Sorry to hear about it Russ. I was looking forward to hunting with her sometime. I am positive she was everything and more if you were packing her and Nelson was handling her.

After reading all the post on this board and other boards about lil red I thought I would take a moment to write a few things. I dont post on any board alot but wanted to put a few things out reguarding a couple things that have been said. Alot loved that lil red dog some didnt, but taking away that and everything that lil dog has won a few things remain a fact. Bellar is no stranger to cutting loose a coondog, he is no stranger to being a winner but one thing I have never seen is a bond between him and another hound like little red. They took up with each other to the point that she rode in the cab of his truck, had her own bed in the cab and you could see it in that little dogs eyes she had two things on her mind. Making her handler happy and getting under a coon in a hurry. And no disputing black, white, red, blue, purple she was a coondog.

There were kids and wives of coonhunters that have never seen a message board before little red, that would come on here just to see what she had won anything else. They loved that little dog and couldnt tell you who Russ Bellar was if they seen him.

Earlier on this post there was message to Bellar about my father keeping lil red tuned up in heaven. When I saw that it choked me up alot but also made me smile. When I talked to Bellar he had heard of that same post and we both had a moment again where it was touching because ya everyone that knows "pops" knows hes having a blast with that lil girl.

Bellar has been called alot of things through the years but one thing I am glad to call him is my friend.

My point of all this is, taking away everything she won an has done to the coonhunting world, a good man lost his best friend in lil red.

So very sorry to hear this. It is true that the Good ones die young but Lil Red has more than proven herself as a good dog and has became a Legend that will never be forgotten. Live on Lil Red and be easy with the coon population while you are in your final resting place high in the sky.

R.I.P Red
