My first redbone was 90% accurate because he would ckeck the tree 3-5 times before commiting and these high strung tree dogs would lock down on his first or second locate and u can t win hunts takeing second and third tree. Shane keep up the plan u have look foward to seeing u and ur dogs in the winners column.

So
In my opinion the clover line of walkers are quick to locate and tree with accuracy. The ones I've seen go anyway. What line do you think has that trait in the red dogs? Just curious

My only goal in life is to be the kind of person my dog thinks i am ! (Jeff Foxworthy)
I agree
I dont want a tree grabber, but to win they have to get struck and be a quick locater, If I had the time to post the 6 gen on Jack and Deuce it would show a different side of the fireball stuff, it was bred heavy in a different direction than some of the others, these dogs are very open trailing and quick locaters.I think by linebreeding them that I may be able to increase the # of pups per litter that carry those traits, Ive seen some very nice 3rd strike 1st tree dogs in this Fireball stuff, but with these ive seen they can be 1st and 1st type hounds. They dont mind bein split, who knows what will happen down the road. Im trying is about all I can say. If all else fails I can go to Nevergone in a few years and breed the best females I produced or maybe that someone else produced right back to ole Jack. Its all a gamble but I think if folks work together and try to stack the deck the odds wont be as long.. I sure am enjoying the young dogs ive gotten off him, and I enjoy the calls from others who really like theirs as well. Redbones are on the comeback I have several folks that hunt other breeds trying these and hopefully they will make the grade. I know if raise off good pups with the genetic back ground to be consistent that it will pay off. As will the others who are and have been concentrating "strains" What I wont do is outcross to an inferiour dog when it gets time to outcross im gonna be driving and watching for an improvement to compliment what I have or havent accomplished..

The Return Of Fireball
I have been very fortunate to be given the chance to own and raise some hounds from a very well known and very popular strain of redbones. I hope everyone remembers the good ppl in this breed who have helped us younger guys, no matter the strain, bloodline, etc. Those folks are the reason we all have hounds we are proud of. I hope to make them proud as I move forward in my efforts to continue these hounds. As some of yall know a very dear and close friend of mine is in a very serious medical situation and it has really took its toll on me as im sure it has many others. These hounds mean an awful lot to me but not near as much as the friendships I have made thru coonhunting. I consider these guys family, they stretch from Arkansas,TN,Indiana,Michigan,Alabama,Florida,NC,NJ
,Ohio Maryland,etc... It truly amazes me how something like a coondog can bring you into contact with people who will make such an impact on your life. Everyone who reads this hopefully will think about the special people in their life and maybe even give them a call this week just to catch up.. Take care and thanks for reading.

Dale he has a decent stool not as firm as it should be, he could stand to gain a few pounds as well. Its odd how his appetite has fell off, nothing in heat,I may have to carry him to the vet. He isnt wormy, and I gave him a dose of Panacur just to be on the safe side

dog Food
I feed Diamond dog food also, I prefer to feed Diamond Naturals...my husband switched the hunting dogs over to the purple bag 'High Energy.'
I'm seeing more piles in the pens, darker stools, some are even to soft, which I don't like to see.
Diamond did have a recall on some of the dog food, you might want to check that out. Their is alot of chemicals that come from China that goes in USA dog food. And they don't don't care if they know the chemical is bad or not. I think I tryed the Diamond dog food that you are talking about and my dogs didn't like it. Maybe mine are to picky, but when all of them are being picky then they are letting me know something is wrong. I switched back to Naturals.
I hope your dog is going to be alright.
