It all boils down to dog power. Unless your going to the SS. You can say whatever but truth is the dog power ain't there or you'd be going. Just like me. Id be going to one or the other but Im lacking in the dog power.

Well I guess theres some truth to that... Although I have never seen a dog that could not be beat, and neither has anyone else.

RE WORLD HUNT LOCATION

HOPEFULLY UKC WILL BRING THE WORLD HUNT BACK TO INDIANA AND IT WOULD BE NICE IF UKC WOULD LEAVE IT IN ONE LOCATION LIKE AUTUM OAKS IS EVERY YEAR

Back up a min. there Clay.... What is the hunt called???

"World Championship"

Why does it even need to be in the "US"????

It could be held in Canada, Mexico, or South Africa!!!
The name is "World Championship" It could be held anywhere! It does not need to be in the United States even!!!!

Posted by Robert Johnson on 09-10-2012 12:27 PM:

You guys get real. If you measure distance from southeast georgia to just say richmond in., the trip takes about 10 1/2- 11 hours. To ride out the western way for us to shrevport, you are lookimg at 12 hours at best. Makes no difference to me at all where its held. Unless its held just down the street, it'll take no less than 3 hours to get anywhere. Fact is, if i was hunting, and had a real dog that could win, they could hold it in Hawaii or Alaska and i'd go. Its the most covetted title in our sport, and to win it, you have to go where its held. Plain and simple! Stop all the complaining, it isn't worth the wasted breath you are using. It will be in Shrevport LA. this year, and somewhere else next. Dog up and get ready. If i didn't know better i would think i was in a women's group meeting listening to some on here about something as trival as location. Location has nothing at all to do with whether or not you go, unless it is a money issue, with gas being so high. The real problem is what's in your heart. Are you handler enough to play with all the big boys that are there, and is your dog up to the task. Thats what it is really all about in the end. You answer yes, prove it. You answer no, then be big enough to stand on the side lines and let the rest of the field have a break from your whinning. We've heard it for a year now. Its time to let it go and grow up.

Clay i was thinking i was looking at some funeral arrangements with all the crying going on. Never have, and never will understand what the location you have an event in matters at all. It is the same area for everybody that has enough hound to make it that far.

Nothing could be further from the truth.....most of the heavy hitters in this area were not interested when they found out the finals were in LA. Cost may be some of it but for me personally it is very difficult to be gone for the length of time it would take to go that far.

The entrys dont support your opinion, and Im betting the finals will have more than normal "no shows".

I think he covered it
I've drove farther just to show in the World Show and have never been to Shreveport so I would have enjoyed it. Just happens the cost doesn't fit my income this year. Dog power is a matter of knowing you can be competitive and seeing how it works out in the end.
Good luck to all those going out for it and the rest of us can be cheerleaders for our favorites and 2 weeks from now we can worry about next year .

Heck, Our youth hunt was in the same state this year and it took me 3 and 1/2 hours to get there, but I still went and helped ( or hindered ) out. Everywhere is a long way from south Ga.

It's the location. More hunters in Ia, Ill, Ind and Ohio. Those fellas won't be traveling to an area of potentially fewer coon. It's a great deal when they don't have to leave the day before the hunt to make deadline. Taking time off work for all the many hunts can also be a problem. Wish I had been born with wealth.

I wonder how many people on here have a dog even qualified that is complaining? I wonder how many people on here complaining has ever hunted in louisanna? hunters from the South every year drive up north to hunt in the big hunts. Unless its in your back yard every year someone will complain, so stop crying no one is breaking your arm to drive down here. The semi finals is a eight hour drive for us still, and about a seven in a half drive to the world. The world hunt is not in deep south Cajun country where the show swamp people is filmed. yes there still will be a few Gators around and snakes, but we hunt every night with em down here an so does every other southren state. STOP COMPLAINING hunt if you wanna hunt, sit on the couch if you dont want too.

I dont see anyone complaining, I see a discussion about lower entries and the reasons why.

I did not whine when the location was announced, but myself and others from this area decided early on that getting a dog ready to compete with the finals 2-3 days drive was not somthing a reasonable working man wants to do.

IMO most of the guys crowing about dog power dont have enough experience with these hunts to even know what they are talking about...

I thing is for sure. Everyone that has said location isnt the reason is from Ga. Ms. or La. Unless a guy has a week to haul a dog down there and teach em not to mess with dillers, snakes, gators, heat, and the other crazy stuff yaall hunt in hes at a definite disadvantage.

I think if they plan on the same dates every year that they should consider weather and temps..So to me they should pick a place a lil further north such as ind,ohio,illinois,n.kentucky,Missouri...seems to make sense to me.theres a chance it could be 100 degrees or hurricane ect there...wouldnt that be grand?

I live 20 mins from Shreveport hunting sucks unless u got buckets I would rather hunt up north than down here for a world championship it was a stupid move for UKC and they'll see that once they see the scores and number of dogs entered also I'm putting my money on a dog from a northern state to win lol I can count on one hand how many people in the shreveport area hunt hard enough to have a dog in the right kind of physical shape to win A hunt like this

I'm not on that hand either

have a north south east and west region hunt and take the winner from those regions and meet in kentucky for a 3 night hunt off. problem solved. have a 4 dog 3 hr hunt the first night, hunt alone the second and bring the top 2 back the 3rd night for a hunt off.
