I do not see from those videos what is so impressive about these dogs. I don't mean to make anyone mad but they look like the typical bloodhound...no speed, and all over the place. And if they are so great then why are there so many of them used. I would want them to line out on a track rather than be all over like you see in the video.
Sorry I was not impressed at all. They are very good looking hounds, but looks don't catch anything.
I will have to disagree with you on tracking part too. A hound should be very well balanced between tracking and treeing ability. One without the other and you will loose game. These hounds remind me of the way a bloodhound hunts and I think you loose the tree ability, and track speed.
But good luck with them.

Chaos, I realize what you are saying !! Most of these Video's are Mostly of "Partime Weekend to even Once a Month Houndsmen" Euro is very different !!

Their are some Real Houndsmen their that really Pound their Hounds on Boar !! Just not alot of Video's of them .. The last Video I posted was a Production of Italy's Sat. Tracking System "BS" and the GGS Hounds ..

Now the whole Outcome of these Hounds Relies on the Cross on the American Hound in the same Manner that Bill Green Did it ..

Sure its a Out and Out Crap Shoot !!

But Bill Green had to Rebuilt his Pack Twice in about 10 years. When Bill Green went in to the Army during WWII He needed some "Houndsmen" to take care of his hounds while He was away so Bill sent them to some "Hound Friends" in the Midwest. Bill and Them had a Missunderstanding on the Boarding of his Hounds .. The way I have seen thru reading 1943-1944 Full Cry ads was They were Studing Bill's Hounds while he was away.. Now this may have been the Agreement for Payment of Board on his hounds .. After the War, Bill went to collect his hounds and was handed a very Large Billing for Boarding... Which Bill couldn't Afford so His hounds were Held for Payment.. !!! Now this by what I can say is "Here Say" but when I saw the Stud Ads it Made since ..

Long story short Bill Rebuilt the Same way he Started "Using French GGS's" and was Back on top again ..

As far as Treeing Ability !! As far as we can tell Bills French Hounds and the Crosses Never had any Problum Their ..

Well I see things I like

I am sure some of the hounds are just dog chasers but their were a couple that had some darn nice tracking ability. Loud bawl mouth doesnt hurt them any either. Plus they have excellent conformation. They look like a hound is supposed to. Some day I hope to have some of their blood in our pack. Mayy take a couple years till Steve has a litter or 2 and then sends one this way but some day it will happen. May take me that long to save up enough for one! LOL!!

Here are my 2 GGS pups...Spider (male) and Cleo (female)...

I have a SC blue female coming soon....Gonna breed pure GS lines and some VERY selective outcrosses with SC blue lines...Exciting stuff. Once I caught wind of all this I sold what I had and dedicated myself to this. I beleive this will level all of our "standards" we have now for the majority of American big game hounds...Time will tell obviously but I beleive the cards are in our favor!

I cannot wait to see those pics of the SCxGGS pups. I think that they may be the ticket....Man, the future is bright a few years from now eh?!

Thats a good way of putting it...a "pair of aces"....I sure like them so far and I have high hopes for them. I'm looking forward to developing a pure GS line and some selective outcrosses with old blue, proven lines with size, and ability. They sure are houndy looking and my thoughts are that we can all have our cake and eat it too! THanks for the compliments.

Brady.....I've followed LT's posts of the other forum since day one......I really want the GS, or a "percentage of" the GS in my program in the future.....
Your pups are really fine looking, I just can't say it enough.....

it seems as though these hounds are really coming to the front as of late, and from what i can gather they are not tree hounds. what kind of breading will take place to get them to do so. steve has a nice looking female, and i was just wondering how everyones pups are doing on game. Once all the breading and crosses are done how do i get one?

Posted by Brady Davis on 01-18-2010 02:42 AM:

Everybody that is currently hunting them on treeing game is having no problems with them treeing. Now, I do beleive that after a few generations of serious hunting, we will be able to cross the better tree dogs with better tree dogs and end up with stronger more natural tree hounds.

My female pup will bark at anything in the tree that she trailed. We're not doing hard trails now as they are 4 months old but both hounds look up!

As far as where to get one...I would contact "liontracker" on here or on the big game houndsmen forum as he is the one who has imported the first pairs here in the US....I will probably have pure GGS litters as well but not for at least a couple years, we got a LOT of hunting to do first to see how and if to breed them.

Never ask a man what kind of dog he has. If he has a hound he'll tell you, if he does not, you don't want to shame him by asking.
