what i have deduced is this: every hound that cant meet the color qualifications of its specific breed ( to the nth degree) is qualified as an english.
ok, i should have done my homework a little bit more.
let sleeping dogs lie and let every other coonhound owner revel in the light that they can register as an english.

can you speak english was my motto, i might just change it to mylotto.

If you got a 6 generation paper on your redtick,,take a look back to see if theres any walkers or blue dogs in it,,you might sing a different tune. And there has been alot of good english breeders working at for many years and they still get these multi colored litters,,, Oh i might add i'm not picking on you i used to own english dogs many years back and i still like them !!

Separating Redticks from the English Breed and then breeding for color is a recipe for screwing up a good breed of hound!!

maybe , just maybe, if you have blue english, breed for blue and reg. them as such so they are separate and recognizable as such.
not just lump- them into a broad catagory as english.
this is all i am saying.
redtick english, bluetick english, tri colored english.
this is not a giant debacle for anyone owning a coonhound.
if someone wanted a blue english, they would go to a blue breeder. etc. but at least they would know what they were wanting and looking at.

I hope to one day be as smart and know just as much about hunting as you! Not!!!! I have a 'PR' black and white female in my kennel who could probably run all over that little Show Ch of yours. You're interested in show, and just because you can't tell what kind of hound it is by looking at it, doesn't mean those of us that HUNT should have to change too. Okay, I'm done, for now

I couldn't care less but I would like to make one observation. To the one that wants them single registered if they are not redtick, did you know they have to be able to tree a coon to be single registered? Sure would be a lot of grade show dogs on the market.

Leave the English Breed Alone

The English Breed has come along ways as a whole the last 10-15 years with breeders finally working together breeding Coondog to Coondog no matter what color of ENGLISH they are. Its showing in the winners circle from a local level all the way up to the World Championship!!!
For someone to suggest that we make the redticks their own breed is the most asinine statement I've heard in a long time...that will do nothing but take the breed backwards!!!
This was suggested by some back in the 70's...it didn't fly then and Damm sure won't fly now....SO GET OVER IT!!!
