Sorry Richard, I did forget about Wendy. Congrats to her and Buck as well.

Willow has settled in her temporary home. I will be keeping an eye on her. This should be a very nice line cross. Thanks to Wendall and the Cartel for giving Boone this oppertunity. Willow Has 4 wins toward Grand, so this is a very nice looking pedigree. I'm very excited about this Cross. They should be born around the middle of September. The Litter should also be Performanced and Superstaked as well.

Mr. Bond and I had a pretty good talk while we were there at the grounds. Talked alot about dogs and Willow and he mentioned she was coming into heat. He said he had not really decided what to breed her to....I am glad he decided on Boone. That cross makes alot of sense to a breeder like me. I have hunted with both Willow and Boone and that cross has the potential to produce some really nice dogs. Like the Rocky x Chick cross....you have Rabble up close top and bottom. I think line breeding on Rabble is going to bring alot of the volume and style of mouth that many of us like in our redbones. Down the road I would really like to see how some of these linebred Rabble dogs cross on linebred Outlaw / Moonlight dogs. I have a sneaking suspicion that those two peices of the puzzle are going to bridge a gap that has been holding our breed back from reaching its full potential. Its really exciting to me to watch how everything is starting to unfold for these different lines of competition bred redbones. I know we have many different groups or teams working on different lines to concentrate the desirable traits that will take us to the top.....but I see some big mergers of some of these teams on the horizon and I think one or more of these new merged teams is going to move on up to the big legues

It was a pretty easy decision. Willow is the product of a complete outcross...Rabble X Sally. Boone is the product of a complete outcross...Haze X Reba (CD X Pepper Ann). So the next logical step was to linebreed Willow back to her nephew, Boone. That is the "paper" part. Next was the "selection" process. You take a top female out of great parents and breed her to a top male out of great parents. In other words...coondog to coondog.

New Puppies on the way

Boone got er done with Willow today. Round 2 will hopefully be tommarow. These pups should be Performanced and Spring Super Staked. Looking forward to this great cross. Willow has 4 wins toward Grand. So these pups have a great looking pedigree with coondogs on all sides. The pups should be born around the middle of September.

Reba should be out of heat this week and then Keith can start on finishing her to Grand Night also. Don't forget that Willow will have to be DNA'd and PKC registered. If Willow is anything like her mother, she will "stand" for another week or two.

That Willow and Boone cross should be pretty tough coon dogs by the bloodlines.Just like Toadie and Boone.Started to swim my Toadie and Boone pup to day for about 2 minutes she sure can move the water.might have to try and swim ole Whizzie when she get older.

Oh my goodness, you mean that these pups are going to be S/S eligible? Darn, I sure do wish that my Willow pup, Wendy, was S/S eligible. Wendy could have won some big money at the 1 yr old S/S this Fall.

I also heard that Wendell may make a pup deal to serious competition hunters as well. So you may want to give him a call. So don't wait to long.

Boone finished with round 2 yesterday. So I figure about one more time will seal the deal.

I'm gonna work on getting Willow into some of these Indiana coons in the next week or two.

I'm glad to see ya working with Wizzie. I have been taking mine for walks about every night. Fancy is about to introduced to her first coon hide before long. I know Keith has been working with his, he has been sending me videos. Keep me posted on the progress.

Well I introduced my 10 week old Boone and Toadie pup to a hide the other night and she went nuts. I have a good video but haven't figured out how to post it yet. She sniffed around on it for a second or two and then barked at it like she had done it forever. It's funny how her instincts took over. I was excited with the outcome.

Thanks for reporting George. I got a call from Keith yesterday and he said his pup got to see a caged coon and he went nuts and didnt back down from it. That's great for being only 11 weeks old.

coon huntin rig

Picked me up a new coon huntin rig a couple of weeks ago. Richard the next time you come up we will have a new rig to ride in. I had my buddy make a rack for the back now we can have 4 people and 4 dogs no problem.

That kind of rig lets one get out and run with the big dogs. Even old timers can keep up. Only thing is, it cuts out on some of the 'music'.
