Getting wet

I took a tour of things yesterday. Most of the roads are a mess for my 2-wheel drive Ranger. The deer hunters have Wednesday and Saturday still remaining to hunt and play. Might have to beg someone with a 4-wheel drive to chauffeur me around. The coons have found the newer feeders. Now if Mother Nature will just co-operate. Floyd called yesterday with my confirmation number (251) and told the wife they were still short a bunch of guides. Good luck to you also, my young dog is gonna need it.

Been to the clubhouse lately ??? Most of the low spots are holding water, but then, there ain't any place for it to go. I drove to your treestand on the gasline and back out but doubt I could do it again. Thank goodness I had taken my nerve medicine. Honestly, I putted through what them monster mudders had to spin. Wet ground and big cleats at 5000 rpm don't mix. I know, buy a real truck. LOL.

Received word today that they are good on the guides. Hopefully everyone entered gets to hunt. Good luck to all.

Don't think they can do much with this one. Had to walk this road into Trash this morning when I found him in Gum Corner. .... Don't even ask ! LOL.

HEY JOHNIE. Same old story, can't guide UKC cause I must 'kill every coon I tree or don't come back'! But if any body is hunting leopards and want to warm up before the hunt starting this Monday' then give me a call, 843-893-8344.
I have done owned, trained and messed with enough of the"standard" breeds to last a lifetime.

Forecast

GEORGETOWN, S.C. — Frigid cold, with a slight chance of snow on Friday.

That’s the forecast for the Georgetown County area, as arctic cold drifts in to stay for a good part of this week, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, N.C.

The cold snap is making national headlines because of it’s extended time it will impact the area, said forecaster Mark Bacon.

The unusually lengthy cold snap could last most of the week, he said.

A very brief, slight warm up on Wednesday and Thursday will be followed by more frigid air arriving by the weekend, Bacon said.

“It’s widespread,” Bacon said. It’s affecting the eastern two thirds of the country.”

There is a slight chance that snowfall could impact the Georgetown County area by Friday. Bacon said it is too early to say exactly what will happen by the end of the week.

“We’re not out of the woods here,” Bacon said. “It’s still kind of far off. It could start as a very cold rain on Thursday night and end up as snow on Friday.”

Bacon said an ice storm seems unlikely, but the precipitation forecast is still unpredictable for the end of the week.

“An ice storm seems unlikely,” he said. “It doesn’t seem the best [weather] set up for that.”

Chilly days, freezing nights

The daytime highs this week will struggle to reach 40 degrees, Bacon said. Nighttime temperatures will be in the 20s.

A temperature of 21 degrees was reported at the Georgetown County airport on Sunday morning, he said.

The record low for tonight [Monday] was 16 degrees, which was set on Dec. 4, 2008.

The cold spell is happening because there is a mass of cold air settled over the entire northern hemisphere, Bacon said.

“It’s very stable,” he said. “Cold air keeps dumping in

Spent the warm part of the day yesterday checking feeders. I'm glad deer season is over. Had to turn around twice for fear of getting stuck. I locked all the gates but two. Maybe that will slow down the traffic. I'm gonna take the lock from the gate at Little Vietnam and put it on the gate on Powell Rd.

Had to move 2 feeders. One to get it on more of a hill and one for lack of activity. Maybe the smoked herring will help the coons find it before Friday night. I've washed my hands and can still smell it. Hope the herring don't make it a possum drop, but one of them can come in handy for "professional handlers". LOL.

That might not be how it's spelt. He used to cut my hair when I was young. (back when Ollie had say over my hair) I know the man and the spot you're talking about. Don't know if he's still living. My cousin was married to his daughter at one time.
