Took Swag to a UKC hunt last night. He treed the only coons we saw. He scored on one coon and treed two more about 5 minutes after hunt time was over. We managed a big leafy oak and a den in between. He got the CW but not enough for the overall NiteCh win. This marks his 28th cast win and 5th UKC cast win without anything to show for it! One of these days he'll get lucky I suppose...

Wouldn't you know it- my project started bleeding today right after she has made some huge leaps in the last couple of weeks. That means 3 weeks without much of a project...That's how it goes most of the time it seems. Just when you need to push a female pup they come in heat.

Great job Kenny!!! It's amazing how different Lucy and Sugar look even though they are from the same cross. That was a good cross on Bean. Sorry we couldn't make it but should be there for the next one.

Am I the Only one that ever has a Bad Nite, Ever get guided to a river with laurels so thick you cant see the stars much less a coon? or feeders with no feed for two years but insist on guiding? The judge only been in 3 hunts an has no idea how to conduct a cast but will argue over anything? And then everything i read on here makes coon hunting sound so easy, Everyone has the best dogs that never make a mistake, they even got the best pups, heak they even tree an sometimes split tree from an old dog and have a coon an old dog don't On There Very First Time Out, And Has NEVER Seen A Coon!! what happens to all them power house first nite out Naturals'?? What happens to all the NtCh power houses at 12 months old?? Hummm Makes a Man Rethink a Lot Of Things....

Very well put Mr. Tim. As far as the laurel goes, seems like I'm crawling around in it somewhere every time I go. As for an over night success coon dog, I haven't seen one in all my 32 years of coon hunting. There are a lot of dogs that can tree a coon, but a true coon dog is a rare find here in the real world! One good hound can make a whole pack look good. The majority of pups I have trained started early, but you can't really call them coon dogs until they have matured a little. That takes time. I will be the first to tell you that I have bad nights, and don't always tree coon. My dogs screw up because they are not perfect, just like the man who hunts them. Anyways, great post Mr. Tim, if these dog breeders, dog traders, competition hunters, pleasure hunters ect. would volunteer to tell the truth, they have bad nights too.

We had a good night last night. We treed 4 coons. Both of my dogs managed to get by themselves and have coons. Clyde has been looking great lately, it's just hard to hunt them all!!

My project is in heat so it's just tuning up the "old" dogs. The kids at school finally caught up with me and I managed to catch a nasty cold at the beginning of the week. Last night was the first night we've been out this week and the weekend isn't looking good thanks to the rain. They are out stirring though, that's for sure!! The leaves are falling and we got down into the low 30's last night. Fall is finally here!!!!

Change is no doubt a reproducer. It's a shame that only a couple of pups from her first litter out of Bean ever got hunted. I know that Jeffrey had a nice female and I have Clyde. Clyde is just a pleasure to hunt. He is the kind of hound you can take out and actually "pleasure" hunt!!

I imagine these pups will be equally as nice if not better! Most importantly, they have gone to folks who hunt!
