Drove over to South Carolina to deliver a pup to Tim Rountree. I hope she makes him a coon dog. Got another one headed to Missouri. So much depends on who gets their hands on them and I sure am glad to put them in the hands of real coon hunters. Rejet won a Nt Ch hunt last weekend in Newborn, Ga. and won another one this past Friday night out of Milledgeville, Ga. We took Lucy out for the 1st time since she had pups and she sure made it look easy-got the tree on the 1st coon and the next one she treed all by her lonesome. Most all of us are into our hunting seasons now and I hope you are enjoying your hounds. If you will wear out your hip boots this season you will know what you have on your leash by the time you get those new boots. The "take it easy time" is over and I feel very fortunate. Looking forward to the rest of 2014 and to 2015. Best day of my life so far!

Lost a Nt Ch cast last night by 25 points. The minus came from the 1st stike my dog carried out of hearing. I struck him back in for 1st again when we got in hearing and treed him on his locate. With 30 minutes left -thought there was still enough time to win this thing. He struck 1st and set sail on another, The Garmin said he was treed and I strained to hear him over the rain and wind as time ran out- the card was completed, signed and with a handshake the cast was sent on their way back to the club. One hour and 30 minutes later I got Rejet out from under that coon. The walk back to where I parked only took 50 minutes. That area I call the "Forbidden Zone"-not fit for humans. The moon lit walk back with the dog was done without the aid of the hunting light. People talk on here about having one that will get deep and alone-ha! In this way and on these nights Rejet reminds me so much of his sire--6 Again. Lot of calls about pups, grown dogs and breeding-all are appreciated. Working on arranging Blue hunts locally and travel plans if the weather will allow. I checked the calendar and Christmas is on the 25th again this year- Bluetick pups make a good present?

Last night is a night we will remember. Bobby and Ben Carter, Bubba Snider along with Annie, I Love Lucy, Rejet and Rejet's, Jr. went on a Coon Hunt. At one point during the night all four dogs were split treed. Bobby said that was the most he had ever walked in one night going from dog to dog and back. It felt like Michigan to me. We looked at five Coon and the highlight was the Jr dog (Rejet x May Flower) split with the meat while dogs were trailing and treeing all around him. Met up with Corky, the dog hauler. He carried a
male pup from Jet II x I Love Lucy to his new home in Missouri and Sam carrying a female to Indiana. Received some good phone calls of late from Tracy Baker, Dale Parker, Todd Wall, Mark Gibson, Rance Winn, Johnny News, Katie Millwood, Brad Henson, Tim Roundtree, Paul Kieffer, David Watkins and Ashley Lee. Damon and Jerry Shewmaker keep me posted on their hunts and dogs in the great state of Missouri-hope to get out there for a hunt with them. The spelling may not be correct on the hunter's names and I will think of more who have called once I post this I,m sure. Right now just might prove to be your "GOOD OLD DAYS!" Hope you are enjoying them-I am, Best day of my life so far.

I know all about that forbidden zone with no light and soaking wet. LOL!!!!! I was wearing a belt light and the dang thing caught on fire while attached to my side. And the worst thing about that was that I was on my way in the forbidden zone and not out lol!

Michigan

Got a call Friday evening from Scott Phillips. His news put me in a hurry up mode and Saturday afternoon I was at Ed's. A female had arrived there in heat, how far along she is--is not known. She is now down here to be bred to Rejet. I was also able to return Maddy and pups to Scott. Terry Tucker, Scott, Ed and I had a good long talk in Ed,s basement Saturday night. Round trip was 1,660 miles. Left Sunday morning at 7 am and got here Sunday night at 8:30 pm. Henry Miller called during my return trip to tell me how much he likes his Buzzard x Snooks pup and his female from Rejet x Hope - she has a 1st, so hopefully she will be a Nt Ch soon. Saw a couple of good looking young pups at Scott's from Lance's Partner x Scott's Hooker female and I loved the young male out of Rejet x Hooker - going to find out how much I like him in the woods. Will share this with the Bluetick World too -Ed is fired up about his Jet 10 dog and he is flat being hunted. Jet 10 is out of Jet 9 x Joleen. She is from the cross of Boomer x Ruby. Joleen is now here to be bred to Rejet.

Glad your trip went safely. And I hope everything goes alright with joleen. The rejetxhooker female I have here from Scott sure looked good the other night. For her limited time being hunted alone. She was 450 yrds when she opened and 550 when she locked down. The coon was there and she was rewarded. Thank you again for the effort you are putting forward in getting this done with joleen. Paul

Dual Grand Ch. Mead's Bl Rejet

A couple of calls from Paul Kieffer in Mn. checking on the progress of the romance between Rejet and Joleen. Paul also has Zoey (Rejet x Scott Phillip's Hooker) up there treeing coon by herself. If anyone knows the man who bought the Cash pup from this cross I would sure like to stay in touch with him. Sunday I met up with Johnathan and Katie Millwood at Madison, Ga. to see if they liked the looks and actions of a little male pup from Jet II and I Love Lucy. They did and he went home with the Millwoods. Sure hope I have put something in their hands they can work with. There are 3 male dogs here out of Rejet from 1 to almost 2 years old that tree coons by themselves and will not hurt your eyes when you look at them in daylight. Rejet has stayed healthy of late. During this time he has been bred to some very nice females and finished out in the hunts. The oldest pups are two years old and I wish good luck to all of you who have one. Plans are to be in Orangeburg for the 2015 Grand American. Hope to see many of you there.

Sounds like some promising crosses out there. Always glad to see the fire is still burning. Hope 10 turns out to be the best reproducer Ed has had. That would be saying something!

When Bobby Carter and I talked by phone about hunting last night we both discussed the possibility of rain. Both of us checked the local forecast and both of us said, according to the reports, the rain was not going to get to our area until around 11 pm. Plenty of time for a good hunt with an early start. Both of us got soaked when the rain started around 9 pm. Was not the 1st time nor will it be the last. Years ago our Weather Man would stand outside the studio and ask people as they arrived at work "You think it is going to rain today?" If 4 people said "Yes!" He would tell his viewing audience "There is a 40% chance of rain today!" We did enjoy the hunt and use our Wildlife Management Areas to knock coons out to the dogs. As I have stated before, in the old days if I said I treed 4 last night-everyone said "Let,s see them!" If this weather does not cooperate I might not get any more opportunities this year. It has been a good year. Hope it has been for you as well!

Grand American

Had a great time over at Orangeburg again this year. So good to see and talk with Blue dog people, some you see just once a year. Sold BBCHA memberships and shared a table with Dale Parker and Rodney Holland who were selling BBOA memberships. Made three years in a row that I have tried to help. Dale spent most of last year at the membership table with me and recognizes the need. 2014 was great and I expect 2015 to be even better. While in SC I made sure all my gear is squared away and I will do my dead level best to wear it out in the woods this year. It is raining to beat the band here-that is how you know deer season has ended-swamps are flooded and will be even worse. Ed called from the woods the other night (12 degrees) and said he is making breeding plans. This was good news. Rejet and Jet II are paid up for 2015. Wishing you the very best for 2015. Make it what you want it to be.

Great Weekend

Friday night Bobby and Ben Carter and I took a trip to one of our State Wildlife Management Areas-(WMA). Treed a couple of Coons and enjoyed the dog work of the older dogs as well as the young ones. Saturday morning I met up with Dale Parker, his Step Son Davy, Davy's Dad Dave and Davy and Dale's friend Kyle. Dave was down for a visit from the State of Washington and this group wanted to try their hand at killing wild Hogs. We covered a good bit of my hunting ground and their trigger fingers got a work out. I had forewarned them about the mud and water. I took some pictures of them with their Cell Phones so hopefully Dale will find away to share them with us on here. Saturday morning it was hogs and Saturday night I'm after coons again with just a young dog. While I was searching a big Oak tree and happy to see a big set of eyes at the very top I thanked the Good Lord for allowing me to have a day like that. Our plans for next weekend are to hunt rabbits and hopefully a few Quail. Best day of my life so far.

Thanks Scott,I couldn't figure out how to post the video. This little female is a firecracker! I wish we weren't froze in up here and I could be hunting her right now. For those interested she's out of Rejet and Hooker.Ten months old in the video. Kicks rocks when she leaves seems to get struck quick, beautiful locate and nice tree dog. Since I've owned her she's only been to the woods with another dog one time. She's been treeing coon solo since. My first one out of rejet but hoping for a pup or two out of joleen and him in the coming months. Shes the 3 rd one I've personally spent time with out of hooker. All 3 have made nice hounds!,

Lots of activity down this way. So sorry to report that the Boomer's Lady featured in pictures on this post fell from a tree and died. Feel so bad for everyone connected to her. We had 11 people on our rabbit hunt last Saturday and got to listen to some good hound work on some long runs-had a couple of Bluetick colored Beagles in there. Have you noticed that the best Walker hounds have a tick or two on them? Talked with many people from all over our Coon Hunting world. The Joleen female picked up another Nt Ch win Saturday night and is one win away from being a Grand Night Champion. A couple of mine are leaving here to do a little romancing in different states. History will decide if this was the right thing to do. It feels right now or I would not be doing it. If I do not know the answer to your questions, I will try to find someone who does. 2015 is off to a flying start-try to make the most of it!

Recently made a round trip overnight expedition to Kentucky. Brad Henson gave me a tour of his Coon hunting territory, his Church, his place and his dogs. The Land Between The Lakes is really something to see. We enjoyed lunch at a local restaurant with a good portion of our time spent on talking Blue Dogs. Late that afternoon I met up with Cory Carlson. Our visit was short. He had to get back to Mn. and I set out on the return to Ga. I got home at 2am Eastern time. Below Atlanta I pulled over into a closed Store cut the engine off and rested a little. When I woke up I had both hands on the steering wheel and both feet hard on the brake pedal. I was looking at the trees in front of me and thought I had fallen asleep driving. That was enough to keep me awake until I got home. Good luck to our Bluetickers at the Winter Classic. I Love Lucy did pick up her last Ch. win on the bench, so she is now Gr Ch Gr Nt Ch Snyder's I Love Lucy. In a little more than a year and with the help of Bobby Carter, 3 of these Jet bred Blue dogs finished to Dual Grand-May Flower, Rejet and Lucy. No record but nothing to be ashamed of either.

A BLUE Winter Classic! Congratulations to all the Bluetick winners at this years' event. When I heard the number of Blue dogs entered was close to the number of TWs', my prediction was that we would do quite well-we did! Hats off to Brad Henson and Keith Tate with Nt Ch Outcross Diamond W Delta Dash (6 Again x Gr Nt Ch Pounding Blue Birdy) double cast winner, 1st pl Nt Ch Sat. night, Hi-scoring Bluetick female BBOA and BBCHA. Also to Cole and Double Shot Of 6 Again (Gr Ch Gr Nt Ch Rejet x Mead's Bl Hope) cast win Fri night. Delta and Hope are littermates. The overall winner was Blue, as were several other places in Nt Ch and registered. Just shows you what our Blues can do when we show up.
