talked to O.D.N.R yesturday, and they have recieved numerouse questions about the drop in the coon population, and they are going to look into it.. it is there bekief it was a case of west niel, that went throught n.w. ohio

Here in SE Ohio the population seems to be near the same as years past, except for a couple of walker guys in my area hunting some of my honey holes out on the ridge where i grew up. I'm right on average with all other years wit coon treed per drop/per night. Sorry to hear you guys up north are experiencing such a drop in numbers

A fur buyer told me a guy found 8 dead coon in one woods. I found 2 more but also been treeing some nice coon the past few nights, going to give it try again tonight

been treein the usual amount here in southern wv but they seem to be runnin a lil further and the tracks seem a lil colder,but still treein coon with these ole clover dogs,seem to be killin a few more sow coons this year,i have always been told if you tree two or more in a tree to shoot the one lowest in the tree,have been doin that and they were sows,dont shoot but one so dont know what the other was.

seem to be moving a little better now. It was just unusual for the time of year for them to not be stirring at all. Had a guy tell me the other day he thinks desease killed a bunch. havent found any sick or any dead laying in the woods. Can coon get blue tongue as well?

they may can't get blue tongue, but stagnant water kills alot of animals. west nile, other diseases, and drought makes habitat unable to sustain life in streams, period.
found dead coon in woods, nothing would touch it, not even a opposum, coyote or nothing till it rotted away. thats pretty bad cause they'll eat a road kill up after you scent drag it, yotes'll eat a opposum up quick too, seen it.
