I only read the first couple of pages, but I don't think I saw B&D's Blue Spike listed. The current top reproducer.

I agree with Wayne! We bluetickers have a bunch of nice
stud dogs to chose from all over the country throwing
a good percentage of young dogs doing it right at a young
age. It will be hard for any stud to dominate when there is
so many to chose from. Some will get more pups because
of the area they live in, that's for sure. I'm just thrilled to
see breeding practices getting better and are breed IS
benefiting from it. I still think there's to many half *ss
dogs getting bred though and there's still a lot of room
for improvement.

this was my shameless attempt to get a pat on the back lol. if i was truelly good i would have had him listed w/o that zero on the end.

anyways, you were the one with the true foresight to breed to him. you got anything else exciting planned.

everybody talking about CANE being the next best stud dog, hes been at the top of the list for over a year now, doesnt this classify him as a great stud dog?

all of those dogs that put him on the list are basically all out of the same female. needs alittle more time to prove he can cross like that or well above avergae on other females

gotta have females to breed to. Obviously i think some people would agree that he is above average when you look at some of the other dogs people put on here. I think most of it is opinion. I dont think it takes much of a dog to tree a coon, or even consistently tree coon, i think its more how they do it (some people call it with style) if they look good doing it or just look plain stupid and clueless doin it. It dont matter how many dogs hes sired outa the same female that turned out, You ask anybody who knows a thing or two and they will tell you and the canexjenny cross was argueably the best ever. What other bluetick crosses has thrown the numbers that this cross did? I do agree with you about not seeing spike on here, i have heard very good things on this dog.

you asked if he was a great reproducer, it takes more than one cross on one female to prove that in my eyes. it could have all been jenny, it could have been just them 2 clicked. not saying this is the case, but if you bring 10 other females to breed to him and none really turns out, i wouldnt say he is a good much less great reproducer just because what one cross turned. that being said, i do think the rc-jen cross is one of the greates of all time int he breed

wether fair or not, i think having no titles has hurt him. one becuase folks want pretty papers and need it in some cases to sell pups, and 2, folks wondering why he doesnt have any titles.

A hound is a good reproducer when he throws a high percentage of hounds that are not shy, not mean, can move a track, can tree coon about everynight and not a bunch of rattle heads. On the right gyps throw a few of those top hounds. The extra comes with mouth, looks and brains. Getting pups in the hands of competition hunters puts them on performance list.

so what are some of the dogs that maybe dont get publicized like some of the big name dogs that you guys would consider breeding to
??

stud

This thread is from a few years ago, just thought it would be fun to see the change in opinions,( or lack thereof). Personally, I really like BULLET II, RC, and a couple more. Also, Tim Vaughn is doing a nice job with Turk. JMO, lets get everyone elses opinions on here as well. Go Team Blue!
