As an outsider looking in. Meaning I dont comp hunt. This is one of the reasons I probably wont unless it is a friendly comp. So I dont understand the defintion of a MEANINGLESS tree. Can someone help me? Dont the points count towards titling your dog. What if I was a new guy...which I am, and I was trying to get my dog points to get championed wouldn't the points need to be scored. Or is this not part of the problem here. I can understand the dog has no chance to win but me not getting my dog titled cause someone in the cast doesnt feel like walking to a tree? then I think that is the most un sportsman like conduct if I have ever heard of it. And please correct me if I am wrong.

CWT, the only way you can recieve points toward a title is to first of all win youre cast with plus points.

If the hunt time is almost over and you tree youre dog but you are loosing the cast by 300+ points that tree is meaningless.

Now, like others have said if you were lafraid of getting lost or you were pleasant to hunt with i'm sure most hunters would not mind going with you to get youre dog.

The side i'm exploring is the fact that some crooks in the sport try to use that as a last resort to try to beat you or get you scratched, they will try this on youth hunters ir beginners. That's why I want to see it changed.

That proposal deals with scratching dogs for off game after hunt time has expired if i am not mistaken. I could be, but i think i am right there. In this situation, it would not help anything, being all dogs treed inside of the hunt time, and yes, all have to be scored, by the rules. I am sure we all would be a little upset, having to score the third place dogs tree, but in this instance, the cast winner should be glad he said it must ge scored, and you went with him. Yes, he could have gotten a "cheap" win as we call it, but when you think about it, is it really a cheap win if it was done completely inside the rules. Rules are there to use, and if you benefit by one, so be it. If one causes you grief, and you get beat for not following it fully, then i guess so be that too. While most would just shake hands and take their loss, maybe this guy was testing your rules knowledge. Would he have had you scratched? I do not know, but if he did, it would have been legal, if you didn't go to his tree, and for that, it would be shame on you. Like the rule or not, it is the rule, and until it is changed, it will be, and should be used if the need be.....and that miight depend on what kind of "fellows" one has been hunting with for the past two hours. Believe me, i have hunted with some that would justly deserve to get beat as described right here, just by attitude alone.

If I'm the guide of course I go help the guy get his dog and tell the others how to get back to the truck. I do practice sportsmanship and courtesy in the woods that's why I have a problem with people condoning being a prick.

You can't vote on scoring a tree until you have shined the tree. Just like you can't plus dogs on a coon you seen jump out of the tree right before you started the clock. Tough break. The shine time hadn't started. You better hope there is another coon in the tree or it's a legitimate circle cause if not you will get minused even though you seen the coon jump out of the tree.

So, Jim would be within the rules to scratch you for not scoring the tree. You can't score it until asked after shine time is started.

Is this right or wrong? Even if the guy that owns the dog that is treed when hunt time is over doesn't want to go score his tree becouse the hunt is over. He would have to withdraw or he would be scratched wouldn't he?
Rules say you got to score that tree. Not that you have to score the tree if he wants it scored. So it isn't really up to a prick makeing you go score the tree or get scratched. It is the rules and if you don't do it the whole card could get thrown out the window anyway.
Keep in mind this is a question.

Im not so sure what the big deal is about going to the guys tree. Again I am not a comp hunter but I always thought when you go out to gether you try to stay together, comp hunting or pleasure hunting. I know the check in time is an issue but dont you all have to be together when you get back to the clubhouse to check in. These are all questions cause I do not know. Not starting anything.

No body has to go back to the club house but the winner or atleast one to take the card back.
