I feel we are going to have some coons in the hills this year. We have been feeding them and in 6 days they ate right at 75 gallons of sour corn. We ran out or we would have had a few other spots to fill up another 25 gallons. Putting the Ranger to work and getting back off the roads in many places as we can. Had cameras out and there are a bunch of old sows so that means one thing, kittens latter on! We feed the coons every year once season closes until the kittens are getting down real good. Pretty expensive but I feel like it is worth it.

Took Riptide out for a couple Drops tonight to let him stretch his legs. First Drop we let Riptide and Doc both out and they went about 350 yards and slammed one in a little wild cherry tree. Next drop we let Riptide and Doc hit it one more time. Treed but could not even get back to shine but it was a good track. Next three dumps we let Doc out by himself, made two trees one with a coon and one we could not shine but very little. Last dump Doc struck and ran about 400 yards and we had to catch him, going wrong way and too close to a road. Over all it was a pretty good night, seen three skunks cross the road going hunting and seen two coons cross the roads and who know how many deer. Seems everything was moving tonight.

We are going to Keep Riptide on here and finish this year and by then we will have pups out of at least 4 pretty darn good bitches or more and more than likely will stop kicking around and start to see how they perform, not going to have a ton of worthless hounds running around as there is already enough of that. I have always felt the females mean about 60% or better what the pups turn out like so we hope we hit the jack pot with a few. I have seen that some have breed and had pups from several worthless bitches and up too 12 to 15 litters and little to nothing to show for, why they do it blows my mind, oh wait they did some winning. But if they do not reproduce why keep breeding them? I'm not as narrowed minded as some and definitely not color blind, nor blood line blind.

Some of you will get this while others scratch your head. I just could not resist.
Many have a saying in thier profile so I thought I would give it a try! LOL!
Insight into character comes from listening intently to the spoken word. The physical person, their charisma, charm and dramatic flair is more often used to persuade audiences, as they use these stealth tools of disguise and deception. Pretty darn good huh?

Just called it a night, made three dumps and made two trees with coons one we could not shine. Took Doc and a new face as we are going to start mixing Doc up a little with other hounds. First one not so good, second one nailed it and third one not too good, Doc got tied back and did not like it, in between, treeing with her or not. The walker dog put it on him on the last one pretty bad!

I have been thinking for a pretty long time on what some think about why they want to breed their female to your hound. The bitch is not registered, she will not tree a coon, crazy as bat hell in the kennel, meaner that a junk yard dog, junkier than the best, bark in the kennel / dog box and bark from the time you collar them until they tree or you catch them, short legged and no track speed. Some may like that but If I would not hunt a pup out of the female I will not and would not breed too it. If we would all do that I feel the breed would advance. Key things I like is a hound with a handle, junk free, not a babbling idiot as I call them, go hunting and when you walk to a tree there is something there and last but not least if you can hunt with your buddy or pups with the hound why have them? I'm by no means a professional breeder but have hunted with some that have had some top hounds / owners with some of the top percentages and they harped all the times about these standards topics and it paid off for them big time. I know some will agree and I know some will always have their cliques and disagree but thought it was worth stressing!

We recvied a picture of Bella and looks like she took as she is getting big and is not due until 7/5. Hoping for at least a few out of this litter as this is the cross I wanted a female out of.
Been asked by a few already as to a due date on this cross and the answer is should be around July 5th., and yes they are going to be UKC performance, PKC Super Staked and CHKC Super Sired.

Now here is one some of you fellow Bluetick men will love. This is not joke, this weekend a guy asked me what BOSS was and I said I would get it wrong so let me pull the right meaning off my phone and lord and behold this is what came up up. As soon as he read it he said you A-hole. I said what, did you not read it? He said you know what I meant! LOL!
Here is what he read!
BOSS / is Dutch in origin and is a bastardization of the Dutch "base." Its use was a uniquely American way of avoiding the word "master," which had quickly become associated with slavery by the mid-19th century. Of course, bosses are far from slave drivers (though I know a few people who would love to argue that point), so the new Dutch word was a convenient moniker for the rising capitalistic equivalent of the corporate figurehead.
So much for the internet huh!

Heading back in. We took Doc and Betty tonight and had a pretty good night. Good weather and we hit 4 tracks and made 4 trees. One we could not find, one in the ground after a chase of about 450 yards and treed 2 and seen 2. The weather could stay like this the rest of the summer and I would be happy!
Sound Video of Doc and Betty treed, were getting hot but still a pretty nice job. Click on link to view / hear

I keep reading about what the studs have to offer and who will show what. I feel the female brings as much or more to the table as the male. Too many breed bitches with bad traits and breeding and the owner of the bitches can not figure out why the pups are not worth two cents. Go figure! Hard enough to get good pups out a two good hounds with the breeding to back it up, then you breed worthless bitches??

Tonight we took Riptide and Doc out for a few drops. Coons did not seem to running very good. First drop Riptide went right at 900 yards and circled back around to the next county road and nothing, Doc about 800 plus and hit a creek and came back into us and he too nothing. Next drop Riptide hit about the next country road so we gathered up Doc and headed around to Riptide, he had one in a blackberry patch. Last drop they hit and treed about 375 yards and had and old sow and a kitten. Riptide is not being hunted very much lately and did get a little warm, but did not hurt treeing and having the meat and getting gone!

Bella had (8) pups, (5) males and (3) females and should be ready around early Sept. We have added pictures of the pups, bitch and Sire and pedigrees. Pups are marked up real nice all across the litter. Well keep the pictures updated as they get closer to weaning age. The pups are UKC performance, PKC Super Staked and CHKC Super Sired. Pups will be located in Central Indiana and Southern Indiana. If anyone is interested call the following numbers and ask for Corey.

Boy is it hot! We have not had the Blues out since 7/3 and not missing much from what I'm being told. Been working on a medical issue which has slowed me down but hope to be back at it a little next week. Suppose to cool down and hope to feel up to it. Have fans on the dogs and plenty of shade and let me tell you they are satisfied where they are right now. They lay in front of the fans nearly all the time. Last night at 9:30 it still had 87 degrees, too much for the hounds I feel. I had one real good hound go down on me one time and he was never right after that, could not handle stress and had spells that would last for days. Wont happen again If I have anything to say about it. And the young ones dont act right either. Surley the Blue Dogs dont go bad in a few weeks! LOL!

Well today is me and my wonderful wife's Shirley 37 th wedding anniversary. In todays world you don't get to see this very much. I will say one thing my wife Shirley has never and mean never complained about my hunting or having hounds or evening buying a hound. No see she does not hunt but she loves dogs and treats them great. When we are gone on hunting trips she cares for the rest of our hounds and does it just like I would with the exception of a little extra food! LOL!

Hoping to get back to normal with medical issue pretty darn soon. Have not been out for a few weeks but may try a short hunt this week. I'm sure Doc and Riptide are getting tired of setting in the pen with the fans on!

Here are a few pictures of pups out of Riptide and Bella and are right at 5 weeks old. We really liked getting this cross made, Bella has some really good hounds running through her on her top and bottom. The entire litter is marked up very good this dark or darker. Matt is doing a very good job on raising these little ones up. We will be going and getting these later this month. Two males left that we are going to sell.

We have dumped loose three places so far tonight and ran two tacks. Treed one right out of the box at about 725 yards and the next track they ran in a corn field and struggled. Was not the best of tracks but did get it treed along a old ditch up under a root wade. It is very dry, hoping to get a good soaker!
