoring Obama with their campaign contributions in 2008, by a $55,000 margin. Although 59 percent of federal contributions by military personnel has gone to Republicans this cycle, of money from the military to the presumed presidential nominees, 57 percent has gone to Obama.

did ya get that???????? obama has recieved $60,642 from troops deployed abroad, ron paul $45,512 and jon mccain $10665.
yes you got that right deployed troops gave $106,000 dollars to candidates opposed to this war, and only $10,665 to mccain!
AND IT ISN'T JUST DOLLAR TOTALS-----233[donors] CONTRIBUTED TO THE TWO CANDIDATES OPPOSED TO THIS SENSELESS WAR WHILE 26 [donors]CONTRIBUTED TO MCCAIN!!!!

If you cant stand by our troops.............................
