LoL. I'll run the five. Let me ask you this. Say a dog is treed alone just outta sight. Tree closes and you get nearly in sight of tree. Dog stops barking. You start the 2. You hear something come running through the woods at 1 min into 2. Goes right on around you and heads off to the left. Now do you minus this dog now or give it the other min to get back and start treeing again?

Well I am so deaf if it was not opening i might think it was a ghost or a flying squirel , Who Knows ? I call my dog on what he say, I don't have to hedge my bet on what the rest of them might be thinking about.

Had a female years ago ( when I actually tried nite hunting) that would never be on the tree...she would be under the coon, whatever limb he was on. Put her in 2 hunts, minused on tree in 2 hunts. One of the most accurate i've owned. the nite hunt rules are called " honor rules" but not everyone is honorable nowadays I guess. It's been almost 10 yrs since i've hunted in a nite hunt, and i sure as hell dont miss them

So I take it you have never told a judge to minus your dog. What if you are judging if your dog deserves a minus do you give it to them or try to wiggle out of it? I have told judge to minus me before, really don't see whats so hard to believe about that.

I dont go into any situation looking to say minus my dog but if its warranted you can bet I will minus my dog or be minused by you and never say a word about it. You know truthfully why this rule gets under my skin so bad? My Mouse female last year Autumn Oaks on 1st cut had a 1st and 2nd in about 2 minutes into the cast, told judge she would great a ways off the tree with company. We proceeded to the tree that had 3 dogs on it. She came off the tree to me and made a v line right back to the tree. He hollars your minused. So I come away with 175 minus right off the rip. Line our dogs up and re cast them and she slams another coon alone and we call timeout with hour plus left in the cast and I come out of there with 25 minus instead of 325 plus. So imagine you drive several hours to hunt and a few hundred dollars over a simple rule that is often abused. Heck look at all the guys on here that already admitted they would minus a dog and not blink if its not right on the tree when they get into the tree. Its not right and all they are doing is keeping guys out of the hunts.

Instead of trying to convince everyone how they should intrepret a rule why not go the easy route and correct a fault and train your dog to keep her little behind at the tree.

You been complianing about this for two years... I can teach one NOT to come off a tree to me in three nights.

I wish some of these people Hoosier was hunting with was on here. Id like to hear their version. I don't believe that's all that went down. Just because a dog is a first tree dog. Don't mean it want leave one. Send her here. I can prolly break her. Plus I just need something to hunt

i dont consider it a fault and never will. She is doing what she is supposed to do. Come hunt with her for a few nights and tell me what she does is a fault. She is a special dog and I will not beat on her when something covers her and she comes of the tree a ways. The rule is in place to clearly allow it. I cant help the fact that guys dont follow it. Hey if that how they have to win I hope they feel proud.

Dawg there's no version to it. I dont lie or stretch the truth if you knew me well you would know it. I dont and ha e never found amusement in lying.

Trevor, this pup I'm hunting right now would meet me off every tree when I started with her. She only came off maybe 6 to 10 feet, really nothing to worry about. My hunting partner Adrin, who does most of the handling in the hunts for us, mention that we needed to fix that right off. I told him no way you could minus her for that. His reply was that he wasn't gonna fight that fight every weekend even if I would. He proceeded to walk into every tree for the next two nights with a switch. No, he didn't beat her. He just let her know it wasn't acceptable. Problem solved. One less thing to argue about. But yeah, the RULE is on your side.

Dude its a fault, you might allow it but its a fault regardless. What she is supposed to do is keep her hind end at that tree until you walk up to her and put a strap on her. I'm beginning to get the picture, you can't even admit to your dog has an obvious fault without disagreeing. And if you need to beat a dog to teach it something THIS simple that explains alot.

But hey go ahead and continue to try running thru that brick wall instead of walking around it.... its your head.

How come she only does it when dogs cover her? Your telling me she never does it any other time? Anyhow. I still have no clue to what the article says. I can't wait for l.Lyle to bring them curs over here and spank me though. Its a different world here than what his squirrel dogs are use to lol.

You just dont get it Chris. Meeting is allowed per the rules. And yes her meeting me is a fault she also has a bad fault of treeing coon. Grand Nite as a 2 year old.

But really this wasn't started about my dog. Follow the rules or stay home.

I dont mind Billy and I dont take this as serious as I lead on. If guys would just follow the rule there wouldnt be a problem. There's far far worse faults then a dog greeting. Like face barking, tree jacking, rough dogs, me too dogs. For a hide dog I have won an awful lot of casts with Mouse

Out of curiosity how many times has she been minused in a hunt due to her meeting off the tree?

I have seen a bunch of dogs over the years that could tree a lot of coons but for one reason or another they weren't suitable for competition hunts. I don't think anyone on here has said or insinuated you don't have a coon treeing, special dog. But, if it is a recurring problem, even if it is because someone is not using the rule properly, even if everybody in the whole USA is looking to throw you under the bus because she's going to blister them, wouldn't it be simpler to fix the issue before you drive off to a hunt, and get minused for it?

I know exactly what you mean Dean and I agree but in my honest oppinion if a dog is a true pleasure to hunt through the week it should be successful in the hunts. I have been minused 6 or 8 times with Mouse and a few of them were legit. Others were not.

i still fail to see why you wouldnt question it if the rule is on your side. fact is you took your minus and now you are here belly aching. take your minus move on to the next one or question it if you are sure the rule is on your side. i still fail to see why you are still talking about it, YOU caused your dog minus--handler error. if you knew the rule so well you let your dog down. deal with it.

Posted by Hoosier Man1 on 06-08-2012 11:21 PM:

I dont know why this got turned into my dog getting undeserved minus. All I did was use that as an example of the rule being broken. Ovbiously it is a pretty common occurrence or else ukc would not have wrote an article about it now would they???
