Too windy and cold tonight. Went out last night despite the wind though. Treed a nice boar and then a den. Mighty hard to hear, but the dogs got split treed and did a good job.

Went Wednesday and had a good long run and the dogs split and came up on a den. Went last night and our young dog caught one on the ground. Headed to Walker Days later this morning.

I hunt mainly in franklin and Patrick counties and it's still lots of long runs. treeing mainly boars but tracks are sure easier to find than a couple of months ago.

Been having a pretty good time training a young dog this season. Coons seems to be moving early around Radford area, where i have been hunting mostly.Look for things to get a little slower the next month or two.good luck all.

Went last night and had to deal with a little bit of cold and wind. We did manage to tree one. Then had a little run in with coyotes. All in all though not a bad night. Rough on young dogs though.

Had a good night last night despite it being bright. Treed a hot track right off the bat. Then worked a rough track and treed a den. Made one more track and ran one of those awesome hard running tracks you get on this time of year. Treed that one and had a big coon. Left them both to breed and run again. Didn't need a light to find either coon.

Had a great time at Walker Days. We did not hunt but purchased a couple of, much needed, new lights. Got some minor issues worked on with the collars and looking forward to hitting the woods tonight. Should be a good night. Good luck and stay safe for all those going out tonight!

Posted by sink on 02-26-2013 03:48 PM:

Last night was not a good night at all for us. Our young dog got put back in the box early for messing with a cow, which he has never done before, and our older dog ran a track forever and never got satisfied with a tree. Rain out tonight so will be back at it Wednesday.

Posted by dutchhollar on 02-27-2013 03:38 AM:

Went out last night and just took my nite champion female. Hit a track just down from the truck. Ran for about a mile or so and treed. Had a coon. Just called it a night because of work. Didn't make it out tonight because of the rain.

Had a tuff night. Dog got treed 900yrds away and showed him near the train tracks. Went to him and he was about 100yards above the track on a rock bluff. He was stuck and could not get down. Made two tries to get to him and could not. Found the coon and shot it and it fell straight off the bluff. Eagle was able to see the coon but could not find his way back out. Made a decision to leave him and come back first thing in the morning. Was tuff for me this is the first time I had ever left him. On my way home at 11:00 pm shaw a friend at a store stopped and talked to him. He said that he would go back with me and try to get him out. We got back and GPS showed him still there. It was 11:30 pm so we where able to get to him and get him down. Had to use the leads to tie off to get down the bluff. Got home around 2:30 this morning. It is nice to have freinds that are willing to help out in tuff times. Thanks Dewanye Mundy.

20+ pound coon might just be going on my wall.

Posted by pttm08 on 03-05-2013 07:29 PM:

Been a slow week. My male got hit by a truck last Saturday so I have not done much hunting at all. Went Saturday night turned loose my female and three other dogs tracking. Fell treed went to shine the tree notice something good size out on a limb. Assumed it was two coons went tied dogs back. Buddy yelled at me and low and behold it was a turkey sitting there watching us. The tree was hollow as hollow could be. But that turkey sat there the entire time watching us. First time I have had one sit and watch usually fly off when dogs hit. This will give me some more time to work with my female and hopefully get her going good.
Godd luck on this last week!
