Working on gwtting well

Not a lot of hunting has got done around here for the past 3 weeks. We have been sick and Timmy has been working a ton of hours.
Getting the hunting part back on track this week.
Got a new litter of pups out of Smoke and Drizz on the ground. Half of them are sold and got a couple of lookers comming. These are some dandys.
The weather is a roller coster but I think we can make a few nights work this week. The young dogs are eager to go and Smoke is more then ready to teach them a thing or two.
Robin is comming in heat again so she will be laid up for a while.

Hunt

Took Leggs out for a hunt last night. She opened at about 225yrds moved the track out to 3/4 of a mile and treed with the meat. It was a yearling coon and he was wanting to come down so Timmy squalled him down and the fight was on. Caught Leggs before she could do much damage and let the coon go. Worked out great. She got to watch him come down the tree, got fur in her mouth and we have a coon that we can run again.

We have sold all of Drizz's pups and they are just 5wks old.
Getting ready to breed GrNtCh Robin in the next 2 or 3 days and when Robin's mother comes back in she will be bred back to Smoke again. Lou should be in heat before long. The Wendy pups were all sold before they were born and we will breed her back late summer.

John, We are kicking around on Gauge 5hr drive from us right now.

just have two to three days to make up our mind. I got a call into Tim Vaughn to help me out haha. The thing about breeding to Smoke is that we know they will be tremendous tree dogs and have a lot of run on track. So far Smokes pups are showin a lot of speed to get treed and we like that.

You've got a lot of good choices to chose from that's for sure. I'd think Astro would be one to consider also, but if it was me, I'd definitely pick Tim's brain. Good luck with whichever one you chose.

Thanks guys. I just hope every one reads the write ups on all the nominees and votes for the most deserving in their opinion.
Dual Grand Rooster and Grand Nite Billy both have made their mark andthe blood is still winning. Besides the competion hunts they both have offspring that are a pleasure to hunt.
The Mad Dog line has six different National Kings and Queens in the hunt and show both.

Competeing at that level for that many years really says something for the bloodline. Having the 2012 National king and queen of water is a testiment to the drive in these hounds. JMO. Roy thanks for bringing up the history. There is quite a track record and 2012 will always be a special year to us.

Wow I can't believe I forgot tje king and queen of the water race. Sorry Lance. That makes 8 National titles over that same period.

I left Grealds Shelly dog off the Billie write up. I feel bad about that. So many winners it's hard to think of them all. That is a great and rewarding problem to have.

Hunt

Wind was bad last night. Moon was bright. Think you can see the direction our hunt went last night. The first two things that I mentioned were the good part of the hunt!haha
O well nights like last night make the good ones good. Life and times of hunting young dogs by themselves.
Timmy and I both have decided to breed Robin to Smoke. Circumstances at the moment dictate alot of this. But we do believe this will be an awsome cross. We just believe in what we have at home. So much of the good qualitys that are being put together out way the bad.
She should breed thursday or friday.
This cross will be head up track burning lock down tree dogs. They will change the rules when it comes to compition hunts.haha

We are excited about them. Most are turning on at a young age.
Got a call from a guy that has two 4mo old pups that are running and treeing everything in sight. He said they will be gone when he gets home from work and almost every night they get treed some where.
We have bred some really nice females that are coondogs and Smoke is putting a lot of track and tree in his pups.

The Smoke and Robin cross is being made now and these pups will be what we push along with the Smoke and Wendy pups.

Have two Smoke and Wendy males that just turned 5mo old and they are doing super great. Big, Big mouths and tree the barn cats non stop. Watch for Mike and Ike.
