As I sit here this morning reading all this stuff, I am truly reminded of the worldly things that take my focus away from what matters in life.

God has been trying to send me a message for some time now, firstly this world hunt situation, (which in my mind is settled), regardless of the "official" decision, then my Drama female had a freak hunting accident breaking her spinal cord from a fall, then my kennels got flooded from a 100 year flood here in Boone, NC where I live. All of these things happening in a short amount of time.

Now all of this sounds like I'm looking for some kind of sympathy from you all and trying to make people feel sorry for me, when in fact, my message, or should I say Gods message, is the opposite. And no I'm not a preacher, however I am a Christian.

Too many times I've seen negative things happen to people when they don't listen to God. As far as coon hunting in my life, God is clearly trying to send me a message.

Now for the record- I'm not Quiting hunting- it's who I am, it's in my DNA. However for now, I'm going to "slow down" and try to be obedient.

If we allow to accept things with an open mind, and be obedient, God will turn all these things going on right now, into something positive in my life.

I have 2 boys and another baby due in May, so maybe this coon hunting stuff will have to take a back seat for a while. But rest assured, I'll be round in the future to hopefully give some solid competition.

In conclusion, I ask you gentlemen to take a moment, be thankful for the opportunity to be involved and participate in the things God allows us to do. Focus on what matters-cause I assure you, in the end, hunting isn't one of the things that matter. It's simply a blessing that God allows.

I'm confident that one of the reasons these things have happened to me, is to share this message with you.

Allen, you seem like a guy I would like. Anytime you are in South Carolina for the Grand American or any of the Jamborees, you have a place to hunt. Just call me and we will go, sounds like you have your priority’s in life in order.

Absolutely! I havnt missed the GA in probably 15 years. It's probably my favorite hunt. I have a few private tracks down there to hunt, I will definitely look you up. Thanks

1. UKC rules require a question on the card for anything to be heard by the MOH, my understanding is that there wasn't one on the night in question. Without a question there can be no formal complaint, without a formal complaint why is there an investigation?

2. If there was a question why was he allowed to hunt Friday night and go on to win the World Hunt?

3. I have been told more than once by UKC that when the hunt is over and the deadline has passed and no complaints have been filed that the results are final and complete. Why are they looking into anything at all ?

Sure, the rules were not followed according to some of the posts on here but if the paperwork wasn't done at the time then it is completely irrelevant in my opinion. I don't know the man that owns Sam, his handler or any of the others in question but if you have a problem with what happened in any of the casts you have ever been on and didn't do the paperwork then the results are final and you don't have a legitimate complaint according to the rules as they are printed. I'm sure I will hear all about why I'm wrong on this, but from what I have read Sam is the World Nite Hunt Champion like it or not.

First of all I would like to congratulate Mr. Allen Storie for his post. I try to give credit when credit is due. Especially in this day and time. It’s one the most positive post I have seen on this board. First by publicly saying that he is a Christian! Second for reminding us that this great sport shouldn’t guide us in life. Third and most importantly the fact that he is taking time to spend with his family. Congratulations on your new edition!
I have personally hunted with Allen on a cast before and would consider him a stand up guy. Allen you are more than welcome to come down from the hills with your kids and hunt with me anytime. Have plenty of spots to take the kids. Maybe some of us can learn a thing or two about what should matter in life.

First of all MISCONDUCT is not under the heading of the rules you are describing. It has a completely different set of rules and no question has to be on the card. It is a stand alone offense and even includes UKC dogs destroying hotel property. Those ARE the rules, and they appear to be following them.

Now I am not taking sides, I have no clue who did what, when or where.

But I do know that they are following the rules because I posted the direct quote from this very website about misconduct. Anyone that witnesses misconduct can file the complaint with UKC at any time and they don't even have to be a part of the hunt (see the Hotel example).

Hasty opinions and/or decisions are seldom right/correctly made. Thank UKC for ignoring these distractions and taking the time to reach the best decision in this case. P.s. Well, it takes a while to find the rules you are referring to, and most would not even come close to applying unless someone filed a complaint the night of the event, but I did find this part very interesting.

Any person who becomes aware of an act or event related misconduct AFTER the event, must notify UKC
with a written, signed complaint within 7 days of the event.

While I am not taking any side, and yes I have a very strong opinion on which way it should go, the misconduct implication has no time limit for the night and requires and investigation to complete. It isn't something that can be done on that night totally. If all that has been said here is TRUE, I know what needs to be done, and that will require a little more investigation and what a guides duties really are.

i look at it this way:why did this question come up after the world was over.i dont care if it was misconduct or not.it should have been questioned at the zones.besides they had a whole week to question anything if you want to look at all the gray areas in every rule.they let him go through and in my opion the best dog won.to my amaze those other handlers or owners or both are sore losers.maybe they should impleament a rule only the owner of the dog handle there own.in the zones and the world.and non hunting judges and guides can judge a dog or guide a dog only once.through the process from the zones to the world.kinda of like the htx rules.so tired of people looking for ways to win.just let the best dog win.

Sounds like Sambo did his job but was let down by his handler for not adhering to the rules on at least 2 occasions during zones and finals. This is a sport where the handler is just important as the dog. And too many times a dog loses due to handling. And this sounds like another example of handler error . Too much controversy surrounding this situation. Hunt the dog , Read the book !

Just an observation people are saying handler misconduct at zones. If the judge says 4 min left and dog is treed how is that handler misconduct. And as far as the finals go it is not uncommon for the backup judge or guide to go with someone to handle a dog. Congratulations to the final 4

One thing for sure ol sam must be coonhound I haven't hunted with him but proof doesn't lie he a winning machine no matter the outcome it has been to long now time to shake off dust and get up and go .

No it is not. It can be used, just not to talk about scores between cast etc.. Can you imagine the liability of a rule that said you could not be contacted in case of emergency? Court system and the hungry attny's would eat them up.
