Mr Nash your last two posts are making a good argument for passing out bundles of firewood and marshmallows at bluetick days

He he haw haw. I just want it to be fair and still keep the hunts fun. People are to serious and never happy. Even if every rule got changed the same people arguin will still complain when they dont win.

are you serious ? every vote cast was cast by people who have a impact on the breeds to better them for the next generation . take the babbler as an example.before the one minute rule was put in effect wasnt to many that babbled .now the babblers are a dime a dozen . lol look at all the 50 to 70 percent dogs in the world today breed for the sake of a winner.the deep lonely dogs with the nose of a rat terrier need i say more?.

They just had a chance to do almost away with the 1 min rule. It failed 6 to 1. Does that mean the breeders are now breeding babblers?

I surely don't no the answer to make things work, but submitted a rule change a few years ago to my breed rep and was told by him that he didn't like it and it probably would not going to put it forward, which it wasn't. So what do you do from there?

Posted by Turman_Creek on 09-09-2016 03:16 PM:

Instead of a tree count down rule why doint you try after 3 min. tree dead..

1 minute rule

To me that would have really slowed the babblers down because if it would have been required to srike on 3rd bark after the 1st turn loose, alot of dogs could have been minused right in front of you before they had a chance to get out of sight, like in the old days. Was told by my breed rep that the Walker reps were REALLY against that rule proposal, but apparently they weren't the only ones. Wonder why!!!!

Only hunted in a few casts with the 3 minute tree rule of other registry, but do know that really speeds up a cast. I like it, but it can wear on us old guys to keep on the move scoring trees. Can just about guarantee that would never pass over here. Take care, Ron.

no not necessarily . it just means they were bright enough to realize that to vote to do away with the one min. rule would hurt hunt attendance where numbers are on the decline nation wide.after all we have rules in place that should make the babbler a non issue in a cast of honest hunters .lol

That's kinda sad but I think your probably right

I'm suprised at just how many apparently believe a specific rule or rule change can significantly increase or decrease entries. Of all the excuses I have ever heard for staying home, I have yet to ever hear someone say they stayed home because of a certain rule. I really cannot envision anything more chickenchit.

I've heard a couple on this board say that was why they haven't and wouldn't center a slam series hunt. $250 for a minus right off the leash is gonna get pricey real quick.

Then why did they put the 1 min rule in?

Posted by yadkintar on 09-10-2016 04:49 PM:

For three more years we are stuck with them !! Because it's easyer to put up with them instead of make them train or breed it out. People love they're babbling dogs.

I dont think they need to get rid of it. But shorten it to like 30 sec. Some dogs are gunna bark a lil when u cut outa pure excitment. Itd be a shame to minus for that.

The thing is it can be brokr. Use to never happen and still don't with die hard pleasure hunters. Because it's broke. Thing is for hunters in comp world today. Most are not breaking them from it. Let them do as they please. They know as well as I do they want get minused. If they did away with it. You would not have the barking. That's a guarantee there. They get scratched they will break it.

A babblin dog is gunna babble before the min and after the min. Without that grace period all ur gunna do is make people strike em. Which gives no dog a chance to get a honest strike. People with babblin dogs most likely wont do it right away. And if they wait for that min to strike then its obvious what kinda dog they got. All in all it wouldnt be as bad if people were brave enough to minus that dog

Minus em. You want get it to stick. . I don't even know how it is up there. Here 2 or 3 gonna be babbling away. Sometimes all 4 haha. The one min rule caused it all.

Yup and when they have to strike them now you can say without a doubt they are babbling because ive still got my light on them as apposed to being struck 200 yards in the wwoods.

Wouldnt it just be easier to see a dog thats openin off the chain thru the min. Then after the min the guy then strikes em and the dog doesnt have anything treed soon after. Then its obvious to me

The problem is too many do not know how to tell the difference when a dog is babbling on just got a better nose then the rest of the cast.
IT AL ENDS UP BEING A MATTER OF AN OPINION!!

HERE IS A TRUE STORY..........
At a world zone hunt semi final,a cast member that was known for keeping top hounds and had placed high in PKC and UKC world hunts cut loose .His dog struck immediately and after a few minutes other dogs got struck in also. A tree was made and new ground was found.
Second turn out once again this cast member immediately struck his dog.
No other dog was saying a word.At this point the hunting judge declared he was going to minus the mans dog for babbling. All the cast members whom had no dogs opening yet agreed .
The guy protested stating his dog had a good nose and was a quick strike dog to no avail.
He immediately re-struck his dog in for 100. No other dogs were still opening yet.
The dog went about 200 yards total from turn out to tree.100 after getting minus and re-struck.Other dogs got struck in just before the tree and a coon was scored.
I absolutely believe this man was ROBBED!!
When hunting this caliber of hunt and dogs 100 points is hard to make up and yes he lost the cast.

This sounds like a guy who says his dog has good nose when really it's babbling. I guess you cut them across an open hay field and it's still got a good nose. I would have minused him to.
