We'll do. I've got several I need to call. I was laid up for a while before school and just really didn't feel like doing anything the way I was hurting. Then once that got straight, school and wed. night kids program at church started back. So it's been a bit crazy here lately.

Good news

Looks like we are going to get some rain. How about Friday night if it's not still raining we turn loose for a little while? Bad news about over at my house though they would rather me wait till deer season is nearly over to run dogs guess they think it will stir them up. Oh well I'll just feed them and keep them in one spot till then. Let me know what you think I'll be off all weekend

Not sure which you are wanting. Are you talking about something from Rex Melton, Rex Griffith or a dog named Rex. I guess what semen are you wanting from what hound? If it's has to do with Fireball chances are I can help ya, just not sure what you are wanting. I know where most all this stuff is from most every Fireball bred hound that is stored. If I don't know where it is then I know who to call. Some i could just tell ya and others I'd have to call to see if it was alright to give you their number. One thing I can tell you is that unfortunately there is no semen from Fireball, Littleman or Famous Amos who were about the top hounds of that time period. What I can tell you is what I have produced here is higher on Fireball blood and higher on is two highest reproducing sons than anything else alive.

Well

Took my little gyp out tonight with my cousins dog which is a REAL close hunter. Turned loose and walked them close to a deer feeder that has been over run with coons, his dog hit a track and lost it then came treed on same tree feeder was on. My dog came in with her nose on the ground smelled tree and kept moving the track. Well I thought maybe she would circle back to him but boy was I wrong. She worked the track and checked a few more trees around there and then hit a trail again. I kept an eye on her and the next thing I knew she was GONE. Never barked but never hung up on any slick trees. I let her go for a while and started calling her in which didn't work. After about another 10 min or so I decided to ease back to the truck and see if she would come and as I was walking I called her one more time and she showed up. She kept wanting to go back to the woods and hunt. Was sure wishing I had called and seen if I could have borrowed your tracking system was worried I had lost another one.

Kaylee said she was going to look into buying one for me at Christmas so if I start taking her more between now and then I may ask about borrowing it.... Of course i would replace batteries if needed.

Sure wish you felt up to it tonight would have loved for her to have gotten some fur in her mouth with some dogs that will have the meat.

ever try Dozer on squirrel when he was young? We are going to take him squirrel hunting with us. Chief is very good on squirrels and figure to take Dozer along. Didnt figure it could hurt.

Haven't ever tried him on those but the one I started with that all these go back to that's what they were. Daisy I know would be awesome on them the way she winds and looks up the trees but I'm scared of getting one like one I use to have. Once I got him on squrriels he liked eating them better than just treeing coons. He treed 20 flying squrriels in about 2 hours in one night without a single coon. That's when I decided to break him off the squrriels. I about broke him from treeing period before I got him to quit treeing squrriels.

Sounds good to me and maybe you don't have those flying squrriels?

Well things have still sure been stupid busy. I don't even hardly have the time to get on here right now.

I've got several folks I really need and want to call but when I don't get in until after 9 and then eat well.....
I sure wish I could have gone with ya. The pain is just steadily getting worse seems like which then locks up my muscles from the nerves being pinched off. The next step is Morphine the way I was hurting thurs. night that's about the only thing that would have cut the pain. I go in next week to do all the prep work for getting me in to the nuerosurgeons if I don't go in to the emergency room before then.
If you need the collar, my pistol, rifle, or anything else just come on by. I know you'll take care of it. I'd offer you a hound but you know how hard they are to keep up with.
There's plenty of tree in most all breeds now. As you see some have to much. Like ol Popeye.

I like em to get treed and like doing it but I still want to see something when I get there ya know.

Down here as you know it takes that combination of wanting to tree but liking to go enough to go until you find a coon you can run and put him up. Apparently, there is a pretty concerted opinion that the Redbone breed lacks drive to hunt. As you know those are very few and far between for the ones I've had from down here and most all those few are due to something happening or not happening that caused that. I thought most all redbones hunted like these. Apparently I was wrong.

All I can say is I sure like the ones I've been so fortune to have and that all the stud owners of those same type hounds have been nice enough to help me out thru the years to keep the same type hounds going. 6,7, etc... month olds from all different litters going a mile plus in these thin coon thier first or second time to the woods not unusual for around here. Sure haven't seen a lack of hunting drive in these that's for sure or a lack of ability to tree coons when the others don't or only tree a few.

Chad I've had some nice litters and the ones from Cryo Joe and Kitty seem to be coming on nice too. However, I've seen more earlier from this litter of Daisy and Barnyard Horse Harry than about any litter I've ever had. I'm sure looking forward to things to come this fall from these pups.

I had almost forgotten about that ole dog. Ole Popeyes was one ugly sucker but sure was easy to hunt even though you didn't see many eyes. At least he kept some of us out of trouble.

Turned the little girl out to run some energy off this evening and she never picked her nose up off the ground. Looks like she just needs woods and some hot coons.

Will have to see how your feeling this coming weekend if weather stays nice or if your not feeling up to it will check with my cousin and try her with his dog again depending on how things are with deer season opening.

Well after sitting around for a day and a half doing nothing I finally got to go

Well tonight was just to good to pass up no matter what shape I was in recently rained, cool air blew in, so.....
Here's the first tree Daisy hit. She was a little to eager. First one she has missed in a while. They were smelling the scent but I think it was Kittens that had been in there earlier.

Then they went on in the woods and got it right 3 up one tree. Daisy even skipped a lay up she found on the way toward the other right tree to make sure she got it right. I seen the coon but she looked back at me while she was on the tree and was like well I'm not taking the chance of being wrong. Rolled on in there struck and her and Kitty put these up. We gave them one and worked with my buddy's pup. Daisy was following the scent of the coon in the tree, I mean right under it. She even got hit by the coon as it fell out. Think I'm going to have to tie her back for her own safety. She sure won't like that she loves to fight those coons.

Thanks for the help Dusty. Couldn't have safely gone without ya. I'm sure I'll be paying for this for several days.

I had a blast to bad I had to work today or we could have turned loose again. Sure is good to be back in the woods after being out of it for as long as I have and the weather sure made it nice and having 3 in one tree made it even better

I'm not saying they never make a mistake but one things for sure if they do make one they are going to do it right the next time and make up for it to boot. They sure aim to please. My neck is popping in and out of place but I'm not hurting to bad. Think we need to try it again this weekend. Maybe these new meds will have me where I can continue to go some. Let's try going for an hour or so next time. Got the MRI this weekend so unless they tell me something else I plan on going.

Sounds fine to me.

Since I don't have to work we can make more than one tree too. Just take it easy wed and Thursday so you can move. Plus with me being off all day I can have everything rounded up so I'll be ready to go at dark but may still want to wait till 9 or so and give them time to move around some.

Hey sounds good!

Let's plan on Fri. night. Got VA appointments for my neck on Sat. Hopefully, they get in there and can see what I've got going. They may make me stay at the house after they see it. So Fri. may be the last day for me for a while if I have orders not to get out. They couldn't figure out how I was feeling my legs so well and walking as good as I was before my last surgery and it didn't hurt near as bad as now. Sure hope they don't tell me to sit around. Anyway at least now I should know what it looks like, on my neck.
Can't wait to hit the woods on a regular basis again. It's so great to just even be able to go a few times every now and then right now. Man if I can get fixed up, the pills are going to be gone, the energy will be back and the woods are going to be on fire. I can't wait.

What did the doctors say? Hope they haven't restricted you so much that you can't hunt some. I know that if I'm sore from all the walking we done you have to be especially the fall you had by the creek good thing it wasn't where my pup decided to take a leap of faith. Got a box built for my four wheeler nothing like yours but it will haul two dogs.

Well the doctors see it tommorrow. The person running the machine said they didn't see anything to crazy. Yeah I was hurting pretty good but didn't lock up. I can handle the pain but when it makes me lock up so I can't move, ya can't hunt like that. Sure didn't need to drop off the side of those banks. Not to many places that have banks that steep and that are 20 ft deep to boot.

Makes for some fun times trying to get thru the creeks. Hey that box sounds good. Man is it nice hunting off those 4-wheelers.

Well had another good round.

Dogs didn't look quiet as good as last time but the coons didn't seem to be moving to well. We seen some up but Daisy is still a little gun shy on lay-ups after getting in trouble for that slick tree last weekend. Everything else was moving, deer all over, possums, armadillos, etc... Daisy even bayed a skunk she didn't grab it and didn't get close enough to get sprayed. To my knowledge this was the first one she had seen. So she knows not to bother those now I think. Got off that and her and Kitty got treed on down the creek. This is an area that was a beach in ancient times, fossils all over the place but the creek banks are super steep and the trees are very big. We looked and looked but this one ran into several others just couldn't find it and no telling how many were den trees.

We tried running some others but didn't have any luck other than Kitty giving up and treeing a possum, first one in a long time. Corrected her for that one also. Daisy tried going back to the tree her and Kitty were on but I cut them off. Daisy then decided to dissappear to find another one no matter what. When we loaded up the rest of the hounds we still couldn't find Daisy. Finally got a faint hit on the beep beep. Then I could hear her, pretty sure she was treeing becuase of the mouth she was giving. She was about a mile and a half away straight across a huge hill with the wind wipping back and forth some and I couldn't tell for sure where she was. No telling how many miles she covered to get there. We then went back to the house got the truck and drove back around on the other side of a highway. We finally got to her about two hours later and called her in and didn't even try to find the tree I was about to die from the pain of trying to run her down. Me and my hunting buddy Dusty was laughing on the way back to the truck about Redbones not having enough drive to hunt. The shape I'm in I need something that has less drive if anything. My dogs will sure out hunt me.

Doesnt do that creek justice. That thing is DEEP and if my little pup could talk she would tell you just how far it is to the bottom from the trip she had.

I'm getting in all my over time this week covering a day for a guy then a few hours working some railroad crossing stuff Tuesday of next week so hopefully I will have the whole weekend of the 28th off. Hopefully the doctor doesn't say you can't go. Think with me being off every other weekend is pretty good gives us time to recoup but sure makes me wish we could go like the old days

Well rememeber that's where that wash was at that I stepped off in. I was down in the creek some and that wash had caused it to flatten out. For sure it was a good spot and not a good representation of it. There was plenty of drop behind the tree too. I'm just glad we didn't get in them briars so thick you literally have to walk on top of them instead of thru them. That plus the heat of summer is all part of hunting down here though, as you know. Think I might need to move to Ohio to finish out my years but apparently my hounds might hunt to far. I don't know, some hounds run past coons but mine just go until they hit a track wether that be right where they are or just like Daisy and Kitty where a mile plus straight to them is normal if they aren't moving. O well guess I'll just stay down here. Sure is cool no matter the shape I'm in to hunt the same land that my family has since the late 1800's to early 1900's with hounds.
