Really ? you have dogs leashlocked, you last heard the struck dog 500 yards to the north but the handler now knows his dog is deep south. You can walk north if ya wanna, (but if its my dog its my 8)and me and the rest of the cast are going to hike south to try and hear him.
And its not cheating, UKC has supported that its the logical thing to do.

As long as the cast agrees, yes per

RULE # 3. At no time may a handler demand the cast walk in the direction of a hound that has not been heard opening. The judge, or majority of the cast when hunting judge is used, may agree to walk in that direction

You stated earlier that before the Garmin could be used, after you scored a tree ,you walked back to the last place you heard the dog before starting the eight. What rule did you use to do this? The answer is NONE. We did this as a courtesy, so the handler had the best opportunity. Why would you not extend the same courtesy to the handler, that now we know where the dog is? To me, purposely holding a handler out of hearing of a dog, with a known location, is cheating

10-4 That's why I will NEVER enter a night hunt. And the fact that it's all drama. from what i read on the board it's like being back in High School.

Duck you can't let what you read on this board keep you from trying out the hunts. THIS is where most of the drama is. Just go to a few hunts and try it. You'll find there's allot of laughs and good times at the club and the hunts are more often than not easy going and friendly.

Dont let the back and forth on here keep you away, the vast majority of hunts are alot of fun if you go with the right attitude. There is a learning curve just like any other sport, a couple grand for a dog, 30 grand for a truck, 800 for a dogbox,400 for a light.
A night in the woods listening to some new dogs tree a coon PRICELESS.

Oh you don't really want to have to hunt against these northern dogs do you. Our dogs are 80 - 90% with the leaves on (as long as you delete den trees and big leafy poplars) I'd hate to see John AND his dog have to kick your tail. LOL

SSSSSTRIKEEEEEEE Sacketts Deep loner........ ok now judge...lets split the difference..

LOL- Surprised I'm the first to post that......

The above is not good sportsmanship, but would be better than cussing and moaning.......

And yes, the judge may not accept the call

All in good fun fellas
