Walkerman75 does have a good one. Iv seen it in action. But there is still alot that are slick treers. Blueticks are mainly just slow. At least what iv seen. I can only speak for my own experiences. I still wouldn't mind eventually ownin a black n tan too just for pleasure

Bash away fellas...I think it's hilarious and all in fun anyway. In my time {a right good while} I have owned and loved them all...even won a few, and I have been beaten soundly by them all.
I blast on everything too, but honestly my favorite dog right now is my Walker. He would rather have me pet him than eat a steak. That said, winning something big with him would just be a win...doing it with an off color dog, well, that would really be something.
It wasn't but about a year or so ago that the best tree dog I had was the wife's toy miniature Australian shepherd. Cut loose a caged coon and all the coonhound puppies ran the other way...out comes the stupid house dog and she runs it clean down to the woods and locks the tree. Now you know GD well that made us all feel real good!!!!

I'm setting out in the kennel with my pup, I gave him a pig ear 👂 I don't think I've seen a pup so happy, he's differently enjoying it.

Sleepyhead jmo but that time you are spending with that pup will pay big dividends later a dog will perform better for you if he likes you!

The Walkers I have been hunting with are not as you are describing.

Don't have much experience with Blue dogs. The fellas I knew in my area that hunted Blue dogs sure liked to sit around and tallk about hunting. They would jaw about dogs off the Hammer Line of Dave Dean , and Smoky River blah blah blah.....they had a kennel full of blue dogs they rarely took hunting. They loved to talk about hunting and bloodlines but when it was time to hunt it was always to hot or to windy or to cold , excuse after excuse not to hunt. I just assumed all guys who owned Blueticks were like them. Lol

Honest truth is I have never seen a Blue dog tree a coon. Heard tell of it but never seen it with my own eyes.

I have 3 blue dogs 2 pups m and f. And a 7 yr old female. And I'm always ready to go out. And also love to hear stories

And maybe they don't like to hunt wit u and to nice to say anything other than an excuse. No offense or anything cause I don't know you. But people do that. I know one guy who's a great guy but his dogs were the kinda dogs you didn't want ur dogs huntin wit. And he's questionable bout the places hel take ya. So it's limited times we actually go wit him.

I agree, I would sure like to be the first to show him a bluetick that could tree a coon!!!!! We might talk about our dogs after we hunt. He has a good point too, most walkers do not hunt or act like a lot of people say. I have seen some that do of all breeds and honestly the guys that keep, hunt and feed them amaze me more than the dogs.

I'm glad us Plott guys aren't up for a razzing but I'm sure it's just a matter of time. LOL

Posted by walkerman75 on 06-14-2015 05:58 PM:

all breed hunters always talk smack about other breeds. thats just way it goes.. just seems like the walker dogs are at top of hit list from all other breed hunters.. me personaly i have hunted them all.. i like walkers an have had walkers for 20 yrs. i like a dog that goes hunting an trees coon.. ive had walkers get on a cold track an go a mile in january with 8 inches of snow.. an do it in a matter of 30 min or so .. an i got a buddy that has a bluetick that do the same thing but take him 2 hrs to do it... an i no alot of guys gona say that most walkers make 20 trees in that mile streatch.. but if you let them slick then they all will slick. no matter coller.. i could get on here an bash all other breeds all day long like most do..big thing is if you gota bash a dif breed to make yourself feel better. maybe you should think of switching to a dif breed so ya dont have to bash the rest..

Might be hard to hammer 🔨 on the x's sense they have something in them that rest of us hunt, but doesn't mean we shouldn't try.

I'm afraid the blue bones will hurt the x's

Posted by Terry Dye on 06-14-2015 08:17 PM:

Best kept secret in the treedog world! The treeingest, grittiest, ugliest, most accurate coldest nosed coon treeing critter on earth. And that's just an average one! I heard through the rumormill that UKC was finally gonna legalize them in the hunts, so you boys better hurry and find you one. Since most of this thread is BSing anyway, I thought I'd sling a little too. Y'all have a good day!

I have a walker bluetick cross and when I feel like shinning every tree I tell him to use his walker blood lol
