That was Horsefly Murr. A great guy and a good friend of mine. He had a dog or two that came from here and I hunted with him from time to time. His health is not too good and no longer has dogs. Lived at the end of a long county road.
Adios,
gary

I'm terrible with names also, but Horsefly, come on....

Posted by Gary Roberson on 10-20-2017 03:02 PM:

In the phone book he was listed as T. W. Murr but his nickname from the time he was a boy stuck. Horsefly was quite the athlete at Junction back in the 40's. I am not sure how many years he was the state champion in the 100 and 200 yard dashes. Being the character that he was and had the ability to bray just like a jackass, he would walk out on the track and bray just before going to the blocks.
Menard had a fellow who ran the sprints for Armed Forces team back in the 40's whose name was Billy Joe Haney. After the war was over and Billy Joe returned to Menard, the folks from Junction and Menard decided that there needed to be a match race between Horsefly and Billy Joe. The folks in this part of the country loved to gamble on horse races and would match anything where they could place a bet.
I think that the race was held at the horse race track in Junction, Menard folks betting on Billy Joe and the Junction folks piling money on the younger Horsefly Murr. Billy Joe won the race and now you know the rest of the story...
Adios,
Gary

Warm White light is far superior to the 'brightest White light{s}' on the planet...... in the Coon hunting world.

I used to think this way too.....But not anymore.
When Coonhunters first started seeing these LED Lights come out, some were kind of a Blue White.....Very hard for me to see a Coon's Body & Fur. Then Light Builders started using a Yellow looking tinted LED or a Warm as some call it. Not much better for me to find a Coon.
When I got my Bushwhacker 2 yrs ago, something changed to where I could actually see the Fur. Then I got my Reaper, the same thing---I could actually see the Body of a Coon really well.
I think a lot of it has to do with each Individual and how they see things with their eyes.

Lights....

I think something has changed with the New LED's........
I tried my New Superior Hellcat last night.....it has the Bright White Main Beam, I could count the rings on a Coons Tail in the very top of these Huge Indiana Oak Tree's.......😉

If there is a Better, Brighter, more dependable Light than the Brighteyes Reaper or the Superior Hellcat.......I would Love to see it. ( I am positive it doesn't exist...😬 )

Any thoughts on the extinguisher?

I ordered an extinguisher belt light from Nite Time about a month ago. Never recieved it, and cc never charged thankfully. I was told it was a fantastic light. So i just keep charging up my Amazon $45 special and keep using it. Would likr to find a good belt light with good service.
