Thanks for putting this up on the site. I do not get bloodlines or any publication (yet). I allways used to when I was younger. When my father passed I took a very long hiatus from hunting and hounds all together and have recently (past couple years) gotten back into it. Had it not been for this thread my blood preasure would have stayed at a safe level....Oh well! I get fired up sometimes. This is a worthy reason to get fired up. We are under attack by people that are some of the biggest liars and hippocrites in the world. We have a lot of avenues we can go down to keep our sport and legacy alive and prosperous. Discussing anything with hsus is not one of them. Pre-scripted responses (until you say something to get her fired up, which doesnt take much is all you get. She obviously is not interested in listening to the truth about this. I would not waste anymore time sending emails, pics etc.... We should figure out a way/place to get our voice heard. Remember, them saying that a small % of houndsmen are aholes and mishandle there dogs is not whats going to fill there bank account! Thats the bottom line here. Its getting people to fall for there fake pitty parade and send $$$$ for there plush offices and lobbiest. We need to find a way to exploit them.

arguing with this people will do nothing but raise your BP.You want to help here are a few suggestions. Educate the uninfomed.If your belong to a club and you have surplus $$ donate to a locale T-ball or little league team,get pics and an artical put in the paper.Most small towns at some point through out the year has some kind of home town parade,Have your club put together an entry for it PROMOTING our sport. POLICE OUR OWN!!! Get involved in the polital aspect of our sport.

id be willing to contribute a few bucks and a slideshow to fnt tailgate adventures to get a word out against them maybe they could do a show on the legalities of the sport and how to correctly care for your dogs and maybe a kennle build aspect for a kennel on a slope with a trough to get rid of waste or an above the ground???

and maybe just tell some truths about the hsus on there

Another thing

Just don't talk about it on here , yes we alknow that we love and care for our animals . But use other web sites to inform others like I have put this on my Facebook page. Cause I have friends who don't hunt there animals , but have lap pets that they love . So I am telling them the truth about HSUS. Just maybe if we all ban together we can hit them where it hurts in the wallet....

I also agree with the others we need more clubs to promote that we are clubs and what we do and be apart of the community . Hey look at the bright side , It could also help with places to hunt or hold meeting or get togethers..

I know where I live the clubs are not promoted good I onley know of one and thats cause Joe sent me an E-mail letting me know .. If we put meeting times and locations in the local papper , we might get more member.

Or go to the local schools and put on clinics on hunting with the local game wardens , I know they are always looking for some help with kids....

I agree with bearhunter in trying to argue with these guys... my feedback to Vicki was:

"With regards to the HSUS article... in my opinion, it's a losing battle to attempt to talk these animal rights extremists out of their opinions of hunters. To an extent, they are somewhat like terrorists who take beliefs and philosophies to an extreme that leaves them unable to think rationally. So instead, we attack the details of their arguments to chip away at the overall agenda."

Then I cited specific arguments to counter theirs.

the emails aren't being read by HSUS!

Here's proof that the HSUS isn't reading the emails we send. It's an automated response. Send them anyway, I'm sure they're aware of the numbers just not the content.

I'm not as diplomatic as some of you when dealing with unreasonable (crazy) people and I make no apologies for it.

Here's the email I sent:

I see you've set your sights on hound hunting and are trying to paint the hound owners with a broad brush by using a very small minority to make us all look like abusive hillbillies.

I'm not even going to waste my time trying to reason with you, been there done that. I know what your real agenda is here. I know how you've mastered the art of taking one video or a few pictures of abused animals and using them to raise millions of dollars to further your anti-hunting agenda.

I also know the HSUS is a "smoke and mirrors" organization that uses the name Humane Society as a way to deceive the public into giving you money that they think will be used to operate animal shelters. Nice little $10 million per year scam you have going on there.

You'll never admit that hunters are the biggest group of conservationists in the U.S. Our money, not yours pays for wildlife preservation programs and habitat. Ask yourself this, how many acres have the HSUS bought with their net worth of $200 million to set aside for wildlife preservation? ZERO. Hunters dollars... Millions of acres. But you already know that and yet you still continue because your thinking is based on emotion and not logic. You think wild animals are Disney animals and they have a retirement home somewhere they they die peacefully in their sleep when they get old. Nature is far more cruel than humans but you'll never admit that. Hunters help prevent the spread of disease through wildlife populations but you'll never admit that either, there's no money in it.

Chances are you never read this email. I seriously doubt it. If you did I challenge you to respond by saying "You're wrong Mr. Lovelace, I finished read your email."

I don't expect this email to persuade you of anything. I was raised by an animal rights activist so I'm familiar with the narrow, illogical thinking of the A.R. movement.

Stop hunting and you'll kill more animals that you can possibly imagine. The blood will be on your hands when overpopulation, disease and starvation runs rampant. But you don't care, it's all about the money.

You should focus your energy on figuring out why you don't understand the animal kingdom you think you are protecting.

Thank you for contacting me in response to a post you found on the UKC forum.

In no way did I state in the video, nor does The HSUS state anywhere on its website, that all hound hunters treat their dogs in such a matter. Instead, we make a point to say that many hound hunters do, which is true, not that they all do. It is a sad fact that many hound hunters abuse their dogs in sickening ways. Many do not feed their dogs for long periods of time because they mistakenly believe that hungry dogs will hunt better. Even hound hunters have contacted me, urging us to do something about how many hound hunters threat their dogs. They have explained in vivid detail and sent images of hunting dogs who receive little to no food or water, whose water is consistently green, and whose kennels are so entirely filled with excrement that they must stand on cinder blocks to avoid standing or lying in the filth. Other hunters have contacted us, explaining how many hound hunters fail to treat injuries to their dogs, even broken bones. Hunting dogs consistently show up at rural shelters across the country, particularly in southeastern states, emaciated and rife with ailments such as fleas, ticks, heartworm, mange and cancer. Many shelters report that 50 percent of the hunting dogs they take in are heartworm positive. This condition is easy and cheap to prevent, but can cost up to $1,200 per dog to treat, requiring the dogs to be isolated for months, and sometimes requiring surgery to remove the worms from the heart, all at taxpayers’ expense. Many shelters report that as much as 90 percent of the dogs they take in are unwanted or abandoned hunting dogs. Many hunters simply abandon their dogs or dump them at local shelters when they fail to hunt well or become too old to keep up with the chase. It is sad that many hound hunters choose to burden taxpayers in such a manner and choose to treat their dogs as nothing more than disposable hunting equipment. It is also unfortunate that many other hunters rush to the defense of these hunters and this deplorable treatment of animals.

Actually, the images of the dogs who were emaciated WERE hunting dogs. They were relinquished by their owners because they failed to hunt well and deemed severely underweight by shelter staff.

The HSUS has more than 11 million constituents. That’s more than one in every 29 Americans. The issues that The HSUS choose to work on are supported by the mainstream public. The public simply will not tolerate the abuse of animals in this manner.

oh they are reading the emails shes responded to over 21 emails from me havent you Megan. These werent all generic maybe 3 or 4. Everyone should demand they remove the fictional information and illegal video about hounds on theyre web site.

Notice she said "deemed severely underweight by shelter staff".

Shelter staff being bertha bettern you that has a pom pom that weighs 30 pounds suffering from lack of exercise and severely obese who doesn't have a clue how an athletic dog is supposed to look.

They don't care what the truth is. The only thing they care about is stopping hunting. If they have to blatantly lie to do it, they will (they have done this numerous times, outright lies).

Reasoning with these people is useless as they have no common sense. They have an emotional response. It is not based in evidence or logic, only pure emotion that can't be controlled.

That said, educating the general public is where it is at. It is the public that they target because they know if they pull the wool over their eyes they can accomplish their goal of outlawing all hunting. They understand that reality doesn't matter, it's public perception. He who owns the airwaves owns the issue regardless of what the truth is.

The DJ, public service announcements and good examples to the public are all good things.

Bear Hunter on the big game hound page had a good idea. Have your local club donate to a local little league if you have they have the funds.

I know the big sportsmans club in this area has donated a few hardback books about hunting to the local schools and county libraries. Anything that could give hunting a good name and get out for the public to see. And I really like the idea of helping out with anything the kids do.

Hopefully they get the message , but i doubt it . These people feed on arguements they have P.R. people that advise them with every situation that arrives and it always is on there side.I think they believe they are protecting SMOKEY THE BEAR and RICKY THE RACOON,thats the kind of world they live in. 3 months ago a coon got into my chicken coupe and killed 8 hens and a rooster chewed a couple of their heads off , but they wouldnt think anything was awrong with that, unbelievable.

I think that the e-collar and tracking system companies need notified: Garmin,Wildlife,Tracker,Quick Track,Innotek,Tri-Tronics,Sportdog,Dogtra etc.,not to mention the coalitions and organizations supporting sportsmen/gun rights.I strongly urge the joining of organizations like the KENTUCKY SPORTSMAN COALITION and researching your congressional candidates at both state and federal levels before hitting the button in the ballot box,then the HSUS can wage all the fictional campaign they want,it wont be law if we dont let it.jmo

there are thousands of people on this ukc board and that many more on pkc and akc but i only see 12- 15 people responding to the thread. guys we really need to use our resources, voices, clubs, vendors and everyone involved to make a stand about this issue! there are thousand of hunters! we have the power to be heard.

can we just call garmin,tracker, wildlife, ect and who would you ask to speak with? im going to start contacting all i can.
