Hunt

Gary thanks for the nice words. I have been working really hard to hunt, breed, and train blue dogs I can be proud to own. I am just getting the breeding program off the ground again but I have hunted hard and like what I see in the hounds I'm hunting now.

Well I didn't get to see Cotton or Andy hunt this weekend , but those two "SMOOTH CRIMINALS" that Darren is packn with him seem like some fine young men. Maybe with those two boys handling them those dogs can get some honest wins on them.

Brian, those are some good boys. They are like me, if they win one it will be an honest win. I don't want a fake title on any of my hounds. If they win it, they will win it right.

That was Babe that won. That finished her to NiteCH . Oreo came back on a dead cast. I am excited about the dogs but more excited about the boys hunting them. I can lie, cheat, & steal and I still can't beat those boys. Things are looking up for the future.

HUNT

Drake and myself went for a little while last night. We cut Boozer, Andy, Cy, and Drake's pup loose. Andy struck in at about 300 yds and Boozer soon followed. Cy opened here and there but he has been a little tight on the ground so far. They got deep but were close to another gravel road so we drove around. When we go out of the truck, Andy and Boozer were treed. We had to cross the creek and it took longer than I wanted to get to them. The dogs did a good job of treeing with it being so HOT!! They were up a HUGE tree and we never could get him to look. We moved and cut them loose again. They went the wrong way and hit a small creek. Andy struck followed by Boozer and Cy. They followed the creek and it crossed the country paved road. I caught up Boozer and Cy but Andy was already across and 200 yds deep. We drove around and he was headed to a busy road coming up Beaver Creek. I finally headed him off and called him to me. We called it a night. Sure wasn't the best night but a bad night of COONHUNTING to me is better than sitting at home watching " Wheel of Fortune"!!!

HUNT

Drake, Griffin, and myself hunted for a little while last night. It has been a rough week at work this week but I dragged my butt out of that recliner and loaded up the dogs. We took Cotton, Andy, and Drakes pup out of Logan X Bell. He is a full mate to Cotton and is 5 mths old. We cut all 3 dogs and they left hard. Drake's pup "REBEL" soon came back. Cotton struck about 250 yds to our left and Andy soon struck 350 yds straight ahead. Cotton and Andy both were doing a good job of moving their tracks. Cotton soon loaded up and hammered a tree. We got to the tree and she was up a wild cherry tree and had the coon. We loaded her and the pup and I had lost contact with Andy. We drove around and I got him on the Garmin at 675 yds in the hills. We got within 200 yds of him and he was treed. He wasn't hammering too hard but had been treed for a while. We got to the tree and he was HOT!! There was a group of about 4 or 5 wild cherry trees growing together and he was treed up one. I think he missed him and we didn't see a coon. They definitely had been feeding on the wild cherries but wasn't at home. It happens to the best of them sometimes. We are going to hit it tonight. I am off work tomorrow and we are thinking about pulling an all-nighter!! Y'all Keep'em Lookin' Up!!

Hunt

Drake, Griffin , and myself went for hunt last night. We got a late start and cut Cotton and Cy loose at about 9:30. Cotton struck a bad track and ended up deep and treed. We drove around and she was up a huge tree and had the coon. Next drop we cut Andy and a pup. The pup went hunting with him but ended up coming back. Andy got nearly a mile and struck a track. We got to him and he was treed. He had two coons up that tree. We moved and cut Cotton, Andy , and Cy loose in a field leading into some hardwoods. Cotton struck followed by Andy and Cy. They ran a good track up a ditch and Cotton loaded up. She had that coon and the other two treed with her. Last drop we cut up a creek bottom and Andy struck then Cotton. They worked a track good but got close to a house so we caught them up and called it a night. Rolled in at 3:30 this morning but had a good hunt. Y'all keep'em Lookin up. Darren

Hunting

Sounds to me like you need to keep giving Drake and Cotton a ride to town before Drake figures out the girl thing and Cotton comes in heat! LOL.
Seems like everyone around the country will get those trees in areas where they beat the coon to the tree.....around here we get the grapevines, down in Iowa last week they had the mulberry's, and you got the wild cherry's. I have pulled a dog off of a persimon tree or two also down south where it was slick. Just the way it goes. Last week down in Iowa Creek backed a dog on two mulberrys and that did not help her score. I still finished with plus points but not enough to win the cast. On saturday night the first tree was a big mulberry and it had a coon in it. Then later on a dog slicked on a mulberry and she would not back her. It was the difference in the hunt. I guess if you can get one that does not get suckerd into those trees you can do some winning.

Hunt

Drake And myself went to Empire last night. Drake hunted Andy and he got really deep and treed alone but missed the coon in a bunch of blackberries and wild plums. Cotton treed the only coon we saw and two gyps backed her. I made a rookie mistake at the end of the hunt that cost her the NtCh win. Guess I can't be too mad at her next time she makes a mistake. We will try again.

HUNT

Drake and myself went last night for a couple drops. First drop we cut Cotton and Boozer up a small creek bottom. They left hard and after about 400 yds they split up. Boozer went right and Cotton went left. Boozer soon ended up in a 12 yr old planted pine thicket and struck a track. He worked up into the thicket and located and treed. We made our way to him through a mess of briars and blackberries. We finally got to him and he was treed on a pine tree. We looked for several minutes and I finally backed off and seen a tail hanging down. After further shining with a spot light, we seen 2 coons up the tree but they would never look. We collected Boozer off that tree and I checked the Garmin to find that Cotton was 975 yds the other direction. We drove around and found her treed in another cutover / pine thicket. We waded some more blackberries to get to her tree and she had a coon up a pine tree as well. We cut Andy and Cy loose on the next drop. They left hard and soon were deep. They hit the creek and covered the entire section, but never got struck. They came out on a gravel road where a small creek crosses and we just caught them up. We called it a night and fed these ole potlickers . Coons around here are hitting the blackberries. Rough hunting for the next few weeks!! I look like I been in a fight with a wildcat after the past few nights!! Y'all Keep'em Lookin' Up!!
