Ol Hemi will open out of place when put down with dogs but she will shut up within the minute. If she is struck then is that her fault or the handlers? The ol girl don't owe me anything she did what I wanted and the pups are all I was wishing for!!!
Hemi is a coontreer that's a fact!! Got a big motor that's a fact! She also gives a handler alot to work with not the least of which is eyeballs in the tree!! Funny when we do get a winner in our breed we want to cut them down! Ol Hemi is treeing coons for fun waiting to produce some more pups for Wayne now I'd bet she could care less if she meets the exacting standards of her critics!!
Did you ever hunt with her? Mojo?
At the end of the day folks they are just a dog some develop a larger than life personality and I have seen first with 2 eyes regardless of wins or reputation they can all get beat! WALKERs included!
I like several good walkers by the way.

Never been with either. Just what i heard from handlers.
I was txting a friend about her and that she has to be having her coons to win that much. I dont like babblers, thats why i didnt bring her up.
I never said walkers couldnt be beat either.
Mason lost right here in MO at at $50 2 nights in a row.
Im not blind or think those dogs are untouchable. Was making a point about winners producing winners on a natio nal level.

2 blues in mo.
go hunt with bo jackson and gauge.there both near you.
jealousy is the #1 problem in the bluetick breed.walker and english guys will breed to whatever they think it will take to get on top,no matter who owns it.
bluetick guy{s} or a big % anyways...don't want to admit that somebody else might have something better!!so they won't breed outside their "circle".
Outside of breeding, and genetics this is what I think helps make that Top hound better.
I was told by and old timer, and it has worked for me. To have a dog that can concistanly win where evr he is set down, you have to hunt him 30-40to hrs a week, he has gotta go hunting, with noa quit, and be able to take corrections with out getting his feelings hurt.

Not many ppl can work a full time job, and hunt 30-40 hrs a week, not counting the drive time to and from hunting spots. I tip my hat to those that can.

If i was getting one ready thats what I'd do. Thats seven nights a week bout 5hrs a night. You do this for about 45 nights and you'll know what your packing.

Justin, what about the Echo bred studs out there. Have you checked on any of them. I know there is several that speak very highly of them and have been using them. Also, Tom Jennings and Matt Turner seem to be producing some nice hounds. I have talked with Matt before a good guy and straight shooter. I also liked what Kevin said about Gauge. Have you ever hunted with anything off of Gauge? I have hunted with a couple out of Elbraders Rebel dog I liked. I owned Rebel's sister for a while She is a lot of what has been described. When she was hunted she was consistently in the pkc ratings. She hunted hard and fast. I hear she may be having some pups in a couple months.

I'll toss my 2 pennies in here as I'm a pretty opinionated person and don't mind sharing mine.
I'll agree with everybody on this post that has said drive, hunt, heart, GO whatever you want to call it is the number one thing the Bluetick breed lacks, BUT they are out there. I've got a 6 year old male dog that will get yonder and do it like he's late for work alone or with company. There are a heap of folks that have seen it with their own eyes and I don't mind cutting him for more folks either. That's beside the point though.
I know a heap of Bluetick folks. I'm close friends and think the world of a lot of them. The number one reason the Blueticks aren't doing more BIG winning is there aren't many SERIOUS hunters hunting Blue dogs. I'm talking hunt 5 nights a week every week rain or shine year round. Look around, the Blueticks that are winning big are owned by folks who HUNT. It isn't a Saturday night hobby to them, it's a way of life. I'm in the couple or 3 night a week if I'm lucky group right now. I'm not downing anybody because I myself at this point in time am a part time coon hunter. World Champions aren't made hunting 2 nights a week, 2 dumps a night.
I know there are HARD hunters in the Bluetick breed, but if EVERYONE on this thread was honest and told how many nights they hunted from last Sunday to this Saturday night I'd bet my last pay check it wouldn't average over 3 nights a week.

Justin, Thanks for the answer. Just curious. Lance
Clyde, Thats exactly why we have to try to follow good dogs. Some of us are lucky to win anything as little as we are able to hunt them sometimes. That is for sure.

Totally agree
I agree with the comment about drive. Drive is something I really want in a hound. Hunt all night giving everything it has every dump. Brummy has great drive. I personally do not prefer a hound that passes up coon to get by itself. I do like independance. In my opinion most pack dogs are trained that way. Most hunters don't seem to hunt hounds alone. I prefer to hunt mine alone most of the time. JMHO

I agree with Blue Iron then when I looked in mirror and said 2- 3 nights a week and last year counting puppies at one time there was 20 dogs in the barn.
Well since they were all had to have models and I'm being lazy I'll just pay to have them hunted. Well that don't work either, there are good handlers but when you pay $500 a month ( which is reasonable for the real hunters that actually hunt 5-6 nights s week) that dog better be all that and then some!! Add in travel expenses entries and hotel rooms to show off ol fancy and the $$$$ signs start adding up!
One day while reading a post on here where it went viral as they usually do and we as a collective group started tearing into one another I asked myself why am I doing this!!!
Now even if you did invest the $$,time, effort, handling costs, dog food etc to promote these dogs and actually won!!! You would not be home from the event yet and people would be tearing your accomplishment apart on this computer!!
Dog Sale!
1 year later own 2 for MY pleasure and I'll hit some of the hunts with TJ and call it a day!
I still own half of a bunch and when another super female comes along i'll have her for TJ or Gauge for my own Puppie needs but that'll be a piece down the road!

His wins and his ability to reproduce is why he should be bred. I like what i hear about Mason from several people, he is wild and trees lots of coons. I hear most mojo pups are the same.
Why aren't these pups put in more hunts then Bluetick hunts? If you have the ones who can win push them, if you cant afford it get a partner who can. Everyone wants to win with an underdog.
I havent brought up Hemi for a reason, she dont shut up from tailgate and back to the tailgate.
I know thery are out there just not promoted.
Perry Ross' Sally female is supposed to be a go getter that gets lowend strick and treed alone, they have had success with her.

Mason is a Mojo dog.
I've hunted 45 nights, wind rain thunder, getting ready for SS. You want to know that your dog will go hunting and get treed in those situations. Ive sent them to dogs treed, and corrected that issue if they had it. Its all in what you want. Im not a big fan of paying entry fees and getting the 15time rule applied bc he ran out of gas or wont go bc of thunder. If I show up its because i believe i can win.
