WOw. Cats aren't off game? Actually in many states feral cats are considered an unprotected species... like porcupines, coyotes and etc.
Anything other than a raccoon is considered off game with the exception of birds (turkeys, owls, & etc).
I'd really like to know who has tried the "you can't scratch me on a cat because it is not a game animal" trick. Wow.
OH lmao

The way I see it, if you are hunting a coondog and it trees anything but a coon you should be scratched. Lets make that a uniform rule for all. I will bust a dog just as fast for treeing a cat as I will for a slick tail. Off game is anything other than a coon, simply because you are after coon. If it was a house cat hunt, treeing a coon would get you scratched. It would not be the game you are after.

hey brogy , you may need to check up on your rules, a few years ago the rules were worded a little differenely and anything except coons are considered off game including turkeys , birds rodents , EVERYTHING that is not a coon is now off game.... mike

Mike O'Rourke....page 67 in the Advisor states "At this time, United Kennel Club does not consider birds to be off game for coonhounds."
So, you now need to show me something stated by UKC since the Advisor was printed to the contray if you want me to judge by what you have stated above. Until you show me that, birds are not offgame.
