Sheba 11

Posted by Misty river on 08-19-2016 07:13 AM:

Sheba 11

Took Sheba 11 out for a run tonight. Turned her off an ole woods road into a Cypress bottom. She went in a little over 500 yrds and struck a bad track. She moved it on in another 250 yrds and treed. I went around on the 4-wheeler and got within about 150 yrds of her and walked on in to her. She was treed on a medium sized hardwood. There was not a limb on it for about 35 feet and then it bushed out and couldn't see anything from there on up and no vines. We moved on down the swamp aways and she went in about 200 yrds and struck a fair track, moved it on in another 100 yrds and treed. I walked in to her and she was treed up a large oak. She was treed right next to an ole slough and I couldn't see anything from the side I was on so I crossed the slough and couldn't see but just a little of the tree from that side. I'll sure be glad when all these leaves are gone. The coons are back to not moving good around here. I think they are moving before dark and about daylight. I know if you go hunting around here right now from 8 to midnight you are not going to hit hardly anything, but ole cold tracks. We called it a nite. It sure was hot out there tonight.

BAD HUNTING

You are so right Mr. Jack about coon not moving this week. I been every night this week and same ole story, sorry tracks and hounds have to get deep just to find that. I haven't hunted in the mornings but will give it a try tomorrow. Moon been bright and it's been very hot and muggy. Cool weather can't get here quick enough. I will give you a shout when I get one of these hounds looking better so maybe they won't embarrass me. Right now they all look pretty sorry, Take Care.

Mr. Jack,

I love the picture of Sheba II on the tree. I hope your having as much fun hunting her as I do her half sister.
The Shadow and Hammerhead pups are all weaned now and as fat and healthy as I can get them. Not a shy pup in the bunch. I like them all!! Now it will be up to the owners to teach them some manners and point them towards the woods. Take care and thank you very much for all of your help.

Scott

Shadow and Sheba 11

Chris and Jeremy took Shadow and Sheba 11 up to the delta National forest last night. They said they had a real good hunt and looked at several coon eyes. I have been down a week with eye surgery, looks like I will be down for at least a couple more weeks.

Hope you get well soon. I will keep you posted on my hunts with Tramp so I least you can get a little "taste of the hunt" while you are getting better.

Take Care,

Healing up

Thank you Chris, Good to hear from you. Been hearing a lot about you and Jazz.

Mack, good to hear from you. Hope to see you at the Fall Roundup.

Steve, since ole Tramp is not around, When I get healed up a little we will have to see if Bo's half sister can keep up with him.

Scott, I'm going to hold you to that 'little taste of the hunt' I sure do enjoy reading about all you guy's hunts, and with Tramp in there it would be extra special.

Mr. Ed sure looking forward to seeing you a little later this year. I been thinking about it since last year.

Smoke and Sheba 11

The doctor finally told me that I could go hunting. He probably wouldn't have if he had known all the elements that were involved that could harm your eyes out there at night coonhunting. Things like bright lights, limbs and sticks
and flying bugs and several other things that could be harmful to good eyes, and a lot more so to ones that had recent surgery. I wore protection glasses and they worked fine until a bug would find his way in there from the side , but everything went good last night. We were hunting around a big soybean field. We struck and treed 3 times and looked at 3 coons. One of the trees had two coons in it and we couldn't get one of the coons to look in one tree. The dogs did a good job and we had to do very little walking. The dogs would go in pretty deep to strike and every time they would come back to within 30 yards of the field and tree. 2 of the trees we shined from the field.

Steve the Dr. told me I could go coon hunting, but I don't think he had ever been coonhunting and I didn't tell him what all that was envolved with the sport. I did tell him I would wear safety glasses.

Shadow And Sheba 11

Jeremy came by with Shadow last night and we loaded up Sheba 11 and went up to the Delta National Forest. We got up there kind a late and none of the places that were suppose to have the papers to ride 4-wheelers did not have any paper work in them, so we had to go on over to a place where you didn't have to have paperwork to ride them. We got with one of Jeremy's boss men and two young boys and I never will remember their names, But we sure enjoyed having them along with us. none of them had ever coonhunted before, but they said that they really enjoyed the hunt and would like to go again. They were up there to go squirrell hunting this morning. The first day of youth season. We alternated hunting Shadow and Sheba. Sheba treed her one and Shadow made it look easy on a couple, but it was hot the first part of the night and the coons were not moving, I think they moved late as we seen a couple beside the road on out way out. I really enjoyed it, nd we will get back up there soon. Next time we will go early and a little more prepared.
