Well to prove your point...why don't you just manipulate Boone into being on the list

The problem I see with the list is mainly with the requirements for the stud list.
It is realistic for females to reach the 20 pup minimum to make the list while still breeding for top quality.
But in this day and age with dwindling over all numbers of Redbone hunters I think it is pretty much impossible for anyone with a redbone stud to selectively breed only for top quality and still get to 100 pups in its natural lifetime. There just are not that many top quality red females out there and they are split up between many different studs when they get bred. The times have changed and so should that 100 pup minimum because regardless of this talk of lowering standards.... having to maintain that number is forcing our stud owners to lower their standards on what they will breed to. If that minimum was 40 or 50 pups...which is plenty to see patterns from truly great reproducers...the list would show 4 or 5 different much higher % reproducers in this breed who currently do not get any recognition for producing a high % of titled pups.
This is better for the breed than leaving things the way they are. But people in this breed always seem scared to change anything...and when someone does change or talks about it...they get ridiculed and mocked for doing something before the results even come in.
Many times it's those who have accomplished the least...bashing and trashing those who have accomplished the most. I wonder when young people and people new to the breed see this...if that makes them want to put in the hard work to build a list of accomplishments in this breed???

With the advent of the interweb, do we even need the Lists to make breeding decisions? Surely everyone knows what studs are reproducing what types of offspring and how many.
Sure they give owners another way to compete with their stud and get some recognition other than putting them in hunts.
Shane, Jared said that he and Garret were still hunting and winning with Boone himself and didn't care about breeding him or getting him on the List.

I'm not concerned with what I know....its what I don't know that I would like to know to make better crosses that is of concern to me. I don't know exactly how many titled offspring Jet has or how many are Nites or Grands...i only know about the ones out of the females we bred to him. I don't know how many Boone has or a lot of other dogs that are not on the stud list.
I have or am partners on 5 or 6 good reproducing Grand Nite females and another half dozen Nite Champion females who are on their way to Grand that I want to breed to different stud dogs and I want the facts and stats...not opinions to help me make the best crosses. Our breeding program doesn't consist of just breeding to whatever dog is winning this month...it has more to do with identifying dominant reproducers of winners that come from lines of the same
It's not easy to get all the facts off the interweb...

Nah, dont misunderstand. I think you are spot on. I dont recognize you either but thats cool cause Im nobody. Just a long time redbone hunter whose pissed that the dogs dont seem any more successful now than they were when I started hunting them and the people that "love the breed" dont seem that concerned about making better dogs but more concerned with themselves.

If folks arent willing to do anything but look for lower standards to make a list...Id say they can expect more of the same.
