John we are only keeping three hounds right now so it is not too bad. I have used the seresto collars the last three years and have never seen a flea or tick on one hound, I beleive in them but heard giving them pill also is a darn near a fool proof method. It takes a toll on a hound and some never come back to themself after getting it.

Well it looks as if Misfire is coming in heat. Plans are to take her up North to Deans to have her breed to Tuna Valley Bubba. We are looking forward to this litter as we are wanting a female to hunt off of this cross. Going to performance them and Super Stake them as we feel it should make some coon treeing machines.

Took Misfire to Deans to get her breed to Bubba semen. While up there drove about another 25 miles and had a guided hunt by a guy I work with at times. All I took was Riptide and we patch hunted off of 4 wheelers. Made 8 dumps and seen coons on 5 trees, 2 big old dens and one should have been but wasnt. Nice hunting in that area, flat as a pancake except a few ditches. The Ol boy looked pretty darn good for no more hunting than he is getting, never looses his accuracy!

Misfire

I’ve hunted 2 female off misfire and two different studs. Both of them started different but they are about 1 year apart. And they are both independent hard track dogs that not scared of the woods. Now I have just acquired another one that’s 7/8 months old. I like what I see out of misfire. Hope you have luck and enjoy. Should be a great cross.

Thanks for the feedback Darren. We have high hopes on this cross. Hunted females for about 20 years and sure going to try one out of this cross if she coroperates!

Just got back from taking another hunt up north. Wasnt hunting very far from Portland. We had a pretty good hunt, patch hunting that was FLAT and had real nice timber. We made 5 trees, double, two singles and two dens. Stopped in this morning and picked up Misfire at Deans, she finally coroprated and Dean got her breed.

End of May, plans are to put them in good hands! Keith S. is getting one, I'm planning on keeping a female or two and a guy down south is in line for one. Not in any rush, just hope she has a few, should be a hell of a cross we think, and few others feel the same!

Not much on the big game dogs Charlie, I perfer ones that know what they are suppose to be after, if they can not figure that out they dont make the cut! LOL!

Cross Made: Tuna Valley Blue Bubba / Pririe Creek Blue Misfire

Misfire ahs been breed to Tuna Valley Blue Bubba semen and the pups are due right at May 30th. Pups will be UKC performances and PKC Super Staked. We do have a few already spoken for but will take names in order for a few of them pending outcome, sure feel it is going to happen. Below I have copied what the pups pedigree will look like. Misfire is a Grand Nite and a PKC Champion and is a proven winner and seems to be producing the right kind. Bubba speaks for himself. If interested either call or PM me and will answer any question you may have.

Well we finally got out to do a little scouting and set up a few feeders for the pups this summer. Not much in the hills for them too eat right now so the sour corn should have them sturing pretty darn quick. We do this every spring until we start seeing the young ones out stirring, once they start hitting them they will go through at least a drum a week. Getting soft in my old age, it does help getting the pups to kick over!

Took Riptide and Rock last night and overall not too bad for the moon being up. Have not had Rock out in a while and you could sure tell it, a little wild but he has got a horn on him!! First dump they took off like a rocket and hit at about 200 yards and ran for a bit and nailed it, had it in a wild cherry tree, Riptide looked Good and Rock half ass! Second dump we went to a clear cut and hit about 750 yards and stumbled through the clear cut and treed along the edge in a hugh Den tree, there are coons there!

Hunted a young one out of Riptide last night and made three trees and seen coons on two trees and one den. This young hound is the litter mate to one we lost this last winter on the road. Had one real nice chase on the last one and ended up in a big valley out in the hills, did a real nice job on him.

Took Riptide and the young one tonight and we made three trees and ran one hard for about 650 yards and treed in a creek bank. We seen two coons and a den. The young one had one, Riptide had one and they treed a den together. They did run the hair off the one we treed in the creek bank.

Took the young one last night for a couple drops. First drop he hit about 450 yards and made short work of it and had it. Next drop did not think we would ever hit but did finally hit one and had a big den, did not go anywhere so we figured it was an old sow, it is being used hard. Called it a nite as mid nite is as late as I want to be out when I have to get up at 3:00am! Plays hell on my knees and other issues!!

Made three drops last night and the dogs covered 2.8 miles hunting distance before we hit a track. We took a young one and our pup Rock last night and they treed one but it was a very short track and had it, last dump we just dropped Rock and he hit a hot one in our honey hole and Rock treed and had it. Coons did not seem to be moving real good early but seen several going to work this morning. First time for everything they say! LOL! Lots of work ahead of us but there is hope, Rock will be a year old in July.
